I just wanted a hot dog Doctor’s appointment scheduled at 9:00am, still waiting almost an hour later

I have a lot of doctor’s appointments, and I know how busy and hard these people work. I’m not mad at them and I’d never be rude. I know it’s not on purpose. Nevertheless, it’s still a bit infuriating to make time for a scheduled appointment, arrive 15 minutes early (required), and then wait this long with not even an acknowledgment of the delay from anyone. Sigh. 9:55 now, still waiting.

Edit: I really appreciate all the comments! The doctor ended up coming in shortly after 10. This was a specialist ortho appointment for my shoulder. Still no acknowledgement of the delay, which would’ve been nice, but I’m more annoyed that my concerns were pretty much brushed off again during the whole 3ish minutes he spent with me. I know waits can get long, I wouldn’t care as much if the doctor had at least seemed somewhat concerned with my issue. Sigh… gotta love American healthcare!

I had an appointment with my gynecologist after work, so about 5:30pm. I was taken into the exam room, told to undress and given a paper gown. I waited and waited for over an hour, periodically peeking out into the hallway. Suddenly, all the lights shut off. I yelled out “Hey, I'm still in here!!!” and the lights came back on. The nurses forgot about me, the doctor was gone, and even though they apologized, I changed to a different practice.

My OB is always late. Once was nearly 1.5 hours. We went and did a Costco shop and came back.

Which is great cause pregnancy means now I'm here every 2 weeks for a ten minute appointment.

The birth rate thing is so frustrating, cause from an actual demographics standpoint stuff like not having enough employees for an economy to work and elder care, is a problem. You just have to go look at what is starting in South Korea over the next 10 years for a preview of the challenges shrinking populations are going to cause in other developed nations 30 years from now.

But the very real issue has been twisted by the fucking right wing chuds to such an extent that just stating hey we might have a problem with 1 person for every 6-8 grandparents in maintaining economies and not just letting old people rot and die just makes people scream you are some forced birth monster.

the really wild thing is that the whole problem is very easily solved...

...with immigration. and the US is in a much better position for that than Korea and Japan are.

I have willingly chosen to be the old person who rots and dies to protect my children from experiencing the same. Well, not exactly. I won't live to see old age. But the fate is the same, and at least I have ended the generational curse of orphanages and foster care for my bloodlines children when a disabled parent works themselves TO DEATH attempting to protect their kids. Hey did you know my local foster care is on the recorded admitting to having a problem with their kids disappearing and later being found in sex trafficking but they deny having the resources needed to stop it? Aka someone is profiting from fking kids and not investing any of it into caring for the kids who ain't getting r*ped. Hey did you know my grandmother hid by the furnace when potential adoptive parents came bc of how often she saw girls returned with their "dads" baby in their arms who was then ripped away and adopted out bc people want to adopt babies? HEY did you know my great grandmother died at 38yo because she sprained her ankle and giving her any down time was apparently not OK so they pumped her full of God knows what until she became bedridden and died from a surgery to remove all her teeth bc they hypothesized it was a dental infection that had her so exhausted? HEY DID YOU KNOW that all of her children went to the orphanage and some died there because dad's werent expected to care for their kids and just found a new wife and a new family if the mom from their first family died?

Society has for generations allowed the disabled to rot and die without a peep of opposition from the populace who, generally speaking, has a 1 in 4 chance of becoming disabled before retirement age.

Letting people rot and die is not and has never been their concern. They would rather cull the population of anyone who isnt profitable and force shiney new able bodied humans into the population just to send them to the glue factory the second they need medical care or support as well.

I acknowledge the problem you've so respectfully presented. And I respectfully present a larger context. I cannot in full awareness give them any credit for advocating for the elderly in a world where theyre ACTIVELY cannibalizing the elderly by stealing from social security funds. I also lived in an elderly building as a person with mobility issues and TRUST ME whatever funds you think are going to provide for them are actually being used to institutionalize and abuse them. The children and grandchildren they helped raise are not showing up to care for them because this economy and everything about our quality of life has afforded them no extra space in their homes, no extra time in their day, no extra food in their pantry, and no extra energy to spend on generating any of that for their elderly loved ones. At best, their kids and grandkids get them out of there for dinner at the holidays, or swing their prescriptions by under extenuating circumstances and stay just long enough to list their excuses and regrets that they cannot stay longer or visit more frequently.

Yes the replacement rate is a staggering tragedy, but it is a symptom not the cause. And yes I think there is no reason good enough to force anyone to give birth, and anyone claiming otherwise is a fkn monster. Correct.

Fixing the replacement rate means creating an environment where the human populace doesnt collectively experience zoochosis from the prevalence of neglect and abuse. You'll know you have succeeded when people willingly start having families again. Point blank, end of discussion, zero room for BuT if Th3y w3r3 JuSt FORCED t0 pr0cr3aT3 SURELY aLL w0uLd b3 w3LL?????

We had a healthy replacement rate. They pushed the margins well past anything functional and now we don't. Forcing someone to give birth just means they have more souls to munch on. Trickle down anything is a lie.

What are you talking about? They clearly solved the birth crisis by banning abortions! They just want the crime rates to go up again in a couple decades when all the unwanted kids grow up into lives of crime and poverty. Exactly what the leaders want. More free slave prison labor
