Itemization on Faceless Void

I've recently played a few games as Faceless Void after a long time, and I noticed the itemization on him isn't as obvious as I remembered.

As usual with pos1, you go for a farming item first. So what's the rule I should keep in mind for deciding between Battlefury and Maelstrom?

I feel like Maelstrom is better in the long run, as it builds into Mjollnir later on, but without BF's regen boosts, I lack the sustainability for jungling.

Manta gives a nice stat boost along with the dispel, and the illusions are also useful for a small damage boost inside the chrono, so I'm guessing it's crucial in most games.

Butterfly and Daedalus feel like no-brainers too.

What's your usual item progression for Void and how do you handle the farming item choice? Does it make sense to buy BF, and still go for Mjollnir later on?

Also, how crucial getting Aghanims is, and where would you place it in the item progression?

The meta since the buff to his aghs has been bfury into manta into aghs since bfury synergies very well with the aghs

This build also has the added bonus of not 100% needing skadi before refresher to have a big enough mana pool

Battlefury if you have space to farm and game will go late, Maelstrom when you need to fight earlier or they have high armor heroes. Getting both is waste of slot, choose one path. Aghs is really good after your first big damage item, the extra time walk range and lower cooldown helps you survive fights and setup chronos better.

How would you handle the sustainability issues when going for Maelstrom instead of BF?

Honestly if you go mjol you just kinda live with it until you're strong enough to kill creeps without taking too much damage

Did it last night worked great. I find I win more with mael over bf to be honest since you get more attack speed

I've personally just ditched MoM entirely and just go straight mjolnir, or at least that was my FV build until I stopped playing him following the Refresher orb changes

Treads, null, raindrops, neutral items with mana regen.

I usually go BF first, that’s good sustain all game and a farming item.

Then pick a survival item - manta or BKB. Manta is nice if their team is not stun heavy, but if they are, just get BKB, after that - damage and attack speed and your agh. If it’s a high damage line up, a stat item like skadi is nice. If you skipped BKB depending how the game is going, you might wanna go back to one late game if they have a bunch of like hex or orchid built up. 

I had a game recently where the enemy team has a ton of initiation and we didn’t have much vision, I picked a SNY and skadi over BKB early since I rarely had time to get my BKB off - it was a shaman and lion running around instant hexing me from fog. My goal that game was to live long enough to time walk the damage off in the early and mid game. I went back for a BKB later of course and disassembled the SNY into a manta, etc. Worked out and we won - every game is its own puzzle that you need to solve.

Edit: you now have me thinking about the farm speed comparison between BF and agh. Wondering if it’s similar might test it out in demo mode. Would be nice if agh has a similar farm speed cause you’re getting stats early too and an item that you’ll really want late game.

Right clickers really benefit from lifesteal for both fighting and farming.

Just grab a casual morbid mask, you can upgrade it later.

Usually old faceless void used to build mask of madness for early farming and then maelstrom and bkb.

If a dispel is necessary this game such as enemy has silences/roots then manta becomes essential. Otherwise upgrade to mjollnir.

And now you see what you need this game. Do you need mkb? Butterfly? Linken sphere? Aghs? Nullifier? Manta? Maybe something else? Etc...

I dont really recommend always grabbing daedalus in fact most games you benefit more from an mkb or nullifier (not sure if it dispels aeon disk) or linken sphere or eye of skadi.

Basicly an item that counters the enemy rather than more dmg.

MKB > Daed on Void 9/10 games. Attack speed and true sight gonna get you another kill or two during a chrono vs a crit and some missed attacks.
