Quick Question Favorite place to study on centennial campus?

I spend all day on campus but I live too far away to go back home. I like heading to the Willow Coffee House to study between classes but I need a place where I can also heat up my meal prep for lunch. I also need quick access to good coffee. Any recommendations?

Academics Need to borrow a Hp Laptop charger (blue tip charger) for August 3-4th

As the title suggests, I'm DESPERATE CHAT I NEED TO BORROW ONE OF THESE AS THIS WILL CHARGE THE LAPTOP I PLAN TO USE FOR A BIG EXAM as my tablet/laptop thingy is not compatible with it. Long story short my family flipped their shit when I asked to use the charger IT CAME WITH as they said they couldn't go without one of them as they lost the other ones they could have used so now I’m here chargerless. If anyone can let me borrow it you're a lifesaver.

Transit issue

Is it possible to still purchase a parking permit this late? I’ve been using the GoRaleigh and wolfline but after having bus drivers blow past even when waving them down or bus drivers just not letting me off at my stop even when the bus is stopped I really need another option… I always try to give extra time in case of issues but even then I’m still having so many issues with the buses that it’s not reliable.
RIP route 50 :(

Edit-does anyone know of any off campus parking spots sold by people other than state? Just checked the available permits and like I thought there’s really nothing there.

Parking/Transportation Wolf Ridge parking is pissing me off

ok dude there is never parking god forbid you come home after like 9 a clock. either they sold too many parking passes which would be incompetence, or they arent ticketing the people parking here without a pass.
why did I pay hundreds of dollars to park next to my home if I was gonna be forced to get up at the literal ass crack of dawn and move my vehicle from a commuter spot so I dont get a ticket, but this parking lot is still full? i literally drove around the whole lot and there are still no parking spots. currently just walking around dix since there is NOWHERE TO PARK

Quick Question Can we not get smart plugs to work anymore?

I have a couple of smart plugs that I registered on the nomad network and yet nothing I do allows the app to recognize their existence. I've tried everything. Is there something I'm missing or something that changed recently that stops them from connecting?

Edit: I forgot some important info. I’m in wolf ridge, and I used to have plugs back when I was in Wood and they worked great. Not sure what changed

Why is the online sections for classes so horribly put together????

Ts is really pissing me off. I'm a freshman and in high school we just had google classroom with everything in one spot and I could click to do and it'd have all my assignments for every class. So nice. I get to state and I see wolfware which is just a bunch of links to moodle for your classes which has some of your assignments and then some of my classes have their assignments also on webassign which doesn't have a feature to view all upcoming work for all classes. And then now im seeing one of my classes uses edstem only for the assignments like genuinly what the fuck is this about. From what it seems like I have to take an hour a week to go through every website to see where work MIGHT be assigned on and write it down in my agenda to have some idea of my entire workload. I must be missing something because aint no way this is the best way to go about keeping on top of ur work. pls help im upset

Social Night life, things to do, and people to meet

Post image
51 Upvotes

I’m a freshman with a relatively light course load, being that all my classes end before 3pm all days of the week, very little hw from any of them, and I already get a good amount of studying and understanding with the time I devote to them. I’m wondering what things around campus I could look into doing (besides clubs, that’s kinda obvious and I’m already looking into them) to meet new people and have some fun. I also am a bit of a night owl, not needing a lot of sleep to function the next day, so I’m perfectly fine with recommendations that are later in the night. I’ve heard of a couple things like the Legends night club being 18+, besides the 5-10ish dollar entry fee, as well as going to events in Talley and whatnot. Just curious about what else I might be missing out on and what i can do around here. So far I’ve met a handful of people just by going to Talley throughout the day and going up to people who seem pretty approachable, and that works about 40% of the time, if I can find someone who looks approachable to begin with. My main restriction for things off campus would be transportation that isn’t a bus, bc I don’t have a car, as most would assume.

Quick Question Has anyone heard back about scholarships?

I’m a transfer student and didn’t get chosen for a goodnight scholarship. The scholarship people told me to apply in PackASSIST for other scholarships, and I had submitted them back in April. The deadline said they were due by August 1st, and I haven’t heard anything from any of the six scholarships I applied to.

Will she be able to use the internet during the exmas? Please respond if anyone has taken this class and knows

Lost and Found Lost Keys on Centennial Campus

Lost keys on Centennial Campus likely somewhere in Koch Hall (EBII) or the Plant Sciences Building Friday afternoon/evening.
I already went back and searched both buildings but couldn’t find them, so I’m hoping someone picked them up.
If you found a set of keys in either building, please DM me. I can describe the keychain/keys to confirm they’re mine. Thanks 🙏

Tablet/Ipad opinions

What is an affordable and efficient tablet for taking notes? I see a lot of students using tablets or iPads and they look so much more streamlined than my laptop/notebook combo. My budget is $400. Please give me opinions 🙂
It does not have to be Apple. I mainly just need to be able to take notes and interact with graphs I paste in the notes.

Textiles program for career in technical design

I currently work in tech (9 YOE as a software engineer) but I want to quit and pursue a career in fashion, specifically to become a technical designer. I'm wondering if a textiles degree at NCSU is worth the time and financial investment or if I'm better off doing my own self learning through online / nonaccredited courses? How much of the coursework would be relevant to becoming a technical designer? I plan on reaching out to faculty of course but would love to get insights from current or past students.

Anybody Listens to Yorushika(or other J-Pop bands) Here?

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I am a new transfer third-year EE student here, and I am a super fan of Yorushika and Zutomayo, which are Japanese bands. And I have been to their concerts quite a lot. I think these two bands (or maybe J-Pop) are not quite popular among US, so I am writing this post to ask if there is any kind of J-Pop group or club, or people who love these two bands, and I want to make friends with you guys. Thanks a lot.

Quick Question Carmichael pools

Hi guys so I’m interested in doing some swimming at one of the pools in carmichael but i don’t actually know how to swim “correctly.” I just want to get some movement in without any pressure to do laps. Are there restrictions on which pools I can use or where to stay so I’m not in the way of anything? Or are the pools not meant to be used for recreational swimming like that?

Does the gym have a chest supported t bar row?

I’m pretty certain I’ve visited every room, and so far I’ve only found a t bar row without a chest support, but Im not sure if there is a room I haven’t seen yet.

Also, if anyone knows if there is a t bar row ANYWHERE on campus that would be helpful.
