From a shield... to a wheel.

How different root words from two languages ended up meaning a lot of things; not to mention, but the root \*krakhug also gave the word for "plate, flat bowl" in Qē (*kạkū* /ka˧ku˩/).

Two different language families are sharing the North-Eastern lands of Vaosko and the Slekkan archiepelago (also natively called Phuẓúṣų́ in Ṇaka): the Uᵹhūde languages, whose ancestor language is Qheon, an uvular-heavy language, and the Kųngikk languages, descendants of Ikungikkak, a language whose clusters might just make any linguist trying to reconstruct them completely crazy.

The script used here is called Qhwasi, ᵹynou or ḍỹou. It is mainly an Uᵹhūde based script, but as time went, it spread eastward, even though it was stopped by the Quantaans (unseen on this map, in the southern grey area). It's a font. (I use Illustrator and Fontforge, if you are wondering). It is a descendant of the Aqhrobvian script, even though i haven't mapped the links correctly between the glyphs yet. It is also partially influenced by Sker, a script more known to the Skerzdid peoples.

I created a crappy Fontstruct font just over ten years ago and have been dealing with it since. Yesterday I finally learned how to use Fontforge and here are the results!

Ever since I saw a post from u/iamdiego21 showing the iberian runes from the 5th to 3rd century bc (I think), I've been investigating about how they work and wondered how they would've evolved had they not been replaced by the latin alphabet. This is the result of that investigation. I used the non-dual northeastern iberian script because of Tarraco being the base of operations for the Roman conquest of Hispania, and if they were willing to have a new script for the province, it would be the one they had the most contact with.

The text I use to expose the script starts with a catalan pangram, and then adds another sentence to show the rest of the syllabary:
"Despús-ahir el pingüí bèl·lic atenyé aïrat l'emú esquifit i menjà zelós xoriç, òvid i kiwi. En una cita a un poble cacerenc amb un pamplonés iruñés, glados agafà una copa a tutiplén"

In case someone is curious about the meaning of the text, it's: The day before yesterday an aggressive penguin got angrily to the thin emu and ate jealously chorizo, egg-based and kiwi. At a date in a village in Caceres with an iruñés man from Pamplona (Pamplona is Iruña in basque), glados rose a glass plentifully.

I want to make a syllabary with ~120 unique characters for my upcoming conlang, and i'm not really feeling the artist in me. I don't know how i want my symbols to look or feel. Could you maybe share how you made your syllabaries, or atleast give tips on how to make one look unique? Thank you in advance

Here is the second block-sheet of Sigaen, I’m going to do a third one too when the time comes.
The reason I’m doing this is because it’s kind of a visual exercise for my brain and it helps me to wrap my head around how each glyph should look.

I messed up a few things in the last one; the one that most bothers me is my mistake in giving “eye” a “person thing” radical when it’s meant to be a root word (a word that doesn’t need any modifiers to convey it’s meaning)

That being said this is my first logography and I still have much more to learn.
Come to think of it; I may have thrown myself in the deep end with this one XD

I wanted to share a project I've been designing called Shodasha. It is an original visual notation system for base-16 (hexadecimal) values.

Instead of using traditional alphanumeric characters (0-9, A-F), each symbol is procedurally generated from its underlying 4-bit binary nibble.

📐 How it Works (The Geometric Grid)

Every character is constructed inside a square box using an intersecting central axis (+). The square is split into four distinct quadrants:

• Quadrant 1: Top-Left
• Quadrant 2: Top-Right
• Quadrant 3: Bottom-Left
• Quadrant 4: Bottom-Right

🖋️ How to Draw the Glyphs

The system follows one strict, binary rule:

1. If a bit state is 0, that quadrant renders as a diagonal path line pointing to the center.
2. If a bit state is 1, that quadrant converts into its bounding axial (horizontal or vertical) lines.

