I recently completed my QA Automation interview with micro1, and the interview was conducted by Zara AI.

Overall, the interview experience was good. The questions were focused on QA/testing concepts, automation, manual testing, and practical testing scenarios. I was able to answer almost all of the questions confidently.

There was only one question I wasn't able to answer, but apart from that, I felt the interview went well.

The AI interviewer was clear with the questions and the overall process was quite smooth. Now I'm waiting to hear back about the result and next steps.

Has anyone else recently completed a Micro1 interview with Zara AI? How long did it take to receive the result?

My partner has been working part-time as a language expert for Micro1 for about two months. It's work they can do from home on their own schedule, and the pay has been very good. They've recently become a temporary reviewer, so they're now not only reviewing other experts' work but also spending considerably more time interacting with Micro1's Slack and the broader process.

I'm genuinely happy they've found work they enjoy, but watching this process up close has made me wonder about the long-term future of this type of work.

We constantly hear that AI is moving toward AGI, and potentially ASI. Whether those timelines are realistic or not, one thing seems fairly clear: models are becoming increasingly capable of generating synthetic training data, evaluating outputs, writing code, conducting experiments, and assisting with the creation of the next generation of models.

So I keep coming back to this question:

If AI becomes increasingly capable of generating and evaluating its own training data, how much human expert labor will actually be needed to train and evaluate future AI systems?

I often see answers saying that human experts will always be necessary because AI will eventually have to deal with robotics, medicine, physical environments, etc. But that seems like a different question. Those roles may indeed require highly specialized experts.

I'm more interested in the people doing the kinds of language evaluation, annotation, preference ranking, and reviewing that companies like Micro1 currently rely on.

Does this work eventually disappear?

Or does it move up the ladder, where fewer humans are needed but they perform increasingly sophisticated tasks such as designing evaluations, creating difficult benchmarks, auditing AI-generated training data, and determining what the models should actually be optimized for?

And, perhaps most importantly, what does the career trajectory look like for someone who starts as a human AI-training expert/reviewer today?

I'd be particularly interested in hearing from people who actually work in AI training, data annotation, RLHF/RLAIF, model evaluation, or companies like Micro1. I'm less interested in general AGI predictions and more interested in what you think happens to this specific category of human labor over the next 5–10 years.

I'm very new to Micro1. I've had a few interviews, some didn't qualify, and some are waiting on hiring manager review, so I'm very excited to see how this thing goes.

I spent the last few days building SunShift QA for the micro1 hackathon challenge. It looks at how a rural mini grid can use more solar and less diesel without putting critical loads at risk.

The agent receives irradiance, temperature, load, and battery data, then suggests START, HOLD, or STOP. A separate safety layer checks sensor freshness, battery reserve, generator run time, and equipment limits before the simulated plant accepts anything.

I also connected AgentQA, my earlier portable memory work. It stores dated encrypted records and recalls matching operating history. In this version, memory did not change dispatch or fuel use. I kept that result because it is more useful than pretending the memory system learned something it did not. The memory has to learn over time, that’s why it’s there.

The project includes a MATLAB R2024b and Simulink run, synthetic African weather and load scenarios, replayable evidence, and a fixed threshold baseline.

So I’m a little confused and wanted to see if anyone has experienced this before.

I applied/interviewed for a Micro1 role that had a fairly wide hourly compensation range, and my application is currently in Hiring Manager Review after completing the AI interview.

Today, I was contacted about what appears to be the same role, but this opportunity has a compensation range where the highest end is lower than the lowest end of the range for the role I'm already in Hiring Manager Review for.

My first thought was that the compensation might be per task rather than hourly (especially if the expected time per task is relatively short), but I don't want to assume anything. I've replied to the person who contacted me asking for clarification, but haven't heard back yet.

Has anyone experienced this with Micro1? Can the same role have different compensation depending on the specific project/contract, or is it possible this is an accidental/mismatched offer?

Just trying to figure out whether this is a separate opportunity or somehow connected to the application that's already in Hiring Manager Review.

