So in book 20, First Frost, he and Vic are cleaning out the basement, sort of. Is this the first time we found out that his house has a basement?

I've read every book in the Longmire series except for the newest one, and I love them for a multitude of reasons. One thing that I can't seem to get past though is the death of Cady's husband Michael Moretti. It's at this point where the books seem to take a turn and tragedy outpaces reality. I don't understand why Cady had to become a widow in order for the story to progress- Michael could have transferred out to Cheyenne and the plot with Cady becoming the Attorney General would still work.

Obviously the author had to show us the high stakes of the character Bidarte, but I think it got to the point of being over the top, especially when Walt goes to Mexico and basically takes out an entire cartel. Maybe Craig Johnson was running out of ideas at this point in the series? Other later installations like Daughter of the Morning Star and Hell and Back were great, not sure what was going on in the middle of the there.

Anyone completely confused by the ending to this book? I still don’t get the killer’s motive. Like I can’t explain it at all. The Abbot? He just randomly decided to start killing people? He never explains any motive for him killing Pepper. A guy who is barely mentioned in the book ends up being the killer? No motive, just he was a bad dude who wanted power? This is by far the worst killer reveal in all the books he’s written. The epilogue is the worst part because they just brush over the killer reveal and don’t discuss his motives. Like who poisoned the tea? Like this whole book feels like he wrote the first 2 acts and then just randomly choose a name out of the hat for the killer to be whether it fit the story or not.

It’s rather disappointing since it’s such a great story otherwise. It’s a Longmire classic though you could see the wildfire ending drama coming the whole book. I’m still just so confused by the ending. Like I can’t make any of it make sense.

Like it’s an easy mistake to make, considering how close ‘Cady’ is to ‘Katie’. But I distinctly remember there being a conversation early in season 4 about it, when Jacob Nighthorse’s lawyer calls her “Katie” and she corrects him to “Cady”.

His role in the show is a standout! I remember watching him as a child during Days of our Lives when it was summertime or I was sick. At any rate, his voice is on point, his intonation is outstanding.

I can’t believe he’s in his mid 70s!

Do you have a favorite scene of his in the show? Mine (I’m on season 6– hoping for a late-late renewed 7) is when he’s in the casino and acting surprised and says something like— “ooohhh it turns out to be the white man who is the bad guy.” This was the start of my admiration for this character and certainly will find other favorites my second time through.

Did the Brothers McKay feel like a character assassination to anyone else? Walt learns a known rapist and all round bad dude tried to rape Martha and he didn’t do anything? Henry didn’t do anything? It just seems a little out of character to me.

I wish I could make this more of an actual discussion.

However, I did want to say that I have just completed the entire Longmire series. So, I might as well add some thoughts, without trying to spoil anything:

Not too sure I liked the ending. I suppose it's good that they got the bad guy, though I wish that the bad guy had a more eventful ending.

Also, the new relationship that was fostered, that was a little weird, I can't lie. Wasn't there an age gap there regardless?

I liked S1 the best, where each episode was an individual case and there was no carryover from prior episodes (with regards to the crimes). Also, no annoying cliffhangers.

Ultimately, I have the same feelings I always have when finishing a book or series: "I want a sequel."

Let's get another series going, pick up where they left off.

I'm reading the books is order and am on book 5. I like Vic, but I feel like she is portrayed as little more than a sexy foul-mouthed deputy and love interest to Walt. She's always talked about as soooo capable and amazing, but I feel like we've baaaaarely ever seen her expertise in action. It's always Walt or Henry figuring things out. Vic is just swaggering around and swearing and coming onto Walt. It feels really shallow. Does her character ever get more fleshed out? Do we get to see more of her in acton?

I loved the show and drew up an image of Longmire in 2018. It made it into the fan made book that was given to Johnson at Longmire days.

I saw some Longmire books on my Mom's bookshelf recently. She had been reading them since early on and i decided to give one a try so i started with Tooth and Claw. Reminded me of Hellboy a lot and o loves the story so u are this image up I'm pencil this January.

Well, Thursday i finish The Dark Horse and listen to the interview at the end. So cool. I pop into Parker's books to look at the test if his books and see the new will be in town the next day.

I grabbed the pencil art and inked it up and made these small cards to give him one.

He was so nice and i got his new book signed for my mom and have him a card thanking him for common to town.

He seems so happy. And he have everyone a bit of time to chat and take photos.

I can't wait to catch up to his newest book and borrow it from my mom.

Is it just me or did everyone fail Branch physically and psychologically in s3? Even Katie's behavior was odd immediately letting him go even though he did everything he could when she had the accident?

I'm new to watching this show. I just found it strange that the sherrif is mad at the person responsible for killing the killer. Also calling him victim in front of the murdered girl's family. I thought it was out of character of him.

I want a Longmire series where each season is one book, just like how they have done the Reacher show. And I think it would be even better because the Longmire books are more connective than the Reacher books.

It’s literally always just ferg. “Hey ferg” “ferg, go do this”, etc. I mean except for Meg, who calls him by his first name. Is this a reference to his character in the books?

He was constantly talked about all the way up until we actually got to see him, and then he kinda just disappeared and was replaced by Dr. Weston. I don’t recall there being any reason for this shift. Am I missing something?

I am not sure why it took me nearly 17 books before it occurred to me, but here we are.

This book is pretty good, btw.

I’ve been watching Longmire on Paramount through Amazon Prime up until the morning of March 1st and later that day and since it now says the video is currently unavailable for all episodes. Anybody else run into not this?

In the books, didn’t Walt end up getting her a Ford Raptor? Maybe I’m misremembering.

I just started watching, and I’m halfway through season 2. Idk if it’s just me, but I can’t STAAAAND him!! He’s just an ass. Just constantly taking shots at Walt, but willingly chasing his daughter. He’s too stupid to run for sheriff too. Maybe I just don’t have enough info, but I just haaaate him 💀
