I just wanted a hot dog Doctor’s appointment scheduled at 9:00am, still waiting almost an hour later

I have a lot of doctor’s appointments, and I know how busy and hard these people work. I’m not mad at them and I’d never be rude. I know it’s not on purpose. Nevertheless, it’s still a bit infuriating to make time for a scheduled appointment, arrive 15 minutes early (required), and then wait this long with not even an acknowledgment of the delay from anyone. Sigh. 9:55 now, still waiting.

Edit: I really appreciate all the comments! The doctor ended up coming in shortly after 10. This was a specialist ortho appointment for my shoulder. Still no acknowledgement of the delay, which would’ve been nice, but I’m more annoyed that my concerns were pretty much brushed off again during the whole 3ish minutes he spent with me. I know waits can get long, I wouldn’t care as much if the doctor had at least seemed somewhat concerned with my issue. Sigh… gotta love American healthcare!

I had an appointment with my gynecologist after work, so about 5:30pm. I was taken into the exam room, told to undress and given a paper gown. I waited and waited for over an hour, periodically peeking out into the hallway. Suddenly, all the lights shut off. I yelled out “Hey, I'm still in here!!!” and the lights came back on. The nurses forgot about me, the doctor was gone, and even though they apologized, I changed to a different practice.

You're assuming I encouraged anyone to damage anything permanent. Creating a disarray would probably still get billed "company losses" for the time their staff took to tidy up.

Hey fun fact: when my ex skipped town and I had to file with the court to get the payments up to date I could have only submitted a lawyer bill for reimbursement if I'd had the money to hire one. I didn't so apparently my labor as an unofficial paralegal has no value. AND YET no one working in that office will be a professional maid but you bet your ass they'd be awarded reimbursement for their efforts.

It's all screwed, and if you think it isnt that screwed then count your good fortune that you were born into such circumstances that shelter you from these parts of life. It's absurd out here. The double standards are a mass casualty event that isnt being recorded. So uh yeah duh I absolutely dont care if a hospital system with more net worth than most developing nations has to reorganize the shelves and maybe order a few more tongue depressors, and I think centering that in a conversation about how low the bar is for the medical field to bare minimum... show up... is embarrassing.

That's like someone holding their own head on but dispatch choosing to instead RUSH a milkshake via EMS to the CEO because they were signing off on denying a 4yo cancer patients treatment when they got a paper cut and now they are crying hysterically for comfort while cursing the sick. I just dont care other than to figure out if I want to laugh incredulously or vomit from disgust that anyone would defend it.

Okay, so anyone that feels slighted by medicine ought to be able to trash their doctor's office with no consequences. And if not that means the legal system is a HELLSCAPE. And not being able to trash your doctor's office with impunity makes you SICK. That's what you're saying...?

Your struggles with reading comprehension are noted. Either that or you're a doctor who learns the legal hellscape to trash patients bodies with impunity but quakes in their loafers about the possibility they may have to ask their staff to reorganize some drawers before their office will be restored or even improved from before it was disheveled by karma.

I mean if you wreak havoc in a drs office I don’t think it’s that unreasonable to expect to get sued. It doesn’t matter if they forgot about you first, that isn’t the way life works.

Just leave one glove in every room. Steal all but the child sized BP cuffs. Take ALL the thermometer covers. Find a list of employees (on a whiteboard) and print a fake salary list. Make sure the highest liscences have the lowest salaries. Take all the phone cords.

My husband has to open, look at, or touch every single thing in the exam room. Pace around, talk loud…if it’s been long enough he throws in some colorful words…It used to mortify me. Now I laugh, especially when doc walks in while he is doing it. Stop making us wait so long!!

Lol. I was born in '94. So, I experienced that iteration of the internet, as well. 2010-ish internet, give or take three years, was just my favorite: Tumblr. MLIA. XKCD. Figuring out MySpace layouts, and top 5s. Social media without the almighty algorithm. Happening upon new art and music organically.

And I just remember reading a bunch of stuff with this, "Remember you have free will. Who's going to stop you from being a goofy goober?" vibe around that time.

I was born in 1980. I saw my schools first computer installed in the library (apple lle). I grew up on dos and floppy disks. While the internet existed in some form in the late 80's for me it was the AOL and yahoo era that really got stuff moving. ICQ, and chat rooms were the original reddit lol
