Hello everyone, Male in my 40s. New to Montreal and wondering places where they play good vibes music like music in the 90s Rnb, hip hop, soul etc… just a place where a grown man could chill, have a drink as he listens to some good music and just ruminate about life!
Any recommendations?
I am not the loud blasting music type

****AUG 30 Update ****: A coding error destroyed Montreal's saved listings and they will need to be recreated, which will take a few days. So the site current has Montreal as "pending". Super annoying and sorry for the inconvenience!!!
As a Montreal student 20 years ago, my weekly ritual was simple: grab a fresh Montreal Mirror, flip straight to the music listings, and work my way through basically every band. I discovered a ridiculous amount of great music that way.
These days I live in Vancouver, but I’m back in Montreal often and still try to catch shows. The problem: the Mirror is gone, and figuring out what’s playing now feels weirdly like detective work. Vancouver has the same issue. Listings are scattered everywhere, and apparently having young kids means I no longer have three hours to Google every band on a Tuesday night.
So I built Music at Eight.
It uses AI to hunt down local show listings, then connects each artist to Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Spotify, etc. There’s also a play button right beside each band, so you can immediately hear what they sound like instead of opening 17 tabs. It also shows genre and where the artist is from.
Basically, it’s a second brain for live-music nerds.
I started with Vancouver and just expanded it to Montreal. It’s currently tracking 100+ venues and shows up to 90 days out.
I’m pretty removed from the Montreal scene these days, though, so I’d love to hear from you guys! Did I miss any important venues?

Any serious musicians in this group that are looking to join a new music project?
Style: Alt, stoner, blues, indie, rock with a bit of dark pop depending on the song. A sort of Arctic Monkeys meets The National and The Weeknd sort of thing, again depending on the song.
Looking for preferably experienced artists that know their sound/instruments well and have some live experience. Hit me up if this sounds interesting to you in any way or if you have suggestions of other groups I can post on.
Thanks!

Merci!
Hey Montreal musicians! We`re a relatively new project, started this year - I wanted to hear your opinions on the value of little promo videos like this one... We`re also focused on shows, and will have 10 in Montreal under our belt for 2026... Your constructive feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

I've got a little site called MOPS where I drop a new edition every week. New releases worth hearing, singles and videos released that week and some music writing. No ads, no algorithm, just me sharing new finds with friends.
Have a look if you're into it: www.mopsnews.me
