No vinaigrette and no creme caramel

How is one supposed to eat salad without vinaigrette? It’s on the plan, not on the plate…

"Creme caramel" is yet another non-savory yoghurt.

I don’t expect a michelin star dinner from a hospital but it’s not even normal hospital food atp

I think I’d cry. “Creme caramel” to NATURE PLAIN yogurt is almost insulting.

Where I volunteer the elders usually receive a “salad” it’s shredded lettuce. If you are lucky you may see a tiny bit of carrots. At least they always include a vinaigrette.

Not at all. I told them I can eat anything. And for my health it's even better to eat a lot of calories.

I didn't realize that French and English use these words differently.

In French, salade can mean both the prepared dish and the leafy vegetable itself. Laitue is more specific: it means lettuce. So in French, lettuce is one type of salade, alongside things like chicory, escarole or lamb’s lettuce.

In English, salad usually means the prepared dish, while lettuce only means laitue. There is no single everyday English word that matches the broader French meaning of salade.

Ohhh that’s interesting to know 🤓 In Australia ‘salad’ generally signifies more than lettuce. It can be as simple as lettuce, cucumber and tomato. OR be 5-10 ingredients. Salads in Australia can be as little or as many ingredients as our creativity takes us. Obviously using ingredients that go well together. Also often with some kind of protein. I can’t say that I’ve ever tried just lettuce and vinaigrette. That would not feel complete to me. 🤓

I didn't ask. Last time I asked, about a year ago, they said that this is not contractual and they give what they have, which is not always what's written (rarely in fact). I didn't include in the picture that the "carottes râpées" were in fact green beans because it's a bit less infuriating than the 2 in the picture - even though I can't eat these beans but I'd gladly have eaten those carrots.

The nurses station usually has condiments. Plus these days you can usually contact the kitchen via text.

I have a remote control that calls them from bed. But they have to come first to see why I call and come back with what I need.

Everyday I ask something about food, sometimes I just call them for a bottle of water; I feel uncomfortable calling 10 times a day for something small. So I only asked for the salad sauce and said nothing about the yoghurt and green beans 😭

oh no they have very little to prepare, i'm in a chill side of the emergencies and it's the nurses that heat food and prepare the trays

but i asked for the vinaigrette, felt bad to ask for creme caramel and the wrong starter too...

FYI crème dessert caramel isn’t the same as creme caramel. Crème caramel is a flan, whereas crème dessert is pudding (you can look up the brand danette to see what it looks like)

Blergh. You can add a dollop of plain yogurt plus the salt and pepper to the salad and it might make it palatable.

Okay but this is my dream because vinaigrette is bloody horrible and it always surprise ruins salads and when it's on it's impossible to just wipe off because it's in all the crevices and even wiping every leaf individually it tastes so strong it's impossible to fully get rid of and yeah

Because I don't like the taste? I'm not sure why, I just don't. I can't even begin to explain what exactly is bad about it, it's so strong it's hard for me to pinpoint a particular bit.

Evidently many other people do like it, but not me haha.

I hated it azs well, but I came to like vinaigrettes because I use better olive oil now, and I used to taste only highly-vinegar-concentrated vinaigrettes. You should try making one yourself with the dose you want and not too much balsamic.
