Tired of asking quotes to "your" brokers who say they can improve your rates ( currently 267 gsxr1000 k7, 712 mercedes viano v6 3.0 cdi and duplex appartment in bruges 206 eur) will add now bmw s1000xr ( 79kw papers).

Went to a guy for the taxes and he said he could do ultra better without the new motorcycle, emailed him adding the bmw to the pack and of course nothing back from him.

Asked my currently insurer (ACM via beobank) weeks ago and of course not even a quote.

Tried online but nothing really ( yuzuu ´500 for the new bmw, yes? really?)

all of them I want basic insurance just the van european assistance.

Any hint? Anyone working in insurances wants to dip in?

Ik heb recent eens gekeken naar de kost om een motor in te schrijven (BIV). Blijkbaar zijn 90% van de motoren < €100 BIV en maar 1% > €500. Gemiddelde BIV €87.

De huidige regeling kijkt nog steeds naar de kracht van de motor (kw & cc) i.p.v de uitstoot of ecologische impact zoals al wordt toegepast voor autos.

Nu ben ik persoonlijk een liefhebber van 1000cc racemotoren, deze vallen helaas heel vaak in de hoogste categorieën. Namelijk 121-155kw: €2478 en 155+kw: €4957. Een motor zoals de Aprilia RSV4 met 159kw komt dus neer op een aankoop prijs van €27100 + €5030 verkeersbelasting. In een recent artikel (2025, https://www.motoren-toerisme.be/nieuws/belgische-motormarkt-sportieve-motorfietsen-opnieuw-trek) wordt deze motor door een Aprilia verdeler als "quasi onverkoopbaar" bestempeld net door die extra BIV kost.

Hierbij dus mijn vraag: zou je wel een zware motor kopen als deze niet onderhevig is aan de huidige BIV kosten?

However it looks like finding a marketplace with a good amount of active offers for bikes is rather difficult to find, and if I do find some it’s usually the same brand and model of bikes everyone seems to own. Where did you guys find your bike and where would you recommend to look? (AS24, 2dehands, etc).

Basically I'm learning how to drive a motorcycle at the Antwerpse Rijschool and it's not going well, I have a hard time communicating with the instructors, there is a clear language barrier and some other issues.I would have loved to get to learn how to handle a bike by myself a little bit more because I feel like the teaching time at the school will definitely not be enough for me to practice what I'm lacking

Is there anyone out there around Antwerp on its great goodness who would agree to teach me some about driving a motorcycle ?

I know it's a very weird thing to ask but that would be very nice from anyone willing to accept and I would be deeply grateful

I recently bought a motorcycle and I’m planning to use it for my daily commute to work from Leuven to Brussels.

Whenever I drive the E40 by car during rush hour, I rarely see motorcyclists. Which has me wondering

Is the E40 avoided by riders? Is it considered dangerous? How is lane filtering during peak traffic on this section? Especially when entering the Brussels ring? Or do motorcyclists prefer other routes?

I'd appreciate any insights, routine tips, or alternative route recommendations from riders doing this commute regularly. Thanks!

I am gonna have to try to pass the exam again to get my licence but im really nervous and I dont what to fail because it cost SO MUCH money.

Almost every motorcycle I encounter is going over the speed limit or does a traffic violation just to be ‘faster’. This highly frustrates me.

I have a bit of a weird question: I want to buy a new motorcycle that is not for sale in the Benelux. From my research I can purchase it in Spain without VAT, request an E705 in Belgium and pay 21% VAT based on the invoice from the Spanish dealership to the Belgian government. Since the motorcycle comes with the EU certificate of conformity I don’t see any risk in doing this, but want to check if anyone has done this before.

ive imported used motorcycles before, and never had any issues doing so, but a new one is slightly different since it has never been registered before and there is the thing with the VAT that is owed. the EU rules states that for a new vehicle you only need to pay VAT once, in the country where the vehicle will be registered. (not to be confused with the B2B purchasing of good in EU and importing those).

so any experience would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

So I recently came in possession of a Harley Davidson Pan America, which is now standing on French plates. I need to import it into Belgium.

