And the āMost Justified Crash Outā Award goes to Vergil. Because yep, totally valid response and motivation. No notes. Burn it down.
Hurry up and get the fujos on this. The faster they get a word of āPeak Doomed AND Religious Yaoiā the faster weāll finally get an anime

Honestly l, I'll be hating god too if that was my experience. Bro death with that and still tried to protect the people around him. All around good guy sucks for the hands he was dealt.

I've been telling my BFF to get on this for a while. I even ranted to her for an hour about doomed religious yaoi after the last chapter.

I love how verge had so many years after this to come up with a way to convince dante the next time they meet, and his best plan was "I'm going to kiss a girl"

u/Funlife2003 6h ago
Well tbf that wasn't exactly his first action lol, and it is after Dante uses the salt power which well is as Verge says in that same chapter, is linked to the sin of Sodom.

and his best plan was "I'm going to kiss a girl"
Lol. But, seriously, I think that wasn't their first meet after he become a witch, because, I thought that, they meet before 2022 (when the story start) and that hwo Dante got his scars, and through, that the reasson why he lost part of his faith about the love (the rest was during arc 5 and the whole josh and imuri thing), and also become a little more angry.

u/ninshub 6h ago
yeah, i still don't understand why he did specifically that lol. just doing some bullshit

He wanted dante to be the knight in shining armor and join the demons to save him, so he had to put himself into the worst possible fate he could imagine!!!!
kinda the reverse of what dante did to him when dante shot himself6

Here I thought the priest that raised Joshua was a total pos, but while that guy at least managed to realize how fucked up what he did (still no forgiveness) and was doing it for flawed reasons, this pedo priest has the gall to pray to God for forgiveness while actively murdering the kids he abused.
I don't blame Verge for his anger but man, what a tragedy.

u/Zealousideal_Ring874 6h ago
Even more damning is that the priest felt comfortable even to do that. No hesitation at all. The world is such a beautiful place with a lot of fucked up people in it.

So glad this story does not shy away from how horrible the Catholic Church can be.
5
u/ankokudaishogun 5h ago
Now remember he wasn't that bad with Dante.
Which implies his excesses were also born from him being traumatized his fellow priests would fall so deep in sin, and thus some base on the excesses on training Josh.Tl;Dr: people fuck up even with good intentions.

So, Vergil turned against God because he let the innocent suffer. I get that. Even if Christians can recouncile that belief with God's Love, it doesn't mean it makes sense to everyone.
Vergil values Dante's innocence, but Dante valued the Church more, because for him he wanted to help Vergil. Of course, that pisses of Vergil.
Now that Satan's posessing him, Vergil's love for Dante drives him to fight back against this demon perverting it! And now Dante's really starting to fight back!

Faith isn't easy. You can believe in something so badly but events like this not only shake but destroy that belief at its foundation.
2
u/Extreme-Tactician 4h ago
That's true. Even the Bible says the trials and tribulations will come the way of believers.

"No matter how much the weak grovel before the powerful..." Cue panel with the large man kneeling down to kill a helpless child. Cinema.
I think there's still some hope in Vergil as he still buried his family with crosses even after becoming a demon bound witch. It's doomed yaoi with all the angst and hope lol

Vergil himself isnt a bad person (well minus all the evil stuff he's likely done since he became a witch), but because he was being abused he feels like he's beyond redemption. But ever since Lucifer told him that God still loves him, something inside him has shifted, and maybe once he finally frees Dante from Satan's possession he might finally get the redemption that both of them have waiting so many years for.

their conversation at chapter 20 was soo much sense now
this chapter basically a direct-prequel of flashback at that chapter

u/hmcamorgan2712 5h ago
I know that this would end bad, but God, really hurts watch how Vergil lost all his family, no one of them deserve that.
For the same reason, that scene with the guys death and vegil officially a witch gaves me mixed feeling, because, I was happy that they got what they deserved, but sad of seeing the moment Vergil choose this path of anger that ended in this all mess and serve to Satan plans, (thing I can't blame him, after all, he survived thanks to that)

Like how Dante just get back at the moment Verge smacked him. Is that how Satan is going to play?
4
u/Future_Vantas 6h ago
Oh shit, what if its not Dante fighting back but Satan letting him go to take all of Verge's attacks.

FIGHT BACK DANTE
Also, what happened to Vergil is as brutal as I thought. FUUUUCK. >_<

u/Jirachifan1505 5h ago
insanely valid crash out, at first I thought that the pedo priest would try to kill only Vergil but to know that he also killed all of the children that Vergil took care which were the reason he even endured all the abuse in the first place is so tragic. Really hope Vergil somehow manages to get a happyish ending even though with all the bad things he did as a witch that's probably not going to happen so easily

u/Zurrdroid 3h ago
Morally Correct Crashout, go off king. Snap ypur boyfriend out of possession, and kill God while you're at it.

They just wanted to be happy together but we cant have nice things. Vergeās anger is justified, let it all out and burn it all. Is there a possibility for redemption, maybe but I still feel like they were doomed from the start.

Lots of people on the MTEFIL subreddit (not the actual sub name) hate the witches and paint them in black and white, but I'll never hate them. The witches are all made up of people like Verge, and so, let them have some cathartic murder of church members as a treat, they deserve it.

u/Xatu44 6h ago
Not only were those goons pedophiles, rapists, and murderers, but they even killed the dogs. Bless Verge for sending them where they belonged with express shipping. It's heartbreaking seeing him only being able to find solace in despair after the world failed him so badly. Dante starting to fight off the possession is great, though. I hope they get a happy ending.

I'll be crashing out too, honestly can commendable that Vergil still got a good set of morale framework

u/TheOnlyBeehunterFan 5h ago
Perhaps I missed Verge mention this before but do we know who that demon is? Fly-like leads me to believe Beelzebub but I honestly can't remember who he made his deal with

Kudos to Verge for having enough of a cool head to be able to add a bit of irony to the punishment of the priest & co. in such a heated moment. A third eye for a third eye I suppose.

Aruma really knows how to do this doomed yaoi š
