Anywhere taking donations of fabric?

I’ve asked the scrap store. And they can’t take any more at present. Do you know of anywhere taking fabric? I’ve got loads to go, but don’t just want to dump it. However, I also don’t have time to fuck about all over the city taking bits here and bits there. I tried doing a sale on Sunday and no one came. I need the space asap, so would love some ideas thanks

update: I tried Hong Kong Furzton today as a result of this post, the online menu prices were less than the real prices as I think theyve gone up over the weekend. food was pretty good, less heavy/greasy than others and good portions.

Please dont suggest:

- New hong kong Emerson (our usual)

- St Mary's Oxley (went before, downhill)

- MoKitchen (didn't like)

- Voongs (didnt like)

Enlighten me please.

Deep dish and fast food type (dominoes and the likes), not this time please.

Making connections

Hey,

I’m still finding people to connect with through hobbies.

I’m into playing sports, going gym, video games, and guitar.

Happy to meet at a café.

Prefer to meet those in their late 20s - early 30s.

Are there any aviation/model plane shops in the area?

I will be going to MK for a work trip, and I've heard there are some plane shops in Buckinghamshire. I'll be there for a week, so have plenty of time to check out a few shops. I will have a car so can go out 20-30 minutes if needed.

Looking for a temporary cat fosterer for my cat

Hi, I’m posting on behalf of a friend who is currently going through a very difficult situation and is urgently looking for temporary foster care for his cats.

He was recently forced to leave his home as he no longer felt safe there. He is currently homeless and living in his car, and has also recently lost his job. He is trying to get emergency accommodation through the council and is doing everything he can to get back on his feet and find stable work and housing.
His biggest concern right now is his cats. He absolutely does not want to give them up permanently. They mean everything to him and are one of the main things keeping him going through this difficult time and in life.

He is worried that if he is offered emergency accommodation, pets may not be allowed. Unfortunately, he cannot currently afford to rent somewhere pet-friendly as his savings are very limited and he needs to prioritise food and essential supplies for himself and his cats.

He is therefore desperately looking for someone trustworthy who may be able to temporarily foster his cats until he can secure stable accommodation and get back on his feet. He would be incredibly grateful for any help, advice, or recommendations for reputable foster organisations or individuals who may be able to help. (He already contacted a lot of cat organisations but most of them can’t help him right now or no reply)

To be completely clear, this is only temporary, he wants to be reunited with his cats once he is in stable accommodation. He is not looking to rehome them permanently.

If anyone knows of any charities, rescue organisations, temporary foster schemes, or kind individuals who could help, please comment or message me. Any advice or support would mean so much to him and his cats. ❤️

He has 2 cats he wants to foster and 2 of their kitten to rehome if anyone is interested

Looking for a used car

Moving to MK soon and looking to buy a second hand car. Nothing extravagant. Something around £2k. Automatic. Gotta run properly. Clean record. Need AC. Others are negotiable. What are my options here besides AutoTrader and fb marketplace?

What’s one genuinely great thing in Milton Keynes that more people should know about?

Could be a restaurant, cafe, walk, shop, event, activity, view, weird little place - anything really.

Not necessarily the obvious stuff either. I’m thinking more along the lines of places/things you’d recommend to someone who actually lives here rather than someone visiting for the day.

What's yours?

Virgin Hot Air Balloon flying dangerously low

I was in MK a few days ago, and this video was taken on the 13th or 14th floor of a hotel. Maybe it's not that low, but it seems like a lot could go wrong in a built-up area. A cool sight to see while having my breakfast though.

Hiya Reddit! I’ll be hosting MK’s weekly Empty Chairs session at Furzton Lake tmrw at 3pm. I normally hang an orange jacket over a high chair near the bar.

If you’re struggling with life alone or just need someone to sit with in silence, you’re more than welcome to join us. We’ve got a small but lovely bunch who come weekly and I don’t want anyone feeling like they’re journeying through life’s ups and downs alone.

Come say hi! DM me if you’ve any questions and read more about the initiative here: https://emptychairs.org.uk

Looking to make some friends / join a club in MK

Hey everyone, I’ve been feeling quite lonely and depressed lately and I’m trying to get out more and meet people.
Can anyone recommend a friendly sports club or community/social group in Milton Keynes where I could join and make some friends? I’m open to pretty much anything.
Would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks 🙏

Moving to MK, need advice and recommendations on safe place to live

Planning to move to Milton Keynes for a job starting in a few weeks. The office is located in MK9.

My preference would be something close to the train station (ideally within walking distance) and near some shops for groceries. Would also apprecite it if anyone has any gym recommendations in the area.

I'd love to hear any recommendations for places to stay and area to avoid.

Thanks in advance

Edit - to add a bit more info

I do have a car but, do want to save as much as i can on fuel.

Why are there queues of black people outside the butchers in Bletchley?

Some time back I saw a really long queue almost all black people at Palmers butchers. Are they refugees? Why are they queuing there when there's another buchers across the road?
