Crocs can definitely eat turtle. Their bite force can even crush the shells I think. Turtle isnā€™t their preferred food usually, but they definitely eat them sometimes.

Iā€™m honestly not sure why it let this one go in the end. It couldā€™ve just started chomping. Maybe the turtle tasted bad lol

If you listen to the video the guy explains it- the turtles shell evolved to be taller than usual preventing the gator from getting the turtle back far enough to be able to clamp down on it.

You know crocā€™s and gators are two different species with a wide genetic gap, huh? Seems you are using them interchangeably.

Thatā€™s a gator in the video with a bite force of 2,000 to 2,500 PSI. Crocā€™s bite force is 3,700 to 5,000 PSI and they are much more aggressive.

Is that a gator? I know almost nothing about these animals, except that gators have wider snouts and crocs have sharper snouts. This looks like a sharp snout.

I've personally witnessed a gator crunch a large turtle. I'm about 30 yards away on the bank across an inlet from where he's chomping and chomping at it to no avail. BUT then el chompo slightly tosses the turtle upwards and catches it on edge (no longer flat) in its jaws and CRACK! Snaps the shell. Sounded like gunfire and a piece of the shell rocketed right by me.

Been around gators a lot. Only time I ever saw that.

So I used to visit this very same park regularly and actually witnessed an alligator catch and crunch a turtle like nachos. I mean, it was brutal. I think if these people had stayed back and not approached the gator and interfered with the predation, it would have eaten the turtle.
