WWYD? Vent/Rant Neighbour left note re: fence installation

Upvotes

Posted on here a few times so some may know me. I rent a townhouse. The whole street rents from the same rental company.

I’ve received confirmation that each townhouse pays rent and gets their own individual front lawn and back lawn. There are lot lines with the city and the lots are NOT shared yards.

My neighbor treats both my backyard and my driveway as an extension of his yard. I began installing a fence but need help as I’m on my own. So in the meantime I ran a rope to divide our yards. He’s been cutting the rope. I also began storing my canoe in backyard strategically as a divider. He comes into my yard while I’m at work and moves my canoe.

Recently, I came home to find the rope on my front steps with a note. He says my canoe and rope prevent the lawn cutters from cutting his lawn. He said it was a d$ck move and prevented the neighbour kids (including his) from roaming freely between yards.

Nothing stops the lawn cutters from accessing his yard from the other side. Moreover, I’m required to leave a 4 foot maintenance gap if I install a fence. I spoke with the lawn maintenance crew and confirmed that they can easily access his yard regardless of fence or rope.

I notified the property management company who confirmed my permission to install a fence. They even told me to put the rope back up. I’m in the process of lining up the fence install (where I have crew lined up), but am afraid of retaliation from neighbor. He is a simpleton, unemployed and druggie, who can make life difficult for me with excessive noise and stupidity.

Edit: I neglected to mention he opted to grow marijuana plants immediately along our property line, right off my back deck. The fence is to Lee that on his side and out of my children’s site

WWYD? Vent/Rant Animal Noise Deterrent Saga

Hello All,

This has been an ongoing thing for the last month or so and I'm looking for some honest advice and not downright revenge lol. So about a month or so ago I basically started noticing some high pitched sound happening randomly and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Behold, I figured out it was my neighbor's across the street who had those animal noises deterrents except this one is audible to the human ear. They originally had it pointed at the street to keep deer out of their property; however it was going off when a person or car passed by. It was driving me nuts. I managed to catch one of them (talked with her separately over a couple of days), super nice, and she was able to let her spouse know and a few days later, BAM, deterrent moved and bliss began. However, fast forward to a couple of days ago, I notice the beeping again. It seems to be that they moved it back to their flower garden but it seems they attempted to angle it up and out of the way. It doesn't go off when people pass by or shorter cars but there are a lot of people who drive trucks by me and it goes off pretty frequently. It's a lot better then it used to be but still annoying since I like to sit out in my front yard. Do you guys think I should say something again or just deal with it since it isn't super constant but still noticeable if outside for a long time? Advice appreciated, thank you :)

WWYD? Vent/Rant What should I do

So I moved in 6 months ago to my new townhome. I’ve had multiple problems with her calling the police for noise before and after the town ordinance when there was no noise. She has reported me to the HOA five times all false claims about improper exterior etc. HOA found them to be false. She will take pictures and videos of me getting in or out of my vehicles and most recently she has dumped garbage in-front of my garage ( no cameras back there) . HOA hasn’t done anything to help the situation except not fine me same with police .I have her trespassed off my property and soon installing even more cameras. What are some things I can do? I have her information and she stays at home and gardens obviously nothing better to do with her life. I need some creative ideas.

TLDR
crazy townhome neighbor parks in-front of my house , false HOA complaints, False police noise complaints, vandalism to my garage.
(Installing more cameras)

Apartment NFH I need help/advice I’m new to apartment living!

I just moved into an apartment for the first time and went with a downstairs unit. Shortly after we moved in, I started hearing all this banging and stomping upstairs. At first I just wrote it off as this is apartment living.
Fast forward a couple weeks and we’re moved in and the banging stops being random and starts feeling targeted. Anytime I make a noise or do something, they’ll stomp above me. At first I thought am I the problem so I tried being quieter, but now it feels like they follow me around the apartment and monitor anything I do. If they don’t like a noise, they stomp, and there have even been times where they seemed to react to conversations.
I remember getting into a fun topic with my roommate once and they immediately started stomping, which really made me feel like they were listening ruined my mood and this is daily.
I know apartment living comes with noise and I’m not expecting complete silence, but I feel way too seen while also feeling like I’m expected to be extremely quiet. I’m completely new to apartments, so I honestly don’t know what’s fair or what I should do.

