I invited my step father on one of my annual motocamping trips with friends. I've never actually ridden with him before (besides dirt bikes and 3 wheelers when I was a kid), but he was always an influence on my love of motorcycles. I thought this would be a good way to share the love of motorcycling together. He dragged his bike to my house in Oregon & rode it the full 9 days. He's not new to motocamping, but he's DEFINITELY new to curvy roads. Having done most of his riding in Texas, he was forced to learn mountain sport riding pretty quickly.

He took instruction from me & one of my buddies. We used to be riding instructors, so my step-dad listened to what we had to say & gradually improved over the course of the trip.

I hope he gets to join us again on a future trip.

My friend and I are planning a month-long motorcycle journey across India next September, 2027 because currently I'm getting only that window after such long duration. We’ll be riding two-up (with a pillion + luggage), so safety, decent road conditions, manageable daily distances (~150–250 km max per day), and comfortable stay locations are big priorities for us.

We originally considered a Western India circuit (Rajasthan down to Goa), but we’d really love to stick to scenic mountain landscapes, lush green valleys, and unique cultural regions.

Right now, we are torn between two primary ideas, but we are open to suggestions on which region of India would be absolute best for September: 1. North East India (Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland): Proposed Loop: Guwahati ➔ Shillong ➔ Sohra (Cherrapunji) ➔ Dawki ➔ Tezpur ➔ Dirang ➔ Tawang ➔ Bomdila ➔ Kaziranga ➔ Majuli Island ➔ Kohima ➔ Khonoma ➔ Guwahati. Questions: How are the roads in mid-to-late September after the monsoon? Is riding two-up manageable through the Arunachal and Nagaland stretches?

1. The Ladakh & Zanskar Trans-Himalayan Circuit: Proposed Loop: Srinagar ➔ Kargil ➔ Zanskar (Padum) ➔ Leh ➔ Nubra Valley ➔ Pangong Tso ➔ Hanle ➔ Tso Moriri ➔ Manali. Questions: Is late September too cold or risky for high passes like Khardung La/Umling La with a pillion? How are the water crossings around that time?

2. Or somewhere else entirely? If you've done a 30-day riding trip with a spouse/pillion, which part of India would you recommend for September weather, views, and overall riding comfort?

Would love to get inputs on: Which part of India makes the most sense for a 1-month trip in September? Crucial tips for riding two-up with luggage for 30 continuous days. Any specific base locations/stay stops we shouldn't miss.

It’s been around 2.5 months since I got my RS. Work and life had been pretty overwhelming over the last few days, and my brain was completely fried. I just needed to unplug and find some silence, so yesterday I took the bike out for a Sunday solo ride.

Route: Hinjewadi → Khadakwasla → Pabe Ghat → Velhe → Torna Fort base → Hinjewadi

The stretch from Khadakwasla through Pabe Ghat and down toward Torna was pure therapy. The roads have plenty of quiet, scenic spots where you can just pull over, cut the engine, and take in the breeze without a soul around.

Trekking Torna wasn't in the plan at all, but standing right at the base tempted me to start climbing. It humbled me quickly, the incline was brutal, so I turned back midway before completely destroying my legs.

On both the way up and coming back, I gave lifts to a couple of local village elders walking along the ghat roads. It was a small gesture, but sharing the ride with them brought a genuinely wholesome kind of happiness to the trip.

Got back home yesterday evening feeling completely reset, light, and at peace. Still riding that wave of calm today.

To anyone else dealing with burnout lately: go take that ride. It works.

Hi yall! I’m taking my first full day ride from New London, CT to Hyannis (ferry to ferry) I’m on a 50cc so I’ll be taking state highways and I top at 45/50. Does anyone have route suggestions! I’m in no rush and would love nice views!

My boyfriend and I are both experienced motorcycle riders and are looking for an amazing 3–5 day motorcycle trip somewhere in Southeast Asia.

I’ve already done the Ha Giang Loop in Vietnam, and honestly, it was the best travel experience of my life. The mountain scenery absolutely blew me away — I’ve never experienced views like that anywhere else.

I’m completely willing to do Ha Giang again so my boyfriend can experience it, but he’s really interested in finding a ride that would be new for both of us.

A few things we’re looking for:

- 🏔️ Incredible mountain/scenic views are the biggest priority

- 🏍️ Ideally a 3–5 day loop or point-to-point ride

- 🌏 Anywhere in Southeast Asia

- 🛵 I prefer smaller/lighter bikes because I’m only 5'2" and don’t fit comfortably on a lot of larger adventure bikes

- 👍 We’re both experienced riders, so challenging, twisty or more adventurous roads are totally fine

- 👥 We’d prefer an organized motorcycle tour with a smaller company/group rather than a big tour. I used RoadKings in Vietnam and loved that there were only 3 riders plus the guides.

I’d especially love to hear from people who have ridden Ha Giang AND other routes around Southeast Asia. Is there anything you’ve done that genuinely compares to it — or even beats it?

I’ve been looking at Northern Thailand, other parts of Vietnam, the Philippines, Laos and Indonesia, but we’re open to anywhere.

If you had only 3–5 days and wanted the most spectacular motorcycle ride possible in Southeast Asia, where would you go?

Bonus points if you can recommend a small local tour company that actually runs the route!

I'm planning a motorcycle tour next year. Either KKH , then Pamir or just one of the two. I'm planning to purchase my own gear instead of renting, but I'm confused whether I should purchase an ADV or mesh?

I am not very familiar with what I need as I come from a tropical country.

Sometimes you don’t need a big adventure.

You don’t need a week off work, a ferry ticket or a route across a continent.

Sometimes you just need the bike, a few good roads, somewhere quiet to put the tent… and one night away from everything.

That was the whole idea behind this one. A local ride through some incredible North Wales scenery, a few favourite roads and tracks, a simple camp as the sun goes down, then pack it all up the following morning and take the long way home.

Nothing epic. Nothing complicated.

And maybe that’s the point.

Just One Night.
