I made a previous post a while ago in regards of being unsure if keeping my preorder for the console was the wisest decision considering its price and wanting to get some evercade goodness.

I already have the preorder money sitting comfortably so its ready to be paid for upon release and the reason I was unsure was due to it being the home console for 'fighting' games.

In honesty I do like fighting games, I dabbled in some anime style ones and casual street fighter 6 and Tekken 8...even some 'really' obscure ones like Million Knights Vermillion.

But my dummy self had 'no' idea that fighting games like king of fighters and Garou were on this system, I didnt properly look at the list of games coming out in this wave.

I cant believe how fluent and gorgeous the animations are for these arcade fighters, its so vibrant and just looks very kick ass.

I honestly think Neo Geo is going to be one of my top favourite consoles and not just a simple 'play for a while then put on shelf' I think im going to enjoy this for a very long time and I am glad SNK is bringing this console back to the market and giving people a chance to try it out without spending a fortune all over Ebay

I know some cartridges are going to be impossible to buy physically as they are in the thousands on Ebay but I will hope that a multicart will work on the console to save me not missing out.

I also thank everyone who gave me their honest opinions on my previous post, you all made me more excited to get this console, only 2 more months till its out :D.

Though my first game I will be trying is of course Metal Slug :D

…I guess Unico is the parent company of SNK/ NeoGeo now…? I mean, I get it but why not just use the NeoGeo name on all of their products? Especially if it’s a product designed to run nothing but NeoGeo games, as this one is, just like the mini, and the collab with the SuperPocket company and I’m sure there are more companies they’ve licensed out to that make these cheap Chinese POS handhelds (all of em, ever since “manufactured in Japan” stopped appearing on products, overall quality has gone to shit… As an example, does anyone remember the NeoGeo X which came out back in 2012? There were lawsuits from vendors that stocked the consoles in Japan fighting against the cheap, sub-par Chinese manufacturing even back then, hopefully it hasn’t gotten worse, bc that was pretty bad. Anyway, rant over. More about the console:

It has a decent selection of games, but it doesn’t have the ability to expand like the Super-Pocket NeoGeo Edition (the biggest drawback about it being that it only has 14 games built in and you need to buy carts that contain only a few games each in order to get more)… and this guy has 40 in it but no way to expand that I can tell. Not to mention, the screen on this Unico NeoGeo unit is larger and feels more comfortable in the hands than the small SuperPocket.

BUT the SuperPocket has the name NeoGeo on it, which is what I want. I’ve got one lying around from when I launched, I need to find it… found my Neo Geo Mini (the mini arcade one) the other day in the box; found the SuperPocket box, but NO console! Lol oh well, even if I can’t find it, it’s not like I don’t already have 90 other different ways to get my NeoGeo fix anyway!

Bought this many years ago from an auction site and wanted to know who made them. Looks to be professionally done. The cart weighs a lot so I do not think it was cheaply made like current carts. What was the process to convert these multicarts to AES?

The regular $249.99 Black AES+ console comes with a plain jane wired joystick but I want the white one but that comes with the wireless joystick. I know you get a dongle and cable and can use it wired but what happens when the battery dies?

Can I pop open a battery compartment like you do with a Game Boy and simply just stick some new batteries in it or do I need to get instructions from some unaffiliated third party site like iFixIt, and need to unscrew it open, pry it open with some specialty plastic tools nobody owns or guitar picks being very careful not to break the plastic housing then need to very carefully detach the circuit board with more specialty tools while trying your darnedest not to break THAT, and then find a soldering iron or go pay money to buy one yourself and perform surgery on it while following some half baked instructions you got off some rando's YouTube videos?

And will this use a standardized rechargeable battery I can pick up at Walmart, a hardware store, or on Amazon? Or will it instead be some special proprietary thing that will be impossible to find in 10-20 years and you'll need to spend a ridiculous arm & a leg for on some third party Chinesium battery of some sort of questionable quality that only like two random video game websites on the entire website happen to sell?

This is precisely why I hate wireless junk and modern electronics. I'm sure you all are just like me and own plenty of 1980s and 1970s video game consoles that still work flawlessly to this day. If they would have been made wirelessly with user-unreplacable batteries in them (let's just pretend the technology existed back then) all of that stuff would have ended up in a landfill decades ago and wouldn't have survived 30-50 years.

Are we expecting the AES+ to be a limited run/hard to get machine or will it be available long-term? Analogue has me getting fomo about all these things now but maybe the AES+ is going to be readily available for months after the initial release?

For those of you who have put a good amount of time into Pulstar, how would you compare it difficulty wise to other horizontal shooters of the era? I'm getting the Ultimate bundle and very much looking forward to attempting to master Pulstar going for beating it with the stock 4 credits and maybe eventually a 1cc. For context, I've 1cc'd many similar games including a near NDR on Eliminate Down and TF4 on the Genesis and I've gotten through 4 levels on Blazing Star without too much time dedicated. From watching gameplay, Pulstar doesn't look too difficult as your ship and the hazards are both moving slowly. I've never given much playtime to any R-Type so maybe I'm missing something.

I just want a few honest opinions, I never grew up with the NEO GEO, it was a luxury console after all and I was all about the Mega Drive/SNES/Playstation at the time, so of course it was a console I was very interested in getting when I grew up and could afford it on my own.

I have preordered the anniversary edition along with 3 games being 'Shock Troopers' 'Magician Lord' and 'Twinkle Star Sprites'.

Part of me is very excited to finally own this system but at the same time, the games are of course expensive as is the console, Anniversary costing more obviously due to having the accessories included such as the memory card.

I have been very pulled in to EVERCADE and alot of those games that they advertise, I personally grew up with and the pricing is much more reasonable.

I planned on getting the Evercade VS-R Console in the future anyway but I was just thinking if spending £470+ on the NEO GEO console and the 3 games is a wise choice as i am aware this console has 'alot' of fighting games which because I am a loner, I would not have any friends to play these 2 player...so the thought of 'wasting my money' on this system is constantly looming in the back of my head.
