I worry that this will happen to the Horizon games. 3rd one hasn't even started production and the devs are all stuck working on a GaaS game that doesnt have high odds of succeeding.

I'm sort of waiting to play the second one until I know the third sticks the landing.

Zero Dawn on its own wraps up just fine without any serious cliffhangers, for now I'm content to leave it like that.

I honestly found the second one to be fine, but nowhere near as good as the first. It felt like a game cobbled together after the massive success of the first.

I adored the first game, but the second feels so bloated and directionless.

The gameplay improvements are top notch, but the story and world are just a drag.

The first was very story driven with a very interesting world to explore; the second was world driven with a sorta interesting story to explore. That’s my 0.02

Thats a very good way to describe it, FW feels very much like the world/scale came before making an interesting story.

At least the flying mount system was an awesome include, I suppose

Its been years since I played HZD but doesn't it end on a pretty damn big cliffhanger, with the one dude finding Gaia or the evil red juice or smn.

The only real cliffhanger is the big bad for the 2nd game, otherwise it’s a pretty self-contained story.

Oof, my wife loves those games so she’s gonna be sad if a 3rd won’t make it.

I didnt knew that Horizon was at risk ffs!

But yes, i still don't see how they could fight against the true menace from space. I Will also be sad if it gets canned. Played the shit outta them.

They actually already decided to change the GaaS game into a regular offline one after terrible reactions from the beta.

I really didn't vibe with how the second opened and the first one answered enough that I didn't bother to play more than a few hours. Still bought the Lego set and love ZD.

Forbidden West is weaker story-wise for sure. I still like it and i feel like it will be stronger going forward, given that they planned another but Forbidden West was probably less guaranteed when Zero Dawn released. By the end of the DLC I was starting to really get a bit excited for the next one.

It didn't feel weaker story-wise for me. The game managed to get you some in-depths lore which felt right. Guess that part was way more important for me. The story was good, but the lore made it perfect. To find out what has happenend in the past and how it affects the present time.