WWYD? Vent/Rant After a long day from work, I got home to NFH trying to quarrel with me and spreading gossip about me

We live in a communal type of “single rooms” each, with a shared compound. This evening when I got home, our house dog came to me and was chewing our plants. So I poured a little bit of water on it to shoo it away, and went indoors. I had earphones in listening to music, and heard NFH outside shouting and calling me all manner of things, that her daughter said I have poured water on her but didn’t apologize to her.

Afaik she wasn’t close when I poured the water but i don't care cos this same girl swept trash on my mom and I one morning when we were stepping outside. They didn't apologize or do anything and painted us out to be the bad guys. And now they want me to apologize?

Rn the daughter is outside spreading lies and gossip about myself and my mom to others in the house. Even down when I brought a male friend around.

WWYD? Vent/Rant Neighbors constantly smoking cigs on the balcony below me, can’t stand the stench

Hi
Been living in my apartment in Poland for years, it was peaceful until the family below me moved out and these new guys moved in. Almost immediately they started smoking and throwing out their cigarette butts out the window. One day i got tired of this, knocked on their door politely asked them to stop throwing their shit out the window and to stop smoking on the balcony, mind you they live on the 3rd floor and there are benches outside a few steps from the apartment block. They said we don’t know who’s doing that sorry, both of them were clearly embarrassed but i decided to keep my mouth shut and i caught them in the act. I told the woman below me to go and pick that up and that they are the only ones smoking in the whole apartment, she said fine and picked most of them up. The problem is they keep smoking and i despise the smell. Every time I open my balcony in the morning to get some fresh air im greeted by the stench of cigarettes, and no they dont smoke once a day, its at least 4. I have to keep my laundry indoors because it soaks up the smell. Literally no idea what to do, i own my house so no land lord, talked to the management and he said hes gonna do something about it which he didn’t. Any advice? Was thinking about reporting it to the authorities as it could be a fire hazard but don’t want to take drastic measures for now. Maybe some posters will scare them? Anyone else had amazing neighbors like these?

Apartment NFH

Apartment NFH Neighbor leave front door open 24/7

So I live in an apartment that has 3 other apartments across from us (like 2 metres away). There is this one neighbor who recently moved in and leaves their front door open 24/7 I shit you not.

It gets worse, they have a baby who I assume is around 2-3 years old who has yelling or crying periods that last 2-3 hours in the morning of 8m to around 11am, then I assume they put the kid to sleep. It then happens again around 6-8pm in the afternoon and it is just fucking exhausting to hear everyday.

Not to mention we can also hear them moving shit like pots and pans and their conversations.

Any advice would be appreciated. This has been going on for about 1 and a half weeks.

Pretty obvious, Should I tell them to close their fucking door? Looking for some advice

Edit: I forgot to add, at night time they are quiet but it's absolutely weird they still leave their door open wtff lol

Homeowner NFH They stole the garbage can.

Long time reader and honestly never thought I'd have anything to add that's happened recently, but obviously that changed.

My boyfriend just purchased a brand new home in a brand new build site. Very few people living in the "community" yet. Our neighbors are an elderly couple. They have not had a garbage can since we have lived there. We purchased a 100$ one upon moving in.

All the sudden on trash day ours does a magical thing and ends up next to their house. My boyfriend goes up and knocks and talks with them a few minutes then brings up that our garbage can somehow ended up with them.

That lady looked him in the eye and said the city came and personally brought it to her. Like ok lady, if the city was gonna give them out, we wouldn't have purchased one and she wouldn't have been without one for the past few months. And she ended up manipulating my boyfriend into them keeping it and he had to buy a whole nother one.

I told him he fucked up by not nipping that shit in the bud immediately, but I feel like he will learn soon enough. I feel like this is only the beginning.

Edit: y'all he isn't a pushover that's why it's bewildering all around. He didn't want her to twist things around saying he was over there threatening an elderly couple. And I will be painting the fuck outta the new trash can TODAY

WWYD? Vent/Rant Downstairs neighbors (who are owners, while we rent) are weaponizing noise complaints, police calls, and harassment over normal living. Need advice.

