Out of the three dresses, one is on sale for $699, while the other two are priced between $2500 and $3500. However, without knowing which dress is on sale, I’m torn between buying the one I love or the one that’s more affordable.

I want to ensure that I’m getting the dress that I truly love, not just because it’s on sale. To be completely honest, the price difference does make a significant impact, but I’m trying to be mindful of my budget.

So I’ve always wanted a silver wedding dress with red flowers to mix my eastern culture with western traditional dress and I’m having it custom made. It won’t be here until closer to the wedding, but I really can’t decide on which veil looks better.

I don’t really care which ages better, but I’d love any thoughts from brides, especially ones who went untraditional routes. I still want to look elegant, but I’m also very creative and want to honour my Asian heritage by incorporating red on my wedding day for luck.

What do you guys think of silver vs burgundy red for the veil?
I can’t tell if the red veil would look too gothic or if it would compliment the red flowers nicely and add a unique touch to match me or if I should go with the safe option and pick silver.

Also I will probably do the veil in church length (but I’m quite short)

My fiancé will be wearing a black Norse cape and a grey suit with a silver shirt I believe (We’re still finalising the outfit) in case that affects anything.

Edit: Red veils are also traditionally worn in many cultures to ward off anything negative, even if it has a different vibe in the west. I know the style might be different than what a lot of people usually wear for weddings here, but I don’t mind that. I’m just looking for what fits me :)

I said yes to my dream dress, Tessera by Justin Alexander, this weekend. As soon as I saw this dress online I knew I had to try it. The lace is so magical and I love the drop waist.

This was my first and only appointment shopping for dresses, I went to Kleinfeld with my mom and Randy was there to do the whole “say yes to the dress” bit! It was so special. :)

So I finally made a decision and I couldn't be happier, dress shopping for me has been a very stressful experience I would have loved to do with my mum, however unfortunately she passed a couple of years ago. But I really wanted to share this with someone (why not the Internet 😅) I've tried dresses on irl but ended up buying online and I'm very happy.

There is an internal corset that Is not done up since I couldn't do it myself so it's a bit loose around the waist in the photos.

I wanted people's honest thoughts on train length and straps, the train is very long for me (can't see it in the photos but it's at least 1.5m long from my feet to the hem, as someone who is clumsy af I'm considering just hemming it completely. As for the straps the loose straps are actually quite restrictive I was thinking of removing the tulle bits and using the floral part of the straps for over shoulder straps, I'm just unsure if it will make the dress seem less "whimsical/flowy"

Hi, 2027 bride here! I’ve loved lurking on this community and my time has finally come to solicit guidance for myself!

I recently started on the hunt for a dress and am between two pretty different options. Wedding will be an outdoor garden ceremony followed by an indoor reception.

Dress 1 (pics 1-2, lace): the type of dress I originally was attracted to and saved on pinterest - I like the fitted silhouette and the “wow factor” from the sparkly lace (the sparkles aren’t visible here from these low res video screenshots). Hesitant on this because it’s potentially too trendy/not “timeless” (though I don’t think anything is truly timeless lol), also maybe too form-fitting/not very forgiving body-wise 😂. I do like that it’ll be lighter and easier to move around in.

Dress 2 (pics 3-5, mikado): I didn’t think I’d go for the volume of the a-line silhouette since I’m rather petite (5 ft 2), but I was pleasantly surprised by the clean lines of this skirt! I like the intricate floral beading and sweet, classic vibe, but wonder if it’s lacking in wow factor? And also might be heavier/fussier through the day.

Curious to know your thoughts on either dress! Or neither and I should keep looking? Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: I think there’s an overwhelming consensus 😅 I was already leaning towards 2 but now I feel way more confident and will be putting a deposit down! Thanks for everyone’s lovely input and support - I was never one to have a vision for my wedding and went into this search pretty blind, but now I’m feeling excited about getting married in this dress 🥰

I feel like I picked the wrong wedding dress. After going to 5 stores and trying on many dresses I felt pressure to pick a dress. I love the formal feeling of the satin from the first dress (one I choose)-Vella by Jenny Yoo, but looking back on pictures I feel like I look better in the Sienna by Jenny Yoo.

The store I ordered from does no returns so I would have to try and sell the dress if I changed dresses. My dress is not estimated to arrive until this winter should I wait and see how I feel when the dress arrives? Another note is my mom was very kind and paid for my dress, so I feel horrible not wearing the dress we choose together. My wedding is not until June of 2027 so I have some time but don’t want to be suck with a dress I don’t love. Would love to hear anyone’s thoughts and options on the two dresses or things I should consider.

