I spent a lot of time in San Diego as a military brat and I’ve been looking for authentic carne asada fries…so much so I might buy a food truck…anyone from Cali found amazing carne asada fries in NYC?

Hi! Just toured a unit at 44-72 11st street that faces the courtyard. I wanted to know if anyone lives here and can speak to how loud it gets. I’m worried about potentially noise issues late at night or on the weekend.

Also if anyone has any feedback on what it’s like living in the building I’d greatly appreciate it!

I started living in lumen a couple years ago and just renewed. I am looking to add a roommate under roommate law 235f and wondering if anyone has gone through something similar.

I know they are weird with key fobs so want to make sure that my roommate will be able to have an extra fob and access to gym/amenities.

What’s up with the Verizon truck on 46th ave? It’s been there for almost a year it seems, taking up a huge part of the sidewalk. Worst part is people are leaving their trash on it… anyone know anything?

What’s your utilities bill been like this summer?

It was about $230 for last month in a luxury high rise new build, 2bd/bth, 970sqft. I keep the AC at 74 during the day, and 71 overnight for sleeping. Also have in-unit washer/dried and dishwasher.

I’m wondering if this is high, or about average for our area/building.

After a long 3 years of working on myself, I think I’m finally ready to start dating again! It’s been a minute since I last go on a date so I would love to have y’all’s help on what spot to go to or have a decent “itinerary” that I can just jump around. I’m thinking about hit up bars in hunters point since it’s less pressure and trying to lighten things up. Please give me any advice/recs that yall might have!

Okay Lumen is a fine building. If you're actually thinking of moving into it fine. Just BE AWARE management is literally four trousered apes squatting on their asses rubbing two sticks together.

I swear to God, this place makes it as hard as possible to pay rent.

First, there are like three ways to do it and its not clear they all line up and which one you should be using.

Second, after you pay, you get ZERO clarity into what they charged you for and when. If you actually want your transaction history or any answers at all for that matter, you have to email some outsourced person who gets back to you god knows when.

Third, YOU CAN'T SPLIT YOUR RENT. God forbid you have a roommate and don't want to venmo each other thousands of dollars every month. When the balance comes out they don't allow any partial payments, so whoever gets to it first has the pay the full balance.

You might say, oh then how about you just prepay half and then your roommate pays the full remainder when the charge comes out. And if you said that, why yes, you'd be a sensible intelligent individual I'D TRUST TO MANAGE A FRICKEN BUILDING, CUZ GUESS WHAT MY GUY, THEY JUST BANNED PREPAYING YOUR BALANCE TODAY.

Okay I know this is just a minor inconvenience. Whatever. But seriously, I thought we had this payment processing shit figured out since PayPal. Isn't that like the origin story of all our modern villains? Isn't Tax collection like the second oldest profession? If management can't figure this out like what DO they DO? What do they know? Do they know things?

It seems every few days there is a new person working the bar. Who are these people?!?

I just passed by the parking garage at 4545 Center Blvd, and there was an accident. It looked like two cars were both trying to enter the garage at the same time. I’m not even sure how that’s possible since it’s a one-way street.
There were a lot of firefighters, ambulances, and police on the scene. One man had a neck brace on, and a woman with a child was sitting on the ground. I hope everyone is okay. 🙏

Saw this herd of parking enforcement officers all gathered around 1 car and then realized they must be trainees.

It’s Monday, I had a sh*tty weekend because I wiped out at the construction site on Jackson by 7 train on Saturday. I’m sure it was somehow my fault but when I say wiped out … I mean I was in the air arms stretched out like I was Jazz Chisolm stealing 3rd base.
Not the point of the rant but …
HOW is it legal to have both the escalator and elevator out at the same entrance? They are always both out. I usually don’t mind walking the stairs but when you can’t bend your one knee going up is difficult. Then I get to the train and there’s a guy with 2 kids in a double stroller … who has to go down the stairs !! Seems safe for everyone.

I have hosted 3 already and they were all so fun to plan and execute. I am trying to keep them intimate 10-15 people and no more. So that we actually get to build connections and friendships. I add icebreaker games and mini events within the major craft to get people talking and interacting!

Any recommendation for ongoing plant watering/sitting services in the neighborhood? We're sometimes away for a few weeks at a time so plants need to be watered 1-2x/week. In need of services prob every 1-2 months. TYIA for any tips/recs.