I have some questions.
1) If I sell my current bike, will I be able to keep my license plate for the Harley (not that important but would be nice)

2) It has a screaming eagle exhaust mounted with no baffler. My Yamaha also hasn't got a baffler and I never got into any trouble with it. Will this cause problems? What are my options when GOCA doesnt like my exhaust? The Harley dealer proposed to go to the control with my motor, and they would mount the original exhaust for the control, then change it back. But they charge 400 euro's for this which sounds steep.

What would you do?

I want to buy an BMW S1000RR and just park it naked in the street in Ghent? maybe with a disklock.

Will this certainly get stolen within the year? What are the odds? I live near citadelpark a student neighborhood. I see some other bikes parked here but all with a tarp, but this does not seem practical for me.

If I put it full of airtags, gps-4g trackers, will I be able to recover my bike if it gets stolen?

EDIT: Thanks to everyone recommending a garage and not actually responding to the question at hand. Most of you belong at stackoverflow. I had not thought of that myself since I'm such an idiot. When the next garage becomes available thats not a 5 minute walk I'll do that.

I listened to all the feedback about the VSV driving course and followed it about 2 months ago now.

It was a very good experience and learned more about my bike then I thought.

The feedback from the instructors was also really on point and they know what they are saying.

Now comes the hard part to keep practicing the 8 on parking lots xD.

Hi. Laatste weken heb Ik zoveel autos gehad die tegen mn achterwiel plakten en vandaag een auto dat voorbij stak tussen mij en een bestelwagen (op een 2 vak rijbaan!) Tegen 80+ heb ik er genoeg van.

Graag hoor ik wat verkooptips. Ik heb schrik voor int zak gezet te worde. Ik hoop natuurlijk om zoveel mogelijk van de investering terug te krijgen.

Des recommandations/bon plans pour faire son shopping équipement moto dans la province de Liège ou du Luxembourg ?

Hello guys. It's my first time that I'm buying a moto in belgium and I found a lovely Ducati 750 sport 2002 that is currently in my back yard. When i got the bike I didn't know what documents I should have expected the person to give me.

Long story short, I have everything besides the part 2 of the immatriculation papers. I have a technial inspection from 2023 too that he did and was passed successfully.

This person keeps claiming that if I go to do technical inspection, they are going to give me the pink paper for first immatricolation without having to show them the part 1 and part 2 of the immatriculation papers.

Have you had a similiar story? This person seems uncollaborative to go to the police and get a report that the part 2 of the immatriculation papers is lost.

I'm looking forward to your stories... according to him, inspection centers have an extensive network with eachother and are able to check the previous owner there and they will give me the pink paper without issues.

Reading online I'm afraid this is not true... on every official website it states that these two documents needs to be declared in order to get it.

My insurance is refusing me the pink paper already on their side since i don't have this document. My next step is begging the DIV and the technical inspection in the wallonish side (liege).

Any help is appreciated :(

Ik vroeg me af of iemand hier al iets gelijkaardigs heeft meegemaakt.

Mijn motor werd ongeveer een maand en een week geleden gestolen, maar gelukkig al na ongeveer een uur teruggevonden dankzij mijn AirTag. Sindsdien staat hij echter in beslag voor sporenonderzoek. (stuurslot geforceerd)

Ik heb ondertussen al verschillende keren naar de politie gebeld, maar ik krijg telkens hetzelfde antwoord: dat ik niet het enige dossier ben en dat ze geen termijn kunnen geven. Verder krijg ik eigenlijk geen informatie…

Het is extra frustrerend omdat ik net mijn definitieve A2-rijbewijs had behaald en eigenlijk bijna de hele zomer niet heb kunnen rijden.

Heeft iemand hier ervaring mee? Hoe lang heeft het bij jullie geduurd? En is er iets dat je zelf kunt doen om het proces wat te versnellen, of is het echt gewoon afwachten? 1 maand en week vind ik persoonlijk wel lang voor enkel sporenonderzoek?
