Or were together for life. Even if they had a child together. These days it more common than before since having kids out of wedlock is less frown upon these days.

Hey, what is the average salary and dating life like here? Especially when I look on Reddit, everyone seems to have a 30 LPA salary before 28, their own house, a car, and are always traveling and looking for partners. What about the remaining guys like me?
Coming from a normal middle-class family, I've had a standard upbringing.
My hobbies don't go beyond watching movies and TV shows, reading books, and running. I'm not sure anyone would agree to marry a normal person like me.
About me
I'm not attached to material things; I love having money in my bank account, but I don't buy anything because, to me, money in the bank represents freedom.
I can't express love or care for other people (big introvert)
nothing qualifies me as a husband—I'm not exceptionally good-looking, not super wealthy, and not naturally loving. So what does life look like? Well, I’ve decided not to marry; I'm just confirming—what do you think?
I'm saving as much as I can so money won't be a problem in the future, and I'm doing a job I enjoy. I have great parents—mostly because I've learned to navigate their small arguments.
As for me, I'm an extreme minimalist: I've worn the same four regular outfits (two pairs of shorts and T-shirts, one formal outfit, and one pair of jeans) for years. I rarely purchase anything—no bike, no car, no interest in real estate. My monthly expenses are literally zero, and I want to keep it that way to avoid the burden of owning and maintaining any lifestyle.
That's it—my simple, boring life. What do you think?

These days it is less frown upon. How long have they been together. Were any of them together for life, how many years did that last.

For some people it does especially if it was a messy divorce.

Don't get me wrong, I think marriage is beautiful if the relationship is healthy. But I don't want it for myself. I've seen my parents fight almost daily since childhood and I almost got killed once by dad. All my life I've lived in fear and now that I'm 19, the word "marriage" scares me. Everyone around me is so obsessed with getting married and wants to get married and every time I flinch.
Last year my dad threatened that he'd marry me off if I fail to get into university. Since then I'm convinced that my parents don't want me around anymore and that's why they want to hand me to some random stranger who doesn't even know my favorite food.
In my head, I strongly believe that marriage is a torture cell, a hellish place to be in, a place to feel unappreciated and yelled at and potentially get killed for not serving my husband right.
Btw, I'm aroace and I have a strong dislike towards men. I don't like men at ALL. I've never dated and don't want to. All I want to do is be successful in my career and achieve my dreams. Why is it so hard to grasp for them?
I've seen so many people craving to get married when they were single and then regretting it after spending a few months post wedding. Aren't these a sign for me?

Hey, I hope you’re all doing well so far.
So, I won’t go into details, but I tried to get married a lot of times, and I spent a lot of time on it too. Where I live, we don’t really do long-term dating, so just to make that clear.
I decided that I don’t want to get married anymore. Okay, I agree that marriage is good, having someone by your side and all of that. You don’t know how much I wanted to be a father. But I sat down with myself and really rethought that decision, and I realized it’s just not worth it. My mindset is so different from the community I’m living in. (It’s hard to marry from outside. She will have to relocate, and i don't want to make her feel bad or do wrong to her)
Sorry it took me so long to ask this.
So my question is: how’s life going for those of you who didn’t get married? I know you may feel lonely sometimes, but can you still live a normal and happy life?
And what about the sexual part? Can you control it?
Thanks, boys, for the help. I’m sure there will be some good tips down there.

What do you think about ppl who marry only because they wanted to be celebrated by their family and friends and walk down the aisle with a dress, holding hands and all the congratulations 🎊 🥳.and the music, being the center of attention.
Just for that only and if you don't get married you feel like u r missing out on being celebrated, congratulated and dressing up. Marrying only for theatrics. Not for long term commitment especially as an avoidant who wants to be casual about romantic relationships.
I am personally from a cultures where marriages are big and seen as very important and it feels like I will miss out on it but at the same time I don't like the idea of actually getting traped in a marriage after the guests leave 😭😭
Although i want someone I choose to be a family with that is legally seen as my family.
I am kinda of confused. Idk if this is the right post for this subreddit.

To be honest I didn’t want to get married in the first place.
But I’m going to be honest. The pressure to get a house and not be lonely was immense.
Well it sadly didn’t last.
No physical or verbal abuse would take place. To be honest, I still semi miss them to this day because they were an integral part of my life. Also they were the one who proposed the divorce. But I’m not a huge fan of being friends with ex’s.
And I was more upset about having to sell my house and car than losing a marriage. That should tell you something.
And then I tell this story to people sometimes if the topic presents itself. And people are always like “awwww, don’t say that. You never know”.
NO, this is a personal decision I’ve made for myself.
On top of that, it’s hard to find relationships where the other part doesn’t want to get married and is okay with living solo.
I’ve been solo for two years and love having my own space.
People are so quick to want to move in with you, propose to you, etc.
Like, why can’t we just exist and be without the government and court systems being in our affairs?

Why did you choose to stay single?
1.Was it because of the stress that comes with relationships....
because your standards were just too high and you never found someone who met them...
because you can’t be emotionally available to anyone... 4.because you wanted the ultimate peace...
—or something else?

For those that are 30+ and single with no kids, what does your day to day look like, what are you up too, who do you live with, what do your nights look like and do you date?

I was having a mental breakdown , bc the thought of getting married to a man and always having him in my house, sharing a bed with him. I've always dreamt about a wedding, I have a Pinterest board dedicated to every detail. Recently I had a conversation with my friend and she said "you do know you're marrying someone and gonna go home with them after the wedding's over right?" I genuinely forgot about that part. I never really thought passed that moment. AT ALL. I started to cry, then i remembered women have rights, and we don't have to get married lol
But in all seriousness, I would love advice if any?

I am 24 years old. My parents have always urged me to find a boyfriend and hope I get married soon, but I haven't met anyone I'm truly attracted to. Should I settle for someone I'm not really into? What should I do?

As soon as you turn 28, why does everyone turn their eyes on you hoping that they see you married tomorrow. What is this pressure that I (or anyone else who things the same way) have to go through of getting married irrespective of knowing about how i feel about it. Grandparents, parents and every other relative wants their child to get married for their own happiness… so that they can feel relieved that their child is settled. But what the fuck about my happiness, my peace, my space, my views! And there’s no point in arguing about it because every discussion ends with “you don’t know anything about life, you haven’t seen anything”. What if I don’t think I’ll feel settled after getting married right now. Maybe I feel like getting married sometime in the future, but it should be on my terms.
I don’t know my head’s been a mess and I feel I’ve ranted enough.

If you know self control is difficult, why do people still get married? Especially, if you have access to resources to have food on the table with or without a permanent partner? What pushes them towards the ritual of marriage and what motivates them to stay despite the partner's direct contribution in their daily life? Asking for both genders.

If you found a partner who you loved and wanted marriage would you still not want to get married even if it meant losing them?

Hi! Is this a sub for those who don’t want relationships/want to be celibate or for those in relationships who don’t want to get married?
