The abandoned St Stanislaus College in Ireland was founded by the Jesuits in 1818 and housed up to 40 boarders until it closed in 1886.
Back in its heyday, life here was defined by strict routine. The boys went to 6:00am study in unheated halls with rugs over their knees and ate meals of tea, bread, and dry crusts in silence. Discipline was enforced with a leather bat, dealing out punishments of up to 18 hand strikes.
The grounds, kept pristine by a donkey-drawn mower, once held gravel football matches, six-foot stilt fights, and cricket.
In its later years, it was used as a retreat centre and nursing home.
