Discussion 5 gallon Nano tank suggestions

Upvotes

I am hoping to buy a nano tank soon, trying to keep it around $50.
Option 1: Chewy - **Lifegard Low Iron Ultra Clear Glass Cube Tank Fish Aquarium, 5-mm, 5-gal, 10.47 x 10.47 x 10.47-in**

Option 2: Amazon - Cirrsondy 5.18 gallon 11” x 13.78” x 7.87”

One is a cube and the other is a taller tank.

Which one would you choose for a good aquascape?

Help 20g Long Shell Dweller Tank

Is a Fluval 107 a good filter for a 20g long shell dweller tank or should I grab a 207? Also, should I be putting a wave maker in the tank as well for extra flow/surface agitation?

Help 3 gallon tank - toddler gift

Hello!

Our little one loves fish and for the holidays we wanted to get a small fish after visiting his favorite place - the aquarium!

My friend gave me their 3 gallon tank and I was wondering what is an easy 3 gallon tank fish to get that a small kid would enjoy? At first I thought a colorful beta fish but I'm seeing alot of suggestions for a larger tank so I'm open to other fish ideas.

We have a local pet store friend we also like to visit who can help with anything you tell us to get. He will help us with setup & support since we like to visit often to say hi to all the animals.

Note: the kid will NOT be caring for the fish - thats my job.

Also open to real plants if anyone can explain how to care for them and which are easy to handle...

UPDATE: We are NOT upgrading the tanks - Its not an option as we have a verrrryyy smallll space covered in toddler things & there is one spot I could put it & it will not hold anything bigger than the 3 gallon tank.

We are going to get shrimp probably as per everyone's suggestions on whats suitable :) Just may postpone this till I can do research on shrimp options at our local shop. If anyone has any other non-shrimp or snail ideas, please feel free to add - Any specific suggestions on making those work & thrive - what they like. But the tank size is FINAL!

hello everyone, I just set up a new nano tank

on the bottom I put a layer of aqua soil ( the one in the picture below ) and on top I wanted to seal it off with some gravel while pouring the water in, accidentally the soil I used in the bottom layer leaked into the water.

I am not sure whether this soil leaking into the water will cause a lot of algae. What can I do? I tried to suck out most of the particles and did a quiet significant water change but still there are a lot of pieces floating around in the water.
also, I feel I did not put a big enough layer of gravel on top. 😭 will it be a problem later on do you think?

Hello everyone,
This is my first week old proper nanotank.
So far, i have an algae starting to grow at the back of the wood, I found few bladder snails and I am guessing they came with the plants and I have washed them properly.
I am thinking about 10 - 15 neocaridina schrimps and 6 - 8 Danio margaritatus to put in there.
In the last pic, there is a test of my water so far.
I’ll be glad for any advice of what I can do better and mostly, what to do with an alage.
I know that schrimps like to eat them, but tank is in cycle period.
Thank you everyone.

I’m still a beginner and I’m about to set up my first freshwater aquarium. It’s a 6.8-gallon tank (about 26 liters).

I’d love some suggestions on how I should arrange the substrate and rocks.

I’m using a fertile substrate (I have more on the way, so I’ll have 2 kg in total) and inert substrate (basalt and river gravel).

I’d also really appreciate some advice on how to secure the huge rock on the right side so it doesn’t fall over in the aquarium.

If you have any other suggestions on what I could improve, I’d be very grateful!

Tank is 40x29x23

Help Can someone tell me what this black stuff is? This is my second bowl. I’m on week 4 of cycling and the same thing happened to the first one. It smelt like eggs the first time so I’m pretty sure it was plant rot. But no plants seem to be rotting this time and I have a filter this time as well.

Just wanted to share my very first Nanotank/Aquascape in Pandora (Avatar) style.

Filter is a Fluval AC20.

Planted it yesterday and hope the cycle in will work fine.

I want to add a group of blue dream Neocaridina and one or two Nerite snails.

What do you think? :)

Do you have any further suggestions or tips for this tank?
