It just turns words with many rhymes into guessing, it’s not ‘harder’ to guess the correct first letter here.

Part of the skill of hard mode is optimising your guesses before you get stuck in this loop

This is not the typical case. It is a niche thing that the wordle devs failed to foresee.

Yeah I just don’t think the writers care much about arbitrary hinderances but yeah

They don't. The woman in charge of wordle has done interviews and she just arbitrarily selects words that break her own "rules" on occasion, such as "no onomatopoeia".
