I work in law and advise on a school board for law programs.

There's a huge ethical debate in the legal industry regarding the use of AI on client files.

For example, many injury firms are feeding medical records into AI models to help review and summarize them. Ergo, firms are providing sensitive information to third parties.

You can deploy and use llms in secure ways that allow you to maintain control of your data.

It sounds like law firms pouring sensitive information through public commercial tools don't have good rules/culture around information governance.

My sister has been using AI to help her as a supplement to her lawyer fees so in her custody hearings.

It has not been going well lol.

Ethics are all over the place. Just pick an industry and find a fun, new way to participate in capitalism and suppress all those ethical concerns in favor of continued employment!

Plenty of really good folk in that area. If you haven't been already, look at folks who publish at AIES or FAccT.

My PhD was in the History of Science and there are plenty of people working on this from the angle of historical research + theory if that interests you!
