Video This is the first Moth I've ever fed in my life (not any Butterfly too). This baby is just one day old after hatch from Chrysalis. Such a moment!

My hands were shaking, I was so nervous because he is so fragile.

His proboscis was hidden deep inside, this made me even more nervous because I was afraid I could hurt him. On youtube, I see all the moths leaving the proboscis out a little, why this one so different?

The way he moved his head each time he sucked looks so adorable.

But my hands were so crude, made him lost a lots of fur on his back. Shiet!

Golden emperor moths are one of my favourite moths if not my favourite. I just love their little personalities, they are so chill.

Lebeau's silk moth (Rothschildia lebeau)
These guys have rather large windows on their wings to allow them to blend into their surroundings. They are distributed from the Lower Rio Grande Valley through eastern Mexico to Brazil. Out of all the moths I raise, these guys love to exhibit thanatosis (playing dead) the most. Very cool!

I’ve placed him on a towel by the window for now, but I don’t really know much about them. Anyway I can help the poor guy? Or do I just wait for him to dry?

EDIT: experts have informed me it will actually be a Polyphemus moth!! Still exciting
Found this guy struggling yesterday (8/31) in the 109 degree Fahrenheit heat we are having in Kansas. Took him in and grabbed leaves and sticks from the walnut tree next door. I could tell they were already close to cocooning based on size but the next day I came in (9/1) he cocooned!!! I’m so excited to see his journey. Butterfly enclosure will be here by Friday and I’ll prop the sticks up in there and mist him every so often. Let me know if you have any advice!
I also realize it is pretty late in the season so if someone could tell me if we should refrigerate or let him go through the metamorphosis naturally.
