A Striking Pillar of Light Appears Over the Snow-Covered Alps.

Its easy to understand why ancient people thought gods and fairies existed if they saw something like this.

and why they thought devils existed listening to goats and mountain lions in the forest

ancient people didnt have access to AI generated content.

Are you implying this is ai?

The people casually skiing by makes me question it. I know I'm more distracted by shiny things than some, but unless its a regular occurrence seeing that would surely make more people stop.
Edit: As per a comment below apparently it is real https://www.accuweather.com/en/winter-weather/watch-sun-candle-or-portal-to-another-dimension/1744208
I've still wonder though, how are people just ignoring it!?!

u/SoggyBoysenberry7703 4h ago
Because what are they supposed to do? Worship it? Scream? Sit there til it goes away?

u/Acps199610 4h ago
I mean, I'd look at it for like maybe 30 seconds and then would just move on, thinking to myself "That's pretty cool."
What do you uh, expected everybody to do? Stop and watch?
2
u/Onlygus 4h ago
I'd expect people to stop at the very least.
Personally I'd stop, try and work out whats happening by looking from various angles (is it like a rainbow where it would move), seeing if it changes over time, and then try to touch it to see if/how it changes shadows, then if interacting with it won't stop it from happening I'd ski through it to see if I do get transported to a different dimension.
From what I can tell it's a massively rare phenomenon that I'll probably never see again. The least I can do is appreciate some of the beauty in this world that I'm lucky to see. Like I said though, I know I'm not always like everyone else and they are not always like me.

So many people are on autopilot in this life, they don’t notice or question things like this. Be curious!

Maybe it’s kind of like a rainbow, in that it changes depending on which direction you look at it, and it doesn’t look as spectacular to those people.

u/SaltyArts 3h ago
Bro how are they ignoring it? Youre watching a video of it right now? Who recorded it you?
1
u/ThresholdSeven 3h ago
Because they see it from far away off camera and have looked at it long enough and are going back to skiing. It works be weird if everyone just stopped and stared and nobody moved for hours? Of course they are going to look at it, go "wow", maybe take a picture, like the person who took this video did and then continue on with their day.
The most likely reaction to this phenomenon at a ski hill is caught on camera and people think it's evidence of deception? What is wrong with the world?

kinda surprising modern religions won't make this one of their miracles now that science can explain it all

The combination of the snow and that beam of light is just beautiful, it looks so magical!

My ass would have thought it cool to ski through and wind up in the inside out dimension or something.

Ok you step into it, then read the elder scroll to learn dragonrend through a rather long cutscene.

Do you see what happens Larry?
Do you see what happens when you film a strange-light in the Alps?!

u/ThresholdSeven 3h ago
If this wasn't on video and happened outside a small village where only a few kids saw it, we would have another Marian apparition.

That's a clear portal. I can definitely recognize one when I see it. Crazy that no one went down there. I definitely would have.

A few hundred years ago many people would see this, claim they saw an angel and it would become a holy place

Could the clouds create a massive pinhole camera? The light might concentrate and become visible because skiers have stirred up so much snow?

That butt plug resolved it’s unfinished business on earth and can now move on to the afterlife.

Thats the portal to the DLC. Make sure you finish the main storyline quest before going in there.

This has to be fake. If it were real light from the sun, you would see some distortion on the ground as well. Instead we get the ground perfectly equally illuminated and not at all changed by this weird light pillar.
A shape like this has also be the result of some form of lens concentrating the light into that spot. Where is the lens? The fucking clouds!? Perfectly aligned to focus lights in that one spot? For that long?
Edit 2: Seems I completely misinterpreted the angle this video was filmed at. If youre looking down into the valley, a reflection such as this makes much more sense. I was assuming we were looking upwards.

This seems to be a perfect lower tangent arc, resulting from light refracting through the suspended ice crystals in the air, known as diamond dust. Another diagram here

It's the real thing. Rare but real. Here is an article about it: Link

I have checked the link but was still fairly suspicious of it. But then I realized that I completely misinterpreted the angle this clip was filmed on. They arent looking up the mountain, theyre looking down into the valley. In which case a reflection like this makes much more sense.
