Donation Centre Summary

Just moved to New West and trying to find somewhere to play. I'll take either beach or indoor, intermediate level, just want decent games and fun people to paly with! Where I played before it was mostly drop in style leagues or just showing up to the beach, so I'm used to signing up solo and getting put on a team or just showing up and joining games!

A few questions:

• Are there beach courts in or near New West that get regular pickup?
• Any indoor leagues that run out of local gyms or community centres? Fall/winter especially.
• Is it mostly league sign ups, or are there Facebook/Discord groups where drop ins get organized?

I live on Ginger drive off 6th Ave across from the firehall and rec center. Coming home from work from the port mann I have to make a left turn to get onto Ginger off of 6th. Cars used to be able to pass on the right and get to the light at McBride. Now that lane is reduced to one lane with the new raised bike lane/pedestrian path put in. That's going to be a bottleneck for sure. Once schools back in it will be nuts!

Looks like it will be closed between Begbie and E Columbia until the new year.

It's a good thing they're playing Billy Strings as he makes good stuff, but I can't help but feel like this is super disruptive. Don't know what to do.

​I need to park for the day near Columbia Station and was looking at the Impark garage there (Lot 687). When I look at the entrance, it seems like you need a fob or pass to get in.

​Can casual daily parkers use this garage? If so, how do you actually get inside? Appreciate any help!

I can’t believe we have to do this again. In 2024, House of Comedy cancelled a Danger Cats show due to community feedback. I remember that moment, and the resistance to the event was big and cut across sectors of the community that don’t always, or often, agree. I’m really surprised to see that the same venue is trying to book them again. Please read the petition and consider lending your support.

I got a potential spam alert for this from reddit, but I think this is an important and inclusive opportunity for a wide variety of people to come together to represent and stand up for our community.

This is happening today again and I cannot figure out where it’s coming from. On Columbia right in front of the old Army and Navy it smells like raw garbage again. But there are no dumpsters in the area

Hello, I have a friend that has gone to many walk-in clinics and they never listen to them or take them seriously. They also have bad anxiety. I was wondering if anyone knew any good walk in clinics that actually listen to their patients? They're on the waitlist for a family doctor already.

Hey I’m wondering what the consensus is on the construction lane merges on Columbia. My thought was always to fill both lanes and zipper merge when the lane ends. But people seem to get upset when I go to the end of the lane to merge in. I don’t understand. Even had a truck blocking the lane for everybody today. Better to fill both lanes so you don’t create a massive single file line that blocks intersections down the line. Am I wrong?

The community canvas was left out on August 20th during an event.

After that it went missing. It was leaning against the window outside.

Maybe someone took it thinking it was free?

I've left it out multiple times without this issue but I guess things happen.

The community canvas means a lot to me ! It was a long term project using the leftover paint of all my art classes, hung up during community events and drawn on by probably hundreds of people. With the ultimate goal to carve into the layers of paint.

I’m so sad I lost my airpods pro 3 case along 3rd Ave. between 6th St. and 8th St. today (August 26, 2026). If anyone happened to pick it up, please please reach out. I just bought it this month as a birthday gift for myself. I didn’t even get the chance to set it up on Find My. It would be empty as the airpods are with me, just the case is missing. I'm continuing to stay downtown for the next 2-3 weeks, without a decent kitchen or kitchenwares. Or even a working microwave. I'm going to see if I can buy one from the Salvation Army thrift store across the street.

Been eating the cheapest box salad from Safeway (and bottle salad dressing from City Avenue Market) with canned fish (Safeway has an incredible sale on the big cans of Cloverlead pink salmon right now) or sausage coil, cold.

Do you have any recommendations for inexpensive meals walking distance from the New West skytrain station? I'm not keto, but filling up on carbs isn't something appealing. Besides, Spaghetti Factory is actually pretty pricey and honestly not appealing.

Las Shilas is reasonable and Excellent, but still about/over $20 (a volcano and a taco, or three tacos - the lengua costs more and pushes it easily past 20, but worth it).

Hi all, I am considering moving to Renaissance Square (specifically the Q, 1 Renaissance Square). Wanted to hear from those who are living there / have lived there and your experience with this building. I understand it’s right next to the train yard… how much of a difference in noise is it between a unit facing the trains vs the water? How’s the noise isolation between units (adjacent, above, below, etc.) How is the strata? Whats the general demographic of the building? I see Renaissance square is at high risk of flooding during the rainy season. The quay is a really nice area, so am keen but would like to consider existing / past residents feedback. Any input is appreciated!

God I hope everyone is okay. I have never heard a train horn blare for 2 minutes straight like that. Couldn’t tell if it was the quay side or Surrey but that was unnerving.
