Malwarebytes Detecting Malware from Litecoin.org Wallet Downloads

Litecoin Core contains functions to generate new blocks, which some antivirus software mistakenly see as malware. This is because in the past, some botnets would quietly mine cryptocurrencies on the victim computers, with enough computers they would sometimes make some money.
Most likely it’s just a false positive. Like the other person said, best to check the sha256 checksum of the installer file and compare with the GitHub. If they match, then all good.

Just did my weekly scan of a PC and had some of the wallet exe files I downloaded directly from litecoin.org have been detected as Malware. Anyone else have this issue?

The .ai meanings it was flagged by their machine learning heuristic. Probably false positive. Monero setup executables always get flagged as malware, even by windows defender. I always have to go in and white list them. Like you have to think what the node software does... it says "go out there and connect to all these computers"... so I'd wager most node software will get flagged as a virus despite being benign. You can always verify the hash from the github if you're worried, but 99% sure it's nothing to worry about.
