Hi everyone,
I’m trying to find an American/English-language sci-fi movie (likely a TV movie or low/mid-budget Young Adult indie film from the late 2000s or 2010s). I watched it dubbed on Turkish TV (ATV) a few years ago.
Here are the specific plot details I remember:
Opening Scene: It starts in a regular high school classroom (science/physics class). The teacher is explaining a specific type of metal/alloy and its property of deflecting/reflecting certain rays or energy beams.
Main Character's Trait: The male teenage protagonist had an accident prior to the story and has a surgical metal plate under the skin of his cheek/jaw.
The Secret Academy: He gets sent or recruited to a secluded, high-tech academy (something like "Academy X" or "Project X") along with many other teenagers. It turns out to be an experiment facility where they test on the kids and wipe their memories afterward.
The Escape Scene: The protagonist tries to escape the facility with a girl he meets there. The staff/guards use a remote device/beam to wipe his memory from a distance, but it fails because the beam reflects off the metal plate in his cheek, keeping his memory intact and allowing them to escape.
The movie had a dystopian YA vibe similar to The Maze Runner, The Darkest Minds, or Tower Prep, but it was definitely a standalone movie rather than a TV series.
Does anyone know the title of this movie? Thanks in advance!