Hey everyone. Never thought I’d be posting here, but I’ve hit my breaking point and could really use some outside perspective or advice on how to handle this.

My wife and I rent our apartment, while our downstairs neighbors—a family of four consisting of a husband, wife, and two daughters—actually own their unit. Ever since we moved in, they have made our lives miserable. They constantly accuse us of excessive noise, but the reality is we are just existing and moving around our own home.

To start with, I deal with a physical disability that requires me to use a cane. For context on their absurd noise claims, my cane is fitted with a large, soft rubber foot to keep things quiet. Still, my daily routine involves necessary morning stretching, nothing that would cause noise. Whenever I move around, the husband immediately starts banging on his ceiling/our floor, yelling, or filing complaints. Sometimes they even yell at me directly through the patio screens.

They’ve even accused me of using power tools at weird hours. The reality? I have a wife and teenage daughters who all use hair dryers and assorted styling tools in the mornings. Honestly, I think it really comes down to the simple fact that they just don't like us and are looking for anything to complain about.

Things have escalated to a ridiculous level. They have called the police on us even when we were asleep, and on the absolute peak of absurdity: the last time they called the cops, we were literally trying to walk out the door to catch a flight. The whole family was standing outside with the police, screaming at us the entire time while the officers were right there.

During that lovely airport send-off, they were hurling false accusations at the top of their lungs, shouting things like:

  • "He doesn't even work!" (Meanwhile, I work 50+ hours a week between my office and working from home.)
  • "There is noise all day!" (It was the summer and our teenage daughters were home, but they are typical modern teens just vegging out in their beds or at the mall—they aren't making tons of noise.)
  • "He smokes weed all day!" (I have a legal medical license for it, and there are no rules against it here legally or otherwise. The Cop actually rolled his eyes at this one.)

Despite the responding officers having to explain the obvious to them multiple times—that their ceiling is our floor, we are allowed to walk around, and normal living sounds happen—these neighbors love to throw around legal-sounding terms. They claim we are violating "their right to quiet enjoyment" and genuinely seem to believe that any noise lasting for more than 15 minutes is a legal offense. We don't play loud music or dance around in clogs; they are simply weaponizing the police and property management as a form of harassment.

On top of the noise obsession, they've turned parking into a battleground. We do not have assigned parking here at all, but on the exact day we moved in, the husband made it a point to corner us and tell us that the front spots "belong" to him because he's an owner. Naturally, whenever I park in one of those open front spots, it pisses him off. To make matters worse, they regularly park in guest spots themselves, which is rich considering that a year ago, when we parked in a guest spot one time, our car was towed immediately.

It’s gotten to the point where they've installed a security camera specifically angled to watch our patio, and every footstep in our own apartment feels like walking on eggshells. Because they are owners and we are renters, they seem to act like they run the building. Meanwhile, the leasing office says their hands are tied because he's an owner, claiming they can't even ask him to stop harassing us. To make it more frustrating, management completely agrees that the whole situation is ridiculous and that these neighbors are crazy, but they still refuse to step in.

Beyond the frustration, I have well-documented PTSD, and this constant, targeted harassment has acutely affected it. We’ve tried dealing with management; I’ve submitted a formal request for reasonable accommodation under the Fair Housing Act just to do my morning stretching in peace, and we've had to involve the police over the constant verbal abuse and surveillance.

Has anyone dealt with owner-occupants who weaponize the police and management like this against renters, especially when management claims their hands are tied? What did you do to protect yourselves or force action? Any advice is appreciated.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that our apartment was empty for about 2 months before we moved in. The previous tenant was an elderly woman

Vent/Rant Neighbours act as if going into our own garden is somehow a slight against them

