Events/Things To Do Weekly Foam Dodgeball Rec League. Fun + Meet People!

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

If you’re looking for something fun to do indoors this fall and would like to meet some people in the area, consider joining Lehigh Valley Dodgeball’s 6-week Monday Night League for $45 starting in a few weeks on September 21st from 7-9pm in Easton 🎉

Our last winter & spring leagues had 51 & 43 players! Our winter league had 13 women which was awesome to see some queens out here balling 👑 https://linktr.ee/LehighValleyDodgeball

Whether you’ve played sports your whole life or haven’t picked up a dodgeball since gym class, you’ll fit right in. This is a welcoming, low-pressure rec league, and we’d especially love to see more women join us this season 💚 Everyone is welcome 🌈

Teams are balanced using a simple 1 to 5 self-assessment scale, and friends can request to be placed on the same team during registration.

📍 Easton Area Community Center (One 50-min game per week)
🗓 Starts Monday, September 21 (7pm - 9pm)
🟢 Beginner-friendly, evenly balanced teams (6-week season)

We’d really like to help change people’s minds on dodgeball! With the right leaders & rules it is a fun game about teamwork and not the violent, wild-west unbalanced game that many of us have traumatic memories of. We use 7-inch foam balls.

If you’ve been on the fence, feel free to check it out or message me with any questions — happy to help!

Fun kids study for 4-5 yr olds at Lehigh University!

Hello! I’m grad student at Lehigh University, and I’m looking for ~15 more families to join my dissertation study!

A few families from Reddit saw my previous post and already participated and had a great time! Huge thank you to those families!❤️

Some info about the study:
📚 One-time, ~45-minute visit at Lehigh
🎁 $20 Amazon gift card as a thank you from us
🚗 Free parking and child care (upon request)
👧 For children ages 4–5 and a parent

The study involves reading two short books together and helping us learn more about how children learn from their parents.

If you’re interested, pick a date and time that work best for you: https://calendly.com/childdevelopment/new-meeting

Ryan Mackenzie is a pathetic joke

I wrote to his office concerning something or other. Maybe data centers. Usually when you write to politicians their staff at least bothers to send a canned message that is a little related to what you wrote about. I have never seen a response like this and I've been writing to politicians for many years. This is embarrassing.

-----

Thank you for recently contacting my office. I appreciate hearing from constituents like you because it helps me better represent our entire community.

As items move through the legislative process, I will certainly keep your thoughts in mind. You can track the progress of any federal legislation on the home page of the United States Congress at www.congress.gov.

If you require immediate assistance, please call my nearest district office. We are always happy to try and help with any federal government issues.

Thank you again for contacting me. Also, if you would like to receive legislative e-mail updates from me, you can sign up on my website at https://mackenzie.house.gov/.

What is best job for me?

Upvotes

I’m a college student with a pretty busy schedule, so I don’t have a ton of time to work during the week. I’m mainly looking to make some extra money to help cover some expenses.

Right now, I’m only available Friday and Saturday evenings/nights. I’ve been applying to part-time jobs, but I’m starting to wonder how realistic it is to find an employer willing to work with such a limited schedule.

For those of you who have been in a similar situation, what types of jobs would you recommend? Are there any places/industries that tend to be more flexible with weekend-only availability?

Any advice or ideas would be appreciated!

New appreciation for the LV

Spent the weekend in hellish hot Houston that looks like a dusty dirty flat wasteland and it gave me a serious appreciation for being from and living in the LV. Our lush green foliage, our mountains, our charming stone farmhouses and quaint downtowns. All of it. Only thing I can say is that Houston has a fantastic food scene if you love Tex Mex. But yeah...it's endless strip malls, corrugated metal buildings, and HOAs with block-shaped houses the color of muddy brown.

  1. Cody’s- on Angelo’s level, unreal stuff. Weekly specials are worth trying also.

  2. SMP- on the same quality level as Cody’s, still really amazing and they just opened a new spot across the street.

  3. Napoli- great steak, not on the Cody’s or SMP level but amazing.

Feel free to discuss

Gentle giant needs a home

A realtor friend found this guy & his brothers abandoned after their elderly owner was moved to an assisted living facility. They were left for months with only a large bag of food to sustain themselves. His brothers found good homes.

This is Garfield. He's estimated to be about 6 years old, and is long haired with a big build (might be Maine coon). He has a very calm, loving personality. He's not a lap cat (still a little skittish) and not too playful, but he likes to sit next you and be brushed & pet. Just hold your hand out and he'll rub his head against you. His meows are practically silent. He's pretty content to be a couch potato. Can get skittish with noise and activity so a smaller household would suit him. He's cat friendly and uses his litter box. He has a congenital leg deformity where he walks on his front forearms, but it doesn't seem to hurt him or give him mobility issues. He was treated for an upper respiratory infection and partially shaved due to his fur matting, but he will be gorgeous when he grows out his coat.

Can anyone give him a soft landing? Will ask for vet records to make sure he goes to a good home.

Edit Somebody is coming this weekend for this sweet dude! You guys rock <3

Seeking Advanced Chiropractor

I recently moved and and seeking a very specific type of chiropractor. I need someone who can do multiple different types of adjustments on the thoracic spine / neck. My insurance doesn't cover chiropractic so I don't want to try out a lot of doctors and waste my money. NOT looking for a chiropractor who just does 1 or 2 necks adjustments and barely moves anything. Looking for any recommendations around Bethlehem or anywhere in the Lehigh Valley.

Wine Tasting Group

Hey all! Have seen an old post or two about this, but it didn’t seem to get anywhere so I figured I’d try one of my own.

I’m looking to find (or start) a regular wine tasting group for service/industry folks and non-industry folks who would like to learn more than seems to usually be available around here in casual settings. Have talked with a couple of the folks locally who I suspect would know best, and they both let me know that previous efforts in ABE and Jim Thorpe fizzled so there wasn’t likely to be one to find. They mentioned that professional folks looking to find groups basically all schlepped to Philly to do so. Happy to organize and create themes that support WSET or MS tracks if folks are working on those, but since I’m past those days I’m also just happy to try things in a context that tickle the brain. I’m not interested in NCC wine classes, but if you are (or any of the other local university wine courses), that’s the kind of person I’d love to rope in.

If you’re interested or have knowledge of such a group, feel free to reply or DM.

Thanks all!

Brown water west bethlehem

In west bethlehem I noticed the water is brown when I just used the sink. It was fine earlier. I know the city was working on the road in the area toward the end of the week but they weren't digging up, just getting ready to repave the road. Anyone else notice brown water today?