I desperately need some advice with my wedding dress!

I’ve visited two different shops and had very different experiences at each one. The first one I travelled much further to get to and had an amazing experience there. The lady who helped me really took her time to pin me in to the dresses and I felt great in them, as well as having lots of natural light in the room too.

The second appointment was much closer to where I live and therefore easier for alterations, but I was in a dark grey room with no windows, and was clipped into the dress so I didn’t feel that they looked that good on me, especially when looking back at the photos, and it all felt a bit rushed/impersonal.

Now I feel a bit warped with what I want, as maybe the right dress is one of the ones from the boutique closer to me but because they were put on poorly they aren’t doing it justice? I would love to know what other brides think about what I should do going forward.

This is a follow up post from a previous a few weeks ago when I was undecided about this dress! I followed advice and went to try some others on but they all fell short for one reason or another despite me being convinced that I would prefer them. It just goes to show how different they can look online vs in person. I’ve stuck with the initial dress! Thanks for your help. I can’t wait for it to arrive!

Last week I made a vulnerable post with two dresses. I took to posting here and you all were so kind I teared up reading some of your sweet comments! I haven’t felt super confident recently and you all made me feel so beautiful.

Not sure if anyone cares but I mostly wanted to post this to say THANK YOU for your help! I went back to try on both dresses, and this one was the winner! Most of you preferred this dress to the other, and I just felt it in my gut when i put it back on. The neckline, shape of the straps, back line shape/ “V”, and buttons are everything to me.

Initially I was concerned it was too poofy and didn’t like how some of the pleating stood up in the back… I was worried it made me look bigger than I am. however today I was reassured that these pleats could be stitched down inconspicuously and that the skirt would lay better once pressed and in my correct size, alterations, etc.

I can’t wait for alterations for the perfect fit! Thank you all for your advice and kind words!!

PS I know my posture isn’t great. Struggling with a back injury and going to PT to correct… hoping to have great posture by the time my wedding rolls around lol

These are in no particular order! I’m torn between fitted vs A-line and clean vs details.

While I think the fitted styles are flattering on me overall, I get self-conscious about my hips/thighs. I have cellulite in those areas and even when I’m in the proper size, the fabrics can often show the bumps of my skin through the dress (can’t see it in these photos, it’s most noticeable from the back/sides). I know shape-wear would solve the issue, but I don’t want to be uncomfortable or in pain on the big day (in the past, it has caused stomach cramps and I’ve had to take it off during the event).

I’ve debated wearing one of the A-lines for the ceremony (outdoor in the fall) and a fitted style for the reception (at a restaurant), but I don’t want to stress about a wardrobe change between the two events. I could possibly do a fitted style for the rehearsal?

The last two photos are of the same dress, just showing it with and without a lined bodice (I would probably prefer to line it). For the color on this one, I was told that the tulle will look much brighter outside in natural light.

both are beautiful maggie sottero gowns. the sleeves in the first picture are not part of the dress, they were added to give me an idea of the cap sleeve version since they didn’t have it. i think the blush in the first dress really helps even out my pink undertones, but i’m scared it doesn’t look bridal enough. i do love the second dress as well. i don’t really have a support system so i’d really love some help deciding!! (please ignore my hair, i pulled it out of the way quickly)

Hi everyone! I recently said yes to a wedding dress (third photos ongoing) and I'm having a classic case of post-decision regret, so I need some outside perspective (never thought I could have one)
I tried on two dresses on the same day. The first had a deep V-neckline with lace 3/4 sleeves, very romantic, dramatic, "wow" factor in photos. The second has thin straps, a lace bodice with a square-ish neckline, and a huge flowing train (it also comes with detachable puff sleeves I can add for the ceremony).
In the moment, I felt amazing in the second one. The lace was so delicate. I was Comfortable, like myself, genuinely happy every time I looked in the mirror. I went with it. The other one… I couldn’t stop staring at the sleeves and was like more classic bridal. I almost chose that one but something was.. off?
But the second I left the shop... the doubts hit. When I look at photos now, the first dress feels more "objectively stunning," and I keep wondering if I picked the "safer" option instead of the more show-stopping one.
My venue is an outdoor countryside ceremony (white stone house, floral arch, candles lining the aisle at dusk) if that helps with context.
Has anyone else gone through this? Did the feeling pass once you got used to your choice? And looking at the photos I'll attach, does the dress I picked actually work, or am I fooling myself? Be honest, I can take it 😅

I ended up deciding to find a new dress because of the limited amount of time that I had. I really got lucky and saw this sample dress online for a local dress shop, tried it on the next day and it fit me. I just needed to have a couple alterations and hemming. I ended up loving my new dress, even it isn’t what I originally was looking for but I felt really beautiful in it.

