No, what really pisses people off is the handicappers that leave there motorized cart out in the parking area.

You got to the store, you parked in the handicap space, you had to get into the store, to get your cart.

You're done, put your groceries in your vehicle, and then leave the cart outside. Meaning it doesn't get charged for the next person that might need to use it.

Those are the most lazy and arrogant f******** ever, you had to walk in to get it, you could just as easily drive it back up and walk back out. Sure it might be painful sure it might be whatever the f*** is going on with you that requires you to use a cart, but you still had to go in the store to get one, why not put it back? You think they just charge themselves magically from wherever they are?

The only way people will return carts is if they have a pay a dollar to use them and then return them to get their dollar back. My grocery store does this and you never see carts lying about. I've always wondered why Costco doesn't do this? They've got a whole team of cart retrievers working full time. And their parking lots are massive.

They do. I live in the US and shop Aldi. Here's what I do:

If I use my own quarter, I take the cart back and get my quarter out of it. If I happen to find a cart that someone else left a quarter in, I'll grab that cart, and do exactly what I do normally (take the cart back), but leave the quarter in for someone else to not have to use their own.

I've never seen a cart corral built into the curbs like that, that's kinda neat. I live in a snowy part of the US and our corrals can be moved so plows can get all the snow. Otherwise, this would get blocked up by snow constantly.

I remember one lady made a post online boasting about her not putting the cart back, white woman, she was one of those put the cart on the curb people, she claimed that because she takes her kids with her to the grocery story she’s not leaving her kids alone that long to walk her cart back.

I like to think this as systemic workarounds vs. social responsibility.

Because dealing with stray carts is part of the workers’ job, it can create a “someone else will deal with it” mentality. Rather than reinforcing shared responsibility, we tend to rely on systemic workarounds like cart corrals, wheel-locking magnets, or quarter-deposit locks.