So we live in a terraced house with neighbours either side and both sides act like we ruined their days when we go into the garden. One goes in as soon as we step out the back door and then either taps the fence or walls in annoyance , he also stands in the gardens and watches people at night, so yeah odd but whatever. The other side has a dog, as do we, but they let it in the garden and it barks a fair bit in the house and garden and they aren't quick to quiet it down sometimes. Annoyingly though when we go in the garden the dog starts immediately barking and running up the garden, but they appear to react in a way in which us going in the garden is the problem and the fact they don't try to stop it acting this isn't the problem. They have put a six foot fence up and physically move up and down the garden to wherever we are not in the garden, even if we are only putting the washing out or watering the plants. They also stand in the windows and watch us in the garden as if they should be entitled enough to always be in the garden without us ruining it for them. Tbh I always try to be considerate with everything but it does make it a bit crap that we seemingly are ruining it all for them just by existing. I'm someone who always feels guilty for inconveniencing people, so I will feel guilty but tbh I'm fed up with people just so entitled. It's a terraced garden, how do people live in a terraced house and still expect people to not go out in their gardens. We don't play music or make any noise in the garden when we are out there. Should I just ignore them and just go completely about my business as if they aren't there?

A bit of a rant. Just annoying.

Homeowner NFH Trash Bin Slamming

The neighbors next door are a retired couple and they are good people. Aggressively friendly for my husband and I who are introverts, but nice people.

They like to take their trash out a lot of days between 7:30-9AM in the morning, regardless if it’s the weekend. Their trash bins are located next to their house in the 15ft space between our house and theirs. The city ordinance any day is no disturbing noises before 7AM, so they technically are not breaking any violations, but their trash bins are pretty much right outside our bedroom window, so the noise comes through easily. We are not morning people so I get jolted awake if I’m trying to sleep in on the weekend. But, the noise is also short - just a few loud thuds.

Looking for reasonable opinions on this situation. I suffer from anxiety so I always avoid any confrontation or boundary setting - but also it is hard for me to know what’s worth asking and not. Not sure if I should ask them to try to be quieter about it, or if they aren’t doing anything wrong.

WWYD? Vent/Rant Concerned by neighbor's response to bring barking dog in

My husband and I moved to a suburban ranch neighborhood in March. We mostly keep to ourselves and go about our lives, but always wave to neighbors and have good relationships with a few.

One neighbor to our rear leaves her dogs out when they leave. For few months I would close windows, turn on music, or wear noise canceling headphones. Then it started happening overnight and disrupted our sleep. I finally decided to go try to talk to her - she wasn't home at the time, so I left a cordial note.

A few months later (yesterday), I was in a series of back to back meetings (I work from home) and Nellie the dog goes off again. I was busy and it had been an hour of continuous barking, so sent a brief text, thinking we were on good terms. To me her replies seems disproportionate.

What would you do? She seems not okay.

Text thread has her response after my note, then most recent interaction

I have neighbors who talk and shout in my yard from morning until midnight(They get together to talk, but they don't talk inside their own house), several times a week, making it unbearable. Can this be reported, or does it only apply to loud music?

Vent/Rant Update noisy neighbor from last night ---

I wrote her a note this morning.

She was up from midnight to 6am making the same noises: someone running and dropping items. Very heavy items!!!

Someone suggested that she might be exercising which may be true but why in the world would you do that at night time. But wait there's more..

So I head to the 3rd floor and i knock on her door and the note is in between the door - I'm heading downstairs and she opened the door quickly!

That to me was confirmation that I wasn't going crazy because she is wide the fuck awake! I heard her pick up the note and she didnt close the door right away.

Atp my sleep and sanity is more important than her pov of the note. I wish this thread had a picture option so I could upload the note.

Anyways, I was able to get 1 hour of sleep & i have a pounding migraine! ....yay...

-deep sigh- with a passion i HAAATTTTEEEEEEEEE upstairs neighbors. Entitled pieces of selfish shits!

I live next to freak Lori and Tobin who trespass have Neverending relatives 26 grandkids running their house like a motel. Crazy lady asked for my network internet password from my mom who doesn't live with me just visiting while I was at work. Her creepy husband did not ring the doorbell and climbed my deck without permission to get his dog and saw me undressing in my basement on the way up. Called the police but they still continue to trespass to this day. She has 2 decks and a season porch but sits in a poolside patio table in her driveway facing not toward the street but staring at my bedroom amd bathroom windows. I had to put frosted glass in all my windows. Too many things to write but their son also drove up to my yard on the opposite side of the street slowly like a drive by shooting and just eyed me up in my yard. Total psychopaths.

Apartment NFH Upstairs neighbors’ noise is now causing actual damage to my apartment — what would you do?