The jury is still out on communicating and getting the money back from the original seamstress, but that’s the least of my concerns at the moment. I’m just thankful I was able to get a dress lol.

Hi! I recently visited NYC and went to Kleinfeld’s with the intention of only trying on dresses (especially since I had no idea what I wanted) and seeing the shop tbh. I was not expecting to literally have the first dress pulled by the stylist to be the dress. Just wanted to share because it’s so hard not to show everyone who asks a picture of my dress idk how I’m going to keep it secret from my fiancé for the next 10 months!

Hi everyone !! I said yes to this beautiful Maggie sottero dress of my dreams. Bridal store ordered a size 20 which is also the size I’m wearing in the picture. I was still clipped in the back slightly and there is gaping in the bust area. Will alterations be able to fix that with this being an internal corset dress and having details all along the bodice? Thank you!!

I bought this dress yesterday, felt good about it in the moment, but started second guessing it about 10 hours later. I do love the fabric, it’s sooo shimmery and very light and airy. It’ll be easy to move around in and great with the Spanish heat. This dress beat out what was in theory, the perfect lace dress (7-9), which is surprising because I had been leaning towards lace for much of my search. The structure of this dress is so unique. When I tried it on with the veil I felt like I was glowing, and I can envision that same shimmery-ness in the Spanish sun (evening ceremony)

Things that are making me second guess this choice is that two the design elements that were top considerations for me, a train MOMENT and a low back, are not really happening here. This dress was discontinued and they were able to discount the sample from ~$6k to $3.5k.

I did cry and I was speechless when I opened my eyes after my consultant did the whole “close your eyes, envision your venue, envision your fiancé” thing while putting on the veil. Reflecting on it, it’s hard to tell how much of that was a genuine reaction to the dress. This was also the only appointment I went to with all my friends, near my hometown. I think having them there added an additional emotional layer to it.

I would need to have it taken in, hemmed and add the bustle. And it’s just the zipper, not a corset, which will impact the “snatched-ness” of the final result.

This dress was the top contender before yesterday, the problem was that she was 2k over budget at $7k (this dress was a sample, actual MSRP is more like 15k). This dress is SO LIGHT and is closer to the silhouette that I was initially envisioning. I love the large appliqué, it feels so artsy and unique, while still being soft and feminine. I didn’t have the same emotional crying reaction, but I did have a moment of “oh this is real” happy butterflies while putting on the test heels of all things.

This dress fit me like a glove and only needed to be hemmed and to add the bustle.

It was a sample, so if I’m going to change my mind and just do it anyway, I need to make that decision fast.

Photos 7-9: Bonus, a sample La Premiere from their trunk show. This dress combined all my favorite elements from early favorites (Maggie Sottero Esmeralda, La Premiere Brooke) while fixing all the things I had issues with. Ultimately it was a little scratchy and I thought the white was too white.

I’ve already chosen this one so the damage is done! Just wanted to see what others thought, as my bridal party thought I looked good in everything because I am NOT a dress girly. 🤣

Fighting for my life trying to decide. Those in my life I’ve asked like option 1 because of the way it fits my body and the elegance of it. They loved how it looked and the bubble hem too (brothers GF, cousins). I wanted an elegant and refined look! It’s also got beautiful buttons on the back (not all the way down). Keep in mind the one I am wearing is the sample size they had at the store which is a little too small for my body but fit a bit snugly hence the wrinkles and back flowing a bit out. Pic 1-4

My mom picked the 2nd dress, and herself and a few others (my two best friends) loved the 2nd dress because of the structure and it being more fun and exciting to look at! It has an optional sleeve for one side which is what you see is Tucked in on my right side in the 5th pic. I didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did and am now struggling a ton trying to choose because of how elegant and eccentric she looks too. Pic 4 -7

I did not try #2 with a veil. And I want to keep my hair naturally curly for the wedding which is where I’m struggling a bit with #2.