I joined the referral programme at the start, my dashboard looks like this:

So far I have had 3 of 157 referees matched to projects, but $0 earned. On other platforms between 5-10% of my referees earn the fee, so a more juicy 8-16 referees would have resulted in me earning a fee from micro1 if that ratio held. Anyway, I live in hope. I'm not complaining, just curious.

So I am wondering if there is a correlation between start date of the referrer and what sort of payouts poeple are experiencing, as the platform has been through a number of updates.

So I am interested to compare notes on when people started referring, how many are on your dashboard, what % have generated fees, and whether things are going well for you, or if you feel a bit, blocked?

For me, I'm noting a higher and higher % are 'already working for micro1'. ....

I recently got selected for a Micro1 project and was completing the onboarding process. I just received an email today that the project is on pause and they cant confirm when the project will resume. This email felt like a punch in the gut and everything tastes bitter since reading that mail. That was so deflating.
I guess I have to pick myself up and go again. Zara here I come ...

I applied for the QA Engineer role and had the interview today. Towards the end of the interview, while I was answering a question, I got interrupted because the interview time had elapsed.

Then, for the exercise, there wasn’t enough time either, but I did my best. After completing the interview, my application went straight to “Under Review,” which is unusual because most of my interviews have gone straight to the hiring manager.

Still keeping my fingers crossed, but… 😔

I’ve worked on multiple platforms and projects related to AI training, and I genuinely want to share my experience with Micro1 because I’ve found the overall workflow here to be very different—in a very positive way.

The biggest thing I appreciate is transparency. Whether it is communication, the hiring process, project workflow, payments, payroll, or the amount being paid, everything has been clear and easy to understand from my experience.

I recently completed my first project with Micro1, and the project was successfully completed. I was selected for the project, and overall, I had a very good experience working with the team. The HDMs were supportive and responsive whenever I had questions, and the communication was clear and professional. The leadership and overall project management were also very good.

I’ve worked with several other platforms, but honestly, I haven’t experienced this same level of transparency and clarity everywhere. The dashboard, payroll process, project workflow, and communication systems were all quite straightforward and easy to follow.

I’m currently applying for another project as well. One of my applications is in the hiring manager review stage, while two others are under review. Hopefully, I’ll get the opportunity to work on another project with Micro1 too.

I also noticed that there are some negative comments and reviews about Micro1 on other platforms, including people questioning whether the company or process is genuine. I can only speak from my own experience, but based on the project I completed, my experience was genuine and positive.

So, if someone is considering working with Micro1, my advice would simply be: trust the process, understand the requirements, communicate with your HDM, and give the process a fair chance based on your own experience.

I normally don’t write reviews about companies I work with, but I wanted to share this one because my experience has genuinely been good.

Does anyone feel some of the job interviews would benefit from having more time to complete properly all of the exercises?

I’ve applied to some of the jobs at Micro1 and in two instances, I was not able to complete on time the remaining exercises, I’m not a native speaking American, hence I find it a bit more difficult to progress as quickly as a native would do (IMO)

Since most of the positions are remote, probably considering having extra time for us non native English speakers would really be cool, I truly wish I had 10 extra minutes, I’m sure it would have made a difference.

I’ve been lucky to be on a micro1 project for a while, and have had a really great time on it. The team I work with are great, it’s my area of expertise and I feel genuinely valued.

I did want to ask a couple of questions regarding these projects which I’m not sure I’ll get an answer to, but thought I’d give it a go.

1) Internal promotion: how often does this happen? Is there scope to move up within the team?

2) Pay review: when I first started my pay was reviewed in the first couple of weeks and I was quite lucky and got an increase, does the team ever review that again, or is that something we would need to approach the project lead about?

3) Team changes: I’ve never noticed a large number of people being on/off boarded, the group size has stayed pretty constant, but I have recently noticed that there’s a lot of names in the slack that I didn’t recognise 6 months ago, and I was wondering if sometimes the same project will run with separate cohorts who then get put on the same part of a project.

4) How definitive is the 40 hour per week cap? Can exceptions to that ever be made or is there no way beyond that?

Hey everyone. I have given several technical interviews on Micro1 now, and I keep getting rejected every single time. It feels really frustrating but I will keep trying.
