Troubleshooting Carb issues perhaps?

Okay, this is gonna be a long one. I rebuilt everything on the bike, and it is making the tinny noise(shown in video), and feels like it is misfiring as it feels a bit jerky. It’s 50cc and I have tried the following jets: 50 52 55 58 60 62. 58 ran the best but was still clanking. The bike runs 20mph on full throttle, but if I go to ~80% throttle it speeds up and hits 25, which I have no clue as to why. Is it the cheap Amazon carb? Or the Reed valve? Or is it the spark system. Whatever the case, please give me your wisdom, as I have no clue what it is.

Any tripod stands that’ll bolt on here?

I want a tripod stand so I can service the wheel without needing to always lift the thing… and to maybe kickstart it (if it can hold a man’s weight)

Build Photos My first ever motorized build!

Just finished my first motorized bike. When choosing the bike I really wanted to try and get something that would actually look good with the engine kit installed and I think i succeeded. It doesn't brake all that great, rattles and required heavy modification of the exhaust and rear sprocket but I built it for fun, not practically.

And it was really fun!

Tensioner, yay or nay?

Longtime lurker here, just finished my first build and I was wondering: what's the consensus on tensioners?

I've seen posts saying they'll get sucked into the spokes or tear your leg up, and people saying they've used one for years without issue, so I'm kind of confused.

2 stroke oil is accumulating around the carb. Float valve?

Avenger85 Is this worth it?

I’d like my bike to look more like a 66cc China doll so cops can assume it’s just a 50cc pos. And how would I gut this exhaust out so I can still keep its raw sound?

Troubleshooting What size jets do these cheap carbs take.

Post image
10 Upvotes

Well it ain’t m6, is it m5 or 4 sized? The no.70 jet in it is too rich

Edit: the stock jet in appears closer to a no.80 in size, no wonder it was running extremely rich, so yeah that’s definitely getting replaced

Performance Upgrades Because I’m re jetting that “racing carb” as I’m running real rich (when leaned out this bike is actually kinda quick) I’m adding a proper tensioner.

I’m re jetting that carb down to a 65-68 jet as it runs too rich and the needle on this one is stationary, I’ve noticed when leaned out a bit this bike will run near 40mph, I don’t trust that stock tensioner at those speeds, it’s fine for the 27mph and 4 stroking tune, but not for a proper tune. So yeah upgraded tensioner. Next is the front wheel and fork (disc breaks will be added)

Edit: yeah I don’t want to wind up like the one guy on Indiana jones where he got a pole put in his spikes

Troubleshooting First build: 80cc MTB or 110cc Trike?

Hey everyone!

I'm planning my first motorized bike build on a budget. I'm choosing between two options:

-Standard MTB + 80cc Kit

-Trike + 110cc Kit (mounted in the rear basket over the axle)

Thanks for any advice!

Transporting your bike

So I just moved kinda unexpectedly from California to Texas and I want to get my bike here. I know you can bring bikes on planes, but I've had issues even bringing my rig on the bart trains, so I wouldn't be surprised if they declined a motorized bike on a plane. Anyone got experience shipping their bike or something like that? I don't have a license currently, so I can't just drive it down here. (Another reason to have my motorbike, since you need transportation to get around my hometown)

My best idea right now is to basically remove the kit and fly with my bike while I ship my motor and kit snail mail...

Weed eater bike

What is the group opinion on weed eater bikes? I've never built a motorized bike but I thought it would be fun. And after looking at the prices of engine kits, it got me thinking. Why not the weed eater method.

What seat for CG125?

I'm currently building a cafe racer. I'm using a Honda CG125. I really dont want to cut the frame as im doing it on a budget and will want to make it road legal and this will mean getting it welded. Does anyone know any seats that bolt straight on or have any ideas on getting around it? Really appreciate any help! Funnily enough this has been the most difficult part this build.

How tight is too tight,

I bought this bike knowing the clearances were tight, but now I doubt that it maybe too close from the upper bar.

I will wrap the top bar with exhaust wrap and reroute the cables on the top, but will it interfere with the head cooling?

Anyone else made thight builds or have tips I should know?
