Hello Internet MS people. My cat went missing today around noon and I'm hoping this isn't against any rules to post asking for help with finding her. Her name is Jinx, she's about 9 or 10 years old and is a small, short cat. Mostly white with orange and black splotches, I'll attach a couple pictures below. We think she got out of the house somehow and is roaming the woods behind the Dollar General right off of the HWY before you turn onto Long ST. DM me or comment if you see or hear anything. I am prepared to financially compensate if someone brings her back home to me.

In a different post about funding (that was removed for being about other state's funding of DIL), I shared that the southern MS counties get Dolly's Imagination Library with community funding partner United Way of South MS.

In September, the Library Foundation of Hancock County will be matching donations up to $30,000, to launch access for kids to get a free book every month to age 5.

You can also donate to United Way of South Mississippi to benefit the other counties covered by this community funding partner.

This is information only for people interested in this program. The main site may point to how other parts of the state are funding this program, and whether other libraries are partnering with DIL.

I got a speeding ticket in Perry County from a State Trooper who said I was going 82 in a 65. I was quite surprised because when I was pulled over there was a semi beside me, and a car in front of me that I was passing the semi with. Semi was speeding, but swerving so everyone was passing it.

When he pulled me over, I told him well I was passing but I never drive that fast. I stopped going over 80 a longgg time ago.

Anyways, the ticket says that I was driving a totally different car. I understand that typos are considered clerical errors, but he said I was driving a 2026 Honda SUV. And there was a white Honda SUV in front of me when I was pulled over. And they were definitely driving faster than me. Guess I need to invest in a dashboard camera…

Can I contest this by saying that I think he pulled over the wrong person? All my citations have fallen off and I haven’t been pulled over for speeding in 3 years. I really just don’t want it on my record.

Edit to add: my last citation fell off my record last month. So I technically have a “clean” driving record now

My brother has had a shoulder issue that needs to be fixed with surgery and is going through Dr. Ferguson to get it fixed. But today, he was told by Dr. Ferguson that the doctor doesn't want to do the surgery. And this is coming off of a year of having the run around by said doctor. Any legal advice is welcomed and if there is another Dr that can be recommended is helpful!

A good friend has an older Chevy Equinox in need of a new timing belt. She’s gotten a couple of quotes in the $2,000 range, for a vehicle probably not worth $4,000. She is on a very limited income and works two jobs, and is also the primary caregiver for a disabled Vet in their home. She’s extremely proud and reluctant to accept help (much less ask for it), so I’m seeking out recommendations for preferred mechanics in the area, to make sure she’s getting the best quote she can.

For anyone living in the Southaven area, avoid using Instant Car Fix. I had to try a different option to fix my car because Firestone and Pep and Boys didn’t have any technicians working on a Sunday.

They took my card info, told me my ID didn’t work, didn’t send anyone out my way, told me I had to cancel then tried to charge $320 for cancelling. When I tried to dispute being charged for no appointment/service, they’d send me through to a voicemail. Eventually, they said they need me to sign off on $320 then they’ll cancel the fees after.

Ended up freezing my card. Eventually, they cancelled the appointment but it was sketchy all around.

Not sure the best option on a Sunday but it’s not Instant Car Fix!

I’m based in Hattiesburg and recently launched a clothing brand called Estrah. I come from a manufacturing background, so I probably spent way too much time obsessing over the actual product (fabric, weight, construction, sourcing, etc.) and not enough time figuring out distribution.

The site is finally live and the product is ready, but now I’m at the classic “okay... how do I actually get people to find this?” stage.

For anyone here who has built an online business from Mississippi: what actually got you your first customers?

Local events? Facebook? Reddit? Google? TikTok? Word of mouth? Just relentlessly talking to people?

Also happy to take criticism on the website/product/price. I’d rather hear what looks wrong now than spend months figuring it out the hard way.

We love to try new things, outdoor adventure, animals, horseback riding(any specific scenic riding spots in Colorado)?snorkeling/wildlife, amazing food, nightlife, live music, comedy, arcades, museums, history, quirky towns and shops, unique Airbnbs/B&Bs, scenic spots, interactive experiences, amusement parks, trains, and anything unusual, unforgettable or super special and unique.

I especially want an up-close ethical elephant experience (my favorite animal and his are turtles so anything with turtles do tell please) and we want to find a huge/beautiful tree to photograph in every state and collect a unique keepsake from each state; we’d also love to get a caricature done somewhere along the way. What are the hidden gems, must-try foods, coolest experiences, weird roadside attractions, incredible trees, unique places to stay, or “you absolutely cannot pass through my state without doing this” recommendations for any of these states? Give me the stuff you’d recommend to your best friend, not just the obvious tourist attractions!
