S3 First time Watcher
One of the biggest things I’ve struggled with in this show is why. So the Axis powers get a nuke first. Ok, but historically did they even want to occupy the US? Would the Japanese want to move their citizens to the West Coast?
Now I’m asking myself why the Nazis would risk their empire by marching troops into other realities where they didn’t win the war. That would just open the door to the other realities figuring out how to show up on their home turf. How would they even control all that territory?

These are interesting questions. To the first, I would guess it's a resounding "yes." The U.S. was enabling the allied powers to tip the direction of the war in their favor so an attack that crippled the U.S. would put a stop to that. In addition, Hitler's talk of "Lebensraum" would support the Reich's desire for expansion of territory beyond it's wildest dreams.
That being said, why they would negotiate half of the U.S. away to the Japanese, who did not have a nuclear weapon, makes the least sense to me.
As to your second point, the strategy and tactics used by the Nazis in the second half of the war spoke to increasing recklessness and desperation. So I could see the troops marching into other realities as a manifestation of that.

I got the feeling, with Pearl Harbor being a complete success, the Japanese occupied the West Coast as ... not exactly an afterthought, but as a convenience. To exploit natural resources, for example. Not that it was a huge priority for them, just an additional buffer against Nazi power, a toehold on the American continent. They hold the ground because they can. It suits the Nazis to a certain extent - they feel they can squash the Japanese at any time and plan to do so until they are led to believe Japan has a MAD-inducing fusion device.
