Yeah it’s been a pretty common complaint and tons of videos showing the logjam at various stages where people are forced to just sit in the cold on the mountain trail

Given the height above the horizon, visibility at or near the summit is 200km.

Strong thunderstorm cloud tops can surpass 15km.

The thunderstorms in the video are probably >300km in the distance.

The only missing object there is a lift to make it even easier. Most sherpas do this trip multiple times a week only to support spoiled toerists.. annoying.
