Tech Question Where to start?

I'm new to this but I'm very hyped, are you guys building your own mini's, do you guys have any tutorials?

I started with a swap meet vintage minibike I picked up for $200 then, added a predator ghost engine, rear tire, eBay seat......... It is a fun bike but, a little too small for my old ass to ride comfortably.

I bought a Coleman B200RSV and that is more to my liking with at least some suspension and disc breaks.

For build information, look at YT for Black66, Redbeards and barrios builds video's. All those guys are pretty good at what they do on YT.

I started with a stock Coleman cc100x, rode it for a while to get used to the ride.

Got a predator 212 and did an engine swap with new 6” SUNF street tires. Nice straightforward upgrade, huge improvement already over stock.

The rest is just performance enhancement. Governor delete, stage 1 camshaft, 22lb valve springs, flat top piston, nibbi carburetor and an aluminum flywheel from amazon, a juggernog torque converter from gopowersports, with a 12t front and 50t rear sprocket on a 420 chain. All of that nets me a top speed hovering around 55mph, with enough torque to still want to do wheelies.

At this point, hydraulic brakes were a must, along with a thumb controlled throttle cable (no whisky throttling for me, thank you).

I second watching black66 on YouTube, he does quite a few upgrades for performance, and he shows the cheap upgrades and the expensive ones along with performance data.

I jumped back into mini bikes by getting a welder from harbor freight, sourcing a bunch of scrap to metal (shopping carts from thrift yard) drawing a frame design and then a lot of cutting and welding it all up.

In my opinion the best way because you've learned a bunch of skills along the way.

Get a nice one new, or a running one on marketplace. slowly add mods. And fix issues you come across and learn that way

Facebook Marketplace is a good place to start if you don't want to spend too much, otherwise if you know your way around a welder there are some plans online for various minibike frames. Good engines to look for if you buy off marketplace (or need an engine for your build) would be most predator/Honda engines, like the 212 and the gx200.

I was thinking on starting mine from scratch, like do the wielding and buying a second hand motor and so, lol