🔢 Spotting the Matrix Logic (Examples)

• 0000 (Value 0): All quadrants are 0. The four diagonal paths merge to create a clean, uniform diagonal cross (X).
• 0011 (Value 3): The bottom half holds a state of 1. Their lines merge to form a flat, solid horizontal baseline.
• 1111 (Value 15): All four quadrants hold a state of 1. All diagonal lines are completely replaced by their axial boundaries, joining seamlessly to form a perfect central plus-sign (+).

🗣️ The Spoken Naming System

To make reading values aloud easier without using Latin letters, I also drafted an auxiliary phonetic naming system using single-syllable roots:

• 0000 = Sif
• 0001 = Uni
• 0010 = Ome
• 0011 = Tri
• 1111 = Zen

The goal is to explore whether a dedicated geometric alphabet can make byte data more visually uniform for typography, code presentation, and human readability.

So I made a prototype font for my conlang! Since it's just a prototype, the runes are hand drawn for now, but I plan to eventually make proper vectors with Adobe Illustrator or maybe Inkscape.

If it wasn't obvious, major inspiration from Elder Futhark runes, and the conlang itself draws major inspiration from Germanic languages.

I currently don't have enough grammar and vocabulary developed in my conlang to write something substantial. So I like to write Old Norse poems in my conlang's script and pretend I have a fully fledged and fleshed out conlang.

EDIT: I've now made a proper prototyped font with Adobe Illustrator. The ligatures don't look like anything I want, but this'll do for now. Here's a Gothic translation of The Lord's Prayer, which I'm transcribing in my conlang font based on a Latin transliteration of said Gothic translation.

I wrote "I love you" in the two scripts used to write my conlang, Salíñaan!

Both scripts are written top to bottom, right to left, and have ancient shared origins.

On the left, is what I've been calling the Séñosa/Salíñaan Abu-Syllabary. It functions somewhere between an abugida and a syllabary. Each character represents a consonant followed by a vowel, but there are only glyphs for half of the syllables. To write syllables that don't have dedicated glyphs, a vowel diacritic (or vowel deletion marker) is added to the left. Tone diacritics can be added to the right of the syllables. The script was adapted into Salíñaan, but was designed for a language called Séñosa. Certain syllable glyphs have been modified to write sounds that don't exist in Séñosa, and a new diacritic was invented to write /y/.

The second script is a logography that is native to Salíñaan. In the past several hundred years, usage of the script has diminished as the abu-syllabary has become more prominent. The script is mostly used for religious texts or decorative purposes, often embroidered into cloth. However, since the end of the Peninsular Wars and the formation of a centralized Salénon Church, there has been an effort to revive the script in everyday life.

I'm creating a world of ghosts full of ghosts of different hierarchy seniors, new ones, powerful, powerless, psychic powers, head of institutions and gangs.

This is supposed to be the ancient script of the ghost witches and wizards of the ghost-underworld who use it for spells. It was used as record keeping in the past as well and most of the books of the occult are in this writing system.

So basically it has a bijective subbase of 4 and for each four a line is added and for each power of four the little tilted L rotates counterclockwise

This is the first time I ever created a script which can be written digitally (without just drawing with my mouse I mean). I used canva affinity and smashed up letter pieces and found loads of random letters from lesser-used writing systems, it was a very fun process!

This is my conlang’s (Hasha’ran) neography. I am trying to make sure I’m staying consistent, any tips for making characters or keeping track?

Glyphs from the Valyrian and Constant Scripts. Other glyphs are original.

Hi everybody!
These are photos of the same alphabet but with different style (Čemki abyced for my conlang Is-Prišk)

The first one is the 5th version of it, with a lot of circles and long lettertails, almost giving the impression that every letter looks the same as the others.
In the second photo we have a sample of the 6th version, that, on the contrary, shows a better distinction of the letters, giving the the text a cleaner appearance.
Except the style, another big change is the implementation of letters for iotised vowels, which allows to write less characters without altering too much the orthography nor needing the use of diacritics for iotisation.
These changes allow faster writing and easier reading, giving the chance to spot eventual mistakes during the composition and understand a text sample faster.
