Getting into comics

Post image

Hi im currently getting into comics and this is a list of the recommendations I have already and continuation of things I have already read. The blue is just comics I could easily go buy whenever I please because they're in my somewhat local comic shop. Obviously this is very ambitious so I will be completing this list over like 5 years before I start a new list.

So far in marvel all I have read is ultimate spidey vol. 1 (new)

In DC I have read superman: birthright, all star superman, Batman hush, long Halloween, and half of new frontier

In indie I have read half of walking dead compendium one and some of invincible

I just want to know if there are anymore recs or any other books I should read before some of these.

I was sure you knew of it!

Love the list by the way. Similar to what I had when I got into comics 6 years ago.

Are you interested in Fantastic Four at all? Waid and Wieringo’s run is amazing.

Matt Fraction's Hawkeye fs, Zdarsky's Daredevil, you could read Uncanny X-Men but my personal favorite X-Men starter book is Astonishing X-Men. Also if you liked Ultimate Spider-Man you might like Bendis's New Avengers.

Yes, I thought i was missing xmen but from what I've seen the only good starter books for them is the Claremont stuff which I'll probably read online cos id imagine its way more expensive, could eb wrong tho

You can start with Claremont but you don't have to, it's definitely worth reading though.

Since you have the Hulk in there I'd highlight recommend Immortal Hulk. Its the first Hulk comic I read and it singlehandedly made me see him as an S-tier character

Idk why you were getting recommended Spider Man Brand New Day. That entire era was mid.
Also for Ultimates, read Ultimates1 and 2, but skip 3. That story was garbage.

For recommendations:
Hickman’s Fantastic Four
Bendis Daredevil
Brubaker Daredevil
