The Plunge

Post image

After my successful test with the Forbidden HP, I installed Cinnamon on my 7290. It’s taking some time getting my head around the terminal, but I love the flexibility in the OS. I really don’t think Windows has a place for me at the moment, but time will tell whether everything I need is supported on the platform.

Who said that on the most user-friendly distribution in the universe, you have to memorize CLI commands or use a terminal??? You don't need a terminal on Windows, macOS, or smartphones either.

I’ve been using LinuxMint for about 13 years without ever using a terminal. Since 2019, I haven’t found a single reason here on Manjaro why I’d need a terminal. Tell U me, WHY do users need a terminal?

If you want to. Then you can do some things really fast, like grep for something in your archives. Or break your system with a single typo. Need? Nah. Not really anymore. About as much as command line or power shell in Windows.

That means I have to be able to type really fast. Because of my disability, typing has been out of the question for me since 2018.

That would require me to have an archive. Aside from my birth certificate (in print), I have neither printed nor digital records that are more than 10 years old (the standard statute of limitations).

On the other hand, there’s archiving software galore.

Or break your system with a single typo.

Without using a terminal, that’s impossible, too.

Need?

If I needed something like that, don't you think I would have installed that kind of software a long time ago?

Or do you think I've spent my whole life waiting for someone to tell me about such great software?

Didn't you realize I basically agreed with you, or was that a deliberate choice?

I live in Germany, and the translator (DeepL) doesn't translate mental expressions ;-)
