1988, USSR, the cracks in the Iron Curtain are becoming bigger and the Soviet-Afghan War is coming to a close. Smuggling across the Union is at an all time high, Western influence pours into Mother Russia like a river pours into the sea. A young man, Aleksandr Volkov, stands on a train platform, still in his military uniform with his medals on his chest. He shifts slightly to cover them with his great coat, his eyes are distant, cold, and absent. He had sacrificed for his Motherland, his home, just as his father did at Stalingrad against the Germans but times have changed. His father was welcomed home as a hero, but Aleksandr is ashamed of his military service. He looks at a postcard from his big brother. The city of Perm was depicted on it.
"Aleksandr, come see me in Perm, my wife wishes to meet you and I have an important job with the factories. I will help you get a job and maybe a wife. Your brother, Emil."
He boards the train, headed for Perm. Unbeknownst to Aleksandr, Emil's job with the factories was extorting the workers and factories themselves for the Solntsevskaya Bratva. Emil ropes Aleksandr in to the Bratva.
So, this is my idea for a Russian Mafia Game that's tied to the Mafia Series. In this, I want Aleksandr to show how the early years of the Russian Mob was but also how they gained power very fast in the power vacuum that was the 1991 collapse of the USSR. What is the tipping point of how Aleksandr gets got like Vito, Enzo, and Tommy? Him and Emil get greedy, they wants more, the western greed over takes them like demonic possession! At first its just them skimming a couple rubles here and there but it escalates to guns, cars, military equipment, that is when he gets caught and he must choose between himself and his brother Emil. Help his brother's family reach the border or save himself.
Of course this idea needs ironing and places need to be changed, but I always wonder what a Mafia title would look like for the Russian Mob and maybe Irish Mobs, British Firms, Chinese Triads, and the Honoured Society in Australia. I would ove to hear opinions, critiques, and other ideas!