Upstairs neighbors’ noise is now causing actual damage to my apartment — what would you do?
I’ve been dealing with excessive noise from my upstairs neighbors basically every day — kids running, jumping, stomping and banging. Management is well aware of the situation and previously mentioned that one of the children is autistic, so I’ve tried to be understanding and tolerate a lot more than I normally would.
Management has even told me that I’m well within my rights to make reasonable noise in my own apartment and that I don’t have to live silently just because they complain.
Tonight I was watching TV in my living room with my subwoofer on. I’m assuming they could hear the bass and decided to retaliate by banging/stomping extremely hard on the floor above my bedroom.
But there is absolutely no excuse for what happened next.
They hit the floor so hard that the light fixture on my bedroom ceiling fan came down and my ceiling is now visibly cracked. My bed is directly underneath it. Someone could have been seriously injured, and now I’m concerned about the fan or ceiling itself coming down.
The irony is that I listen to their kids run, jump and bang above me throughout the day, yet apparently hearing some bass from my apartment justified hitting the floor hard enough to cause actual physical damage to my unit. Some people are incredibly entitled.
I have pictures and videos of the damage and have reported everything to management. At this point, I genuinely do not feel safe living in this apartment anymore.
What would you do in this situation? Demand a transfer? Ask to terminate the lease? Request a formal safety inspection? I feel like once someone’s actions are physically damaging another apartment, this has gone way beyond a normal neighbor/noise dispute.

Updates:
Management said I should call police, file a report and share with them the incident number..

Crazy crazy, for people that almost used their feet to fall into my apartment on a daily basis…

Other Is this harassment?

A teen in our neighborhood is verbally taunting a family for sometime now. When the husband and wife walk around with their kids, the teen yells a non-profanity phrase at them and when the wife walks alone, he makes “meowing” sounds as she passes by. The family did not initiate any contact with this teen to prompt this behavior and do not react or respond to this teen as it happens.

Two years ago, this teen was warned by local police two years ago when this behavior didn’t stop even after complaining to his parents. Recently, this behavior has resumed as before.

A formal complaint was filed with the HOA by this family, prompting board members to talk to his parents about this. However, the parents disagree that this is harassment and claim it to be “childish behavior” or “bad manners”; said teen just graduated from high school. The mother of the teen claims he’s a very nice boy and a “good Christian”.

What is your take on this? Is it verbal harassment or bad manners?

WWYD? Vent/Rant Nosey Neighbor with Security Camera Pointed at My Door

Does anyone have advice for an extremely nosy new neighbor? Their new Xfinity security camera points directly at my apartment door, and their behavior makes coming and going super awkward.

I generally wouldn’t mind a camera, except it’s pointed at my door. I’ve seen those viral videos of ppl sharing doorbell videos of their neighbors coming & going. Commenting on their outfits, who they have coming over, etc. it’s weird what ppl do. Unfortunately it’s legal in my state.

I know they track my routine because one of them always takes a smoke break the exact moment I leave. I have tested it. When they try to chat, I just keep walking because I am introverted and want to be left alone.

Sometimes I use my patio door for short trips just to avoid their camera. But can’t do this every time because it can’t lock from the outside. Even then, they strain to look through their window or peek through the blinds whenever I park my car. When I catch them and look back, they snap the blinds shut. They are senior citizens acting like kids, and it is exhausting.

To top it off, other random neighbors have casually told me things like, "I watch you walk past every day" or commented on my package deliveries. I just work and mind my business, but it feels like living under a microscope.

Have any of you dealt with neighbors watching you this intensely, and how do you handle it without losing your mind? I can handle ignoring them. But I don’t like being on their camera because I know they’re watching me specifically.

Homeowner NFH UPDATE 8/31/26: Four police cars showed up, but nothing changed

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS TWO POSTS:

Four police cars showed up outside my neighbor’s house yesterday around 1 p.m. I wasn’t home this weekend, but I watched what happened through my Ring camera.

The officers were there for about an hour. His wife spoke with them outside, but he never came out of the house.

The strange part is that his music continued blaring during the entire police visit. After the officers left, it continued for another eight hours.

I talked with the officer this morning about what happened and she said “there’s only so much we can do”. So you are allowed to blare music and hide in your house with cops outside now??

