I honestly didn't mind three as much as a lot of people seem to. It definitely had its problems, but honestly the gunplay felt great.
I know a lot of people were pissed off that it didn't focus as hard on the horror as it did the action, and that is certainly a fair point, but I also felt that the far more heavy focus on the action made sense with Isaac's overall progression into a jaded, angry monster killer.
They could definitely improve on 3 very easily, but since EA we're very clearly setting the bar too high on sales for the remake that'll never happen.
Yea 3 was definitely the weakest of the trilogy but I still enjoyed it, co-op missions were funny when whoever was playing as carver was tripping balls too. Also I thought the DLC for 3 did a good job at bringing the horror element back
I think that a lot of the rampant hate for Carver was also from people who didn't have anyone to play through in co-op with.
Sure, he wasn't going to win any sort of best written character awards or most unique character backstory prizes, but the hallucinations from his guilt are really cool, and the additional recordings you can listen to they give more backstory about shit falling apart in his life definitely round him out a bit more and at least makes him fairly sympathetic.
Well said. I enjoyed the hell out of the third installment and couldn’t understand the hate. It had lots of “oh shit” moments and really managed to bring a deep feeling of isolation near the end of the game when you’re really flung to the far edge of the universe. I would kill for another game. Alas , Visceral is no more. Thanks, EA.
I also didn't mind 3 for being more action focused. By the time the 3rd game rolls around, it really makes sense for Isaac to be more steel resolved and brave to confront whatever necromorph problem, especially after the end of dead space 2 he literally destroyed the site 12/red marker influence in his mind. I think it would of been a real hard sell for Isaac getting spooked and traumatized a third time around.
