As Asian girl, i come to Magdeburg 1 year before for master study. Almost every month I experience 1 racist group of people. 

- When I first came here, sitting outside the train station to eat, mind you SECOND day to Germany, a group of teenages driving bicycles passing by and laughing at me for no reason.

- A cashier at Mediamarkt didn't even say any words to me at the counter, no hi, no thank you, Nothing. 

- When i was going out at just 7pm to buy groceries, a group of boys seeing me walking alone and starting to scream then laughing out loud. 

- On the bus, when i sat behind, a boy started to yell Katze all the time.

- Bus driver refused to pick you up and scream at you.

Not even 10 months here but the city stucks, people are hateful and miserable. Young boys are so uneducated and arrogant. Mind you I'm not a refugees, I'm a student. I beg for nothing and i take nothing from you or your country.

When you come to Asian country, do we laugh at you or try to scared you for fun? Do we leave you at the bus stop and scream at you just because you are White? Do we behave impolitely to you?

NO, WE TREAT YOU WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT.

The whole state economic is stucks, the young is motivated by anything but motivation for a better state. They just know how to hate and hate. Actually I see no future in Magdeburg, anyone lives there with a bright mind will understand.

This is my personal opinion. Magdeburg has problems, not all of them are causing by immigrants, most of them come from the mind of the people. They are pathetic!

Hallo zusammen,

vor einem Monat habe ich mein erstes Motorrad, eine Honda CB500F, gekauft. Ein fantastisches Bike, mit dem ich die Ausfahrten sehr genieße. Heute hatte ich das Glück, zufällig in eine kleine Gruppe von Motorradfahrern auf Sportmotorrädern zu geraten. Es war ein unglaubliches Erlebnis – fünfmal cooler als alleine zu fahren. Leider haben wir uns ziemlich schnell wieder getrennt. Nun möchte ich Gleichgesinnte finden, um gemeinsam in der Stadt und in der Umgebung herumzufahren. Ich bin 21 Jahre alt. Euer Alter und Geschlecht spielen für mich keine Rolle – Hauptsache, ihr habt Lust auf coole Ausfahrten. Wenn ihr mehr Erfahrung habt als ich, freue ich mich auch über gute Tipps.

Ich stelle zunehmend fest, dass in MD die Zahl der Radfahrer steigt. Sowohl die Klassischen als auch Rennräder und E-Bikes.
Bei meinen letzten Kurztrips in andere Städte habe ich da leider nicht drauf geachtet, ob es anderswo ähnliche aufkommen gibt.

Hey Leute, ich werde zum kommenden WS für mein Medizinstudium nach Magdeburg ziehen und mache mir ehrlich gesagt etwas Sorgen, was die politische Stimmung und meinen Alltag dort angeht. Insbesondere wegen der zunehmenden AfD-Zustimmung in Sachsen-Anhalt habe ich Angst davor, möglicherweise negative Erfahrungen aufgrund meines Kopftuchs zu machen von verbalen Anfeindungen bis hin zu körperlichen Übergriffen. 
Ich weiß natürlich, dass politische Wahlergebnisse nicht automatisch widerspiegeln, wie die Menschen im Alltag miteinander umgehen, trotzdem beschäftigt mich das gerade ziemlich.
Deshalb wollte ich vor allem diejenigen fragen, die in Magdeburg studieren oder dort leben wie ihr die Situation tatsächlich erlebt. Habt ihr Erfahrungen mit Rassismus, Islamfeindlichkeit oder Anfeindungen gegenüber Frauen mit Kopftuch gemacht oder beobachtet? Fühlt ihr euch als muslimische bzw. sichtbare Minderheit im Alltag sicher?
Ich wäre sehr dankbar für ehrliche Erfahrungen, auch wenn sie vielleicht nicht nur positiv sind 🙏

Hey zusammen, ich lebe im Hamburg Raum und überlege, mir eine Wohnung in Magdeburg zu kaufen und von da aus im Homeoffice für meinen Arbeitgeber in Hamburg zu arbeiten, das machen die bereits bei einigen mit (Bremen, Chemnitz, Süddeutschland, Griechenland😂), also warum nicht auch bei mir?

Ich wurde aufmerksam, weil Magdeburg für eine größere Stadt extrem günstig ist, ich merke aber auch, dass die Preise von Stadtteil zu Stadtteil stark variieren.

Der Plan lautet: 3-Zimmer-Wohnung (60+m^2) kaufen für ca. 80-100k€, muss nicht die beste Lage sein, aber nicht sanierungsbedürftig.

Ist das zu günstig, um wahr zu sein? Gibt es Stadtteile, die ich auf jeden Fall meiden sollte? Gibt es bestimmte (lokale) Fallen, die mir bewusst sein müssen?

Ich will da meine Familie gründen (bin jetzt 26 und kurz vor Verlobung) und bin deutscher Staatsbürger, in Deutschland geboren aber mit arabischen Wurzeln, was man mir und meiner zukünftigen Frau ganz deutlich ansehen wird, wobei wir total ruhige Menschen sind, beide Akademiker, genau deshalb zieht mich Magdeburg auch an (ich war 2020 da, kurz vor Corona und fand die Atmosphäre mega angenehm und sicher).

Ist es immer noch so sicher oder sollen wir uns von der steigenden AFD-Wählerschaft nicht verwirren lassen, weil das eine logische Konsequenz der schlechten Politik ist (und die meisten AFD Wähler seien nicht rassistisch oder nur gegen kriminelle Ausländer)?

Vielen lieben Dank im Voraus für Eure Antworten. Ich würde gerne einen Trip dahin machen und mir alles selbst vor Ort anschauen, also gebt mir gerne Empfehlungen! :)

I am trying to find the identity of my grandfather.

My father was born in Magdeburg in 1940. I have his birth record as well as the birth and death records of his mother (1915-1994) however they do not record his father.

I believe my father had at least 3 siblings born sometime 1930-1949, so I want to check their birth records to see if their fathers are listed to see if they could be my grandfather. I don't know these siblings exact names or date of birth, only what I'm told their first names are, and I believe some may still be alive.

I know I cannot request this information directly as I'm not a direct descendant and being outside German and not speaking German makes it more difficult, so I'm looking for someone that has access to more tools / private databases that may be able to confirm my father's siblings names & birth dates, early address records and ideally be able to pull the birth records to check for a listed father.

I know my grandmother married later and had at 3 more children from 1949-1955 to a different person, I managed to obtain those birth and marriage records already.