Today, while my wife was walking out of my house, he started shouting again:
“I’m still here! God is good! I’m still here! God is good!”
She ignored him and kept walking.

After speaking with another neighbor who has lived here for 20 years, I now know that this behavior has been going on for years. Apparently, nearly everyone in the neighborhood has had some type of issue with him, and the police have been called to his house dozens of times.

At least that confirms this was never really about my wife and me. We just seem to be his newest targets.

For now, I’m going to continue avoiding confrontation, saving the Ring footage and keeping a written log of every incident.
It’s incredibly frustrating that someone can repeatedly harass neighbors, blast music for hours and continue doing it while four police officers are outside his house—with seemingly no consequences.
We bought this house only three months ago. I hate that someone else’s behavior is already affecting how comfortable my wife and I feel in our own home

Other The age old question, talk to your neighbor directly about a violation or let the authorities do it?

I am of the mind that it does no good to talk to your neighbor directly. Contact some authority, police or landlord or ?, and let them talk to your neighbor. I was in this situation recently. While I was on the phone with the city, they told me that having them deal with it is what's recommended. I've been told this by the city before. That's why they keep your name out of it.

I understand how it seems reasonable to talk to the NFH first before resorting to the authorities. I have to admit I've done this against my better judgement. It has never worked out. It just made it personal.

WWYD? Vent/Rant My neighbors have made taking me to court a recurring hobby

My neighbors have basically turned taking me to court into a recurring hobby, and I could really use some advice on how to handle this without constantly feeling terrified in my own home.

Over the years, they’ve accused me of intentionally causing damage to their condo, doing things I absolutely did not do, and generally acting like I’m some kind of villain living one floor above them. One of their recurring accusations has been that I deliberately pour excessive amounts of water on my floors so it will leak into their condo and damage it. They’ve been saying versions of this for years, including claiming that I mop multiple times a day “on purpose” to hurt them. That accusation is completely false.

What makes the current situation even more frustrating is that, despite hearing these accusations over the years, I was never formally notified that there was a confirmed problem coming from my apartment, never given a professional report identifying the source, and never asked to participate in a formal inspection so the actual cause could be determined. I did notify the condo administration more than once and said I was willing to cooperate with an investigation and fix anything that was professionally determined to be my responsibility.

At one point, one of these neighbors also admitted to kicking my car because he was angry. We eventually obtained a protection order against him for two years. Things were quiet for a while. Now they’re back.

They’ve filed new complaints claiming that our A/C units are causing mold and humidity in their condo, that we’ve acted in bad faith, and that they “fear for their lives.”

Meanwhile, I’m the one living in a constant state of, “What are they going to accuse me of next?“ I have to go to court tomorrow and it TERRIFIES me.

I’m trying to convince my nervous system that this is just a boring adult responsibility and not the season finale of a psychological thriller. I have documents. I have emails. I have a timeline. I know my facts. I’m still scared as hell.

For those of you who have dealt with neighbors who repeatedly make accusations or drag you into court, how did you handle it? Is there anything specific I should be documenting or asking the court about? I’m planning to stick to the facts and answer only what I’m asked, but I’d really appreciate any practical advice for protecting myself and staying calm through this process.

At this point, I don’t want anymore drama or controversy. I just want the incredibly luxurious experience of existing inside my own home without wondering what the neighbors downstairs are going to accuse me of next.

Edit: It’s a condo. I’m the owner.

UPDATE: We just got out of court. The judge dismissed everything.

My neighbors weren’t able to prove any of their claims, and during the hearing they kept making increasingly bizarre accusations. Among other things, they claimed that we intentionally pour water on the floor every day, mix and dump some kind of black substance, put hot towels on the floor when we turn on the A/C, and called us “charlatans” and “satanic.” They also kept speaking out of turn and being disrespectful during the hearing.

In the end, the judge dismissed the complaints and asked the condo administration to step in and coordinate a professional evaluation to determine what is actually causing the humidity issue. Honestly, that’s exactly what I wanted from the beginning: a neutral, technical assessment instead of more accusations. We’ve also already scheduled a consultation with an attorney. At this point, we want to understand what options we have to address the bigger pattern and hopefully find a way to stop being repeatedly dragged into court over accusations that go nowhere.

