Being clear, this isn't a Microsoft-backed data center. Its a third party DC builder building a project and then selling that capacity, which happens to be sold to Microsoft. Any of the allegations would be aligned to the builder and I strongly doubt Microsoft is driving anything beyond a delivery date and capacity requirements.

Nope. Microsoft contracted Nebius to build this for $17.4 billion. You think they didn't know what was going on?

They're leasing capacity, they didn't contract them to build shit. Microsoft doesn't have one single say in what the lessor does.

They absolutely do. If I hire an exterminator and they're careless with rat poison and it kills my neighbor's dog, I'm partially responsible.

The fact that this was a multi-billion dollar deal and the company they hired is posioning school kids makes this is magnitudes worse.

If they didn't know, they should have, given the massive investment, and if they did know and didn't care or looked the other way... that's horrendous. Either way, they (and the contractor) should be held responsible.

Datacenters bring noise and light pollution. The way I see it is: if your soundwaves are traveling on MY property, then your profits should travel into MY bank account,

This is not socialist at all. If companies want to socialize the inconveniences of doing business, then the should socialize their profits. Otherwise, they should not impact us at all. I am so tired of seeing these AI bros touted as "capitalists" when in reality they are welfare kings. The taxpayers are forced to subsidize them. Clearly, these tech moguls are not "pulling themselves up my their bootstraps".

Datacenter construction must be halted nationwide and AI companies should be fined for the fraud they've committed against the American people; and also fined for the massive environmental damage they've done.