I’m incredibly relieved. Thank you to everyone who commented, gave advice, or helped calm me down before the hearing. I was absolutely terrified going in.

WWYD? Vent/Rant Heard my neighbor's "partner" screaming my name while arguing with him

Strap in, cause this context is wild: I(F39) started having issues with my neighbor's(D-M45) "partner" (KKK, cause she's a racist-F50s)(he told us they're basically just housemates, though still in an abusive "relationship"; I refuse to call her my neighbor because of her racism) in May, after I helped D escape KKKs son's attempt to stab D during a severe schizophrenic episode.

We had D shelter in our house for two hours while we waited for the cops to show up, and he told us all about this awful situation he's in: KKK, who is white, constantly calls D, who is Black, the N word, on top of a bunch of other abuse... Which we can hear because it usually happens on their porch. They live next door to the house directly across from us. So we hear it all the time. It makes us avoid hanging out on our own porch.

Anyway, I used to keep it really friendly with KKK, I had even offered to grow some veggie transplants for her and gift her some indoor plants before the incident in May. Which ended with us watching KKK and her son get arrested; I swear her son was about to get shot for kicking a cop in the stomach, but the cop took his hand off his gun and went for his spray instead. It was one of the scariest things I've witnessed.

Mother & son were put away for a few days, during which D told us he was finally done after SIX YEARS of these sorts of incidents. He thanked us for helping him and listening to him, and I felt really hopeful that she would be gone from our neighborhood.

Nope. D took her back, and the day after she came back from jail she came over to our house to ask my fiance(M46) for a favor. We were out working in the yard, and my fiance, who is way too nice sometimes, ran inside to grab the thing she asked for, leaving me in our yard, with KKK blocking my way back into my house. Unfortunately, I have CPTSD that gets triggered when I feel cornered, which in that moment I did, so I made a face, because I couldn't stand this racist being in my yard, acting like I hadn't just been thrust into her violent drama days before.

She asked me what my problem was, and I crashed out. Read her to filth, screamed her off my property while calling her a racist bitch. Ngl, it felt GOOD (I myself am Chicana)

Since then, we've ignored each other, which is my preference.

Also since then, I'll still say hi to D when he's outside alone, which is rare. I feel really bad for him, but people in abusive relationships are hard to help, and we can't help him if he won't accept it.

Things blew up again this past Saturday, when I was heading out to a show. D was alone on his porch, so I waved, he waved back, asked how I was doing, I said alright, I'm going to a show, we told each other to have a good one. KKK comes out of the house screeching at D about saying hi to me. I get in my car and drive away, cause I know better than to make those sorts of things worse by intervening.

I go to the show, have a great time with one of my bros. Check my phone when I get back to my car, have a text from my fiance letting me know the neighbors are fighting again. I call him when I'm a block away, asking him to come out just in case KKK decides to engage me in her bullshit. Luckily, no one is out when I get there. I go upstairs to my room(we each have a room for ourselves but share a bedroom) to decompress from the show and my fiance joins me.

We're chilling when we hear "why don't you go talk to (my name), you dumbass N-word!" followed by a lot of indecipherable yelling. After a few minutes, we get ready for bed and go to our bedroom, which is in the back of the house, so we can't hear more.

I slept badly, anxious that we would once again be awoken by either D or KKK banging on our door. Around 3 AM, my fiances phone went off. He glanced at it, and I was able to see it was texts from KKK, telling him to tell me to stop trying to talk to "her man" and that she's tired of my game(??)

We talked about it and are choosing to keep the peace. My fiance blocked her, and I am abiding by her demand, but only because I have too much going on to engage with an abusive narc, plus I don't want D getting yelled at about me anymore. I do hate that we're giving in to this bully, but it is what it is.

Bigger problem is now I'm anxious about stepping outside of my house. Idk what I'm going to do if she engages me. Part of me is capable of ignoring people like her, but I know I won't stand for bullying & abuse for long if she starts yelling at me. Wish me luck.

Tl;dr: my neighbor's racist abusive "partner" texted my fiance at 3 AM telling him to tell me to stop trying to talk to "her man"; I don't know what I'm going to do if she decides to engage me next time she sees me.
