Abandoned House, Niagara Region

I came upon this old abandoned house in the Niagara area last year. I only know of one person who has managed to get inside it and unfortunately that person is not me!

The last time I stopped by, they had covered all of the windows and doors with fresh plywood boards.

So for now, we just get to enjoy this exterior photo!

Restaurant Ideas....

Greetings all!

Looking at the possibility of a trip up from the DC area then end of September/early October, which would be my first visit to Niagara Falls (a bucket list item of mine). Plan to spend a couple nights on the Canadian side, and have a pretty good idea of what I want to see/do. That said, definitely looking for suggestions/recommendations on dinner options in/around town. I'm pretty wide open when it comes to cuisine options, but tend to prefer places which are are low key/mom & pop (rather than any sort of chain). Additionally, not into "fine" or "upscale" dining......trying to keep the getaway reasonably budget friendly. Yes, I get that it's a touristy area, but I have to imagine there are options which aren't inherently overpriced tourist traps. Will have a car, and certainly willing to use it for something worthwhile.

Thanks!

P.S. Oh, almost forgot....bonus points for places which has at least a couple gluten-free options. I can typically work around this issue/don't require a dedicated g/f restaurant, but.....being unfamiliar with the dining scene there....figured it couldn't hurt to include that well.

EDIT: Out of curiosity, any good Asian cuisine? I'm a huge fan of all varieties, so toss me any ideas worth considering. :-)

Niagara Falls Buffets

I know the Fallsview has moved from the casino to the Sheraton. I've since heard that the food hasn't been the best. Is that true? Any other buffets in the Clifton Hill area you'd recommend?

Cheapest ways to explore Niagara falls and top spots to visit

I'm planning to go for Niagara falls today, from North York it's a 3.5 hrs travel is there any other affordable travel, my budget is 100cad for the whole travel and I'm planning to take the cruise for sure( is the premium add on worth it?). But I have no idea how to do anything here, where exactly should I go for the cruise?. What are all other locations I should Go nearby like a town, trails etc. are there the tangerine bike options near Niagra. I would appreciate if anyone can what to do where to in an order after the cruise. Thank u.

Should I book the cruise ticket online or should take it there so that I won't miss my time

And is worth it if Im only gonna reach there around 2.00pm for the cruise and exploring the nearby towns and trails by bike or walk?

edit: btw just checked the weather it says there might be slight rain it exactly at the time I arrive. which is the best weather to visit the falls clear sky day or it doesn't matter? 😅😅 I might not have another chance in my life to come here that's why I'm considering lots of things

Can someone help me find this mug?

Post image
11 Upvotes

I visited Niagara falls in October of 2018 and bought this mug. This trip happened to be an incredibly sentimental time in my life and this mug has been my favourite for years. Unfortunately today it got dropped and significantly damaged. I am really hoping someone has seen this mug around and is willing to help me out. I was in Niagara last year and did look in a few shops to no avail, but I'm hopeful someone will have seen them somewhere. If you are willing and able to help me get a mug shipped to Guelph, I would be happy to pay all associated costs as well as a little extra for your troubles, and i would be so incredibly grateful. Thanks for even reading this far!

Child Care - Before/After School Care

Why is it so hard to find child care? Is the government even aware of this? Its hard for us parents to find child care even before and after school care. We are always asked to be on Niagara One List but the line is long and been there for 2 years with no contact is crazy. I hope they'll reach out before my son turns 18.

Kidding aside, hasn't the government considered that the lack of child care is one factor of having lack of manpower? Us parents are either expected to work just part time or find a job that's flexible or work from home. Would it be hard to add manpower or services for child care and just reallocate instead of being eager to reduce and layoff? School schedule just don't really align with office work schedules.

Anybody can get tips on how to get in faster? Is there a hack I should know?

Ali-AKBAR Alert ⚡ University of Niagara Falls Predatory Diploma Mill ⚡

This Ali-AKBAR GUS Canada Colleges scumbag-Islamist is in our beloved community of City of Niagara Falls.

This jihad terrorist-sympathizer is here, teaching others about jihad at University of Niagara Falls Canada.

This terrorist-rat went after Canadian Jews, in Toronto.

I often say, "Once the Jihadi's come for the Jews, Westerners are next. The 'infidels' are next. People that embrace the high-vibes of Western Culture, instead of the Islamists lowest-evil-jihad-vibes, will be targeted by Jihadis."

As reported, about the GUS Canada Colleges terrorist-rat: “An individual who is reportedly a university instructor stood in a Jewish neighbourhood and repeated some of the oldest and most vile lies and conspiracy theories about Jews – accusing Jews of using “black magic,” raping, murdering, and eating children."

So, Taliban Jim Diodati and Jihadi University of Niagara Falls Canada --- I need answers.

Why are you importing TERRORISTS, Jim Diodati? Why do you support terrorists, Jim Diodati? Why are you enabling a pipeline of Jihadi's to Niagara Falls, Jim Diodati, via the predatory diploma mill University of Niagara Falls Canada?

Which hotel should I stay in?

I have a high floor falls view room booked with the Sheraton in September. However, I see there is a similarly-priced "Junior Presidential | Premium Fallsview Suite | One King Bed | Air Jetted Tub" at the Hyatt Regency. But this doesnt explicitly state that its a high floor, so I worry it wont be as great of a view.

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with this room at the Hyatt Regency? If so, how did you like it, was the view worth it over getting a high floor room at the Sheraton? Thanks!

🎭 AUDITIONS — DRY STREAK — THOROLD THEATRE AUDITIONS 📅 Wednesday, August 26 — 7:00 PM

Post image
2 Upvotes

Thorold Theatre is casting 7 actors for its fall production of Dry Streak, a wildly funny Canadian comedy by Saskatchewan playwright Leeann Minogue, directed by Wendy Cullen-Mackie.

Production: Mid-November

Set during the scorching summer of 1988, Dry Streak takes audiences into the heart of a small prairie farming community where the rain has stopped, the crops are failing, and everyone has an opinion.

The Richards family has worked the same farm for generations. When son John returns home with his new girlfriend Kate, the family discovers that she is unlike anyone the town has encountered before: a punk-rock-loving, vegetarian city girl who has no particular interest in getting married.

Then, desperate for rain, Kate makes a reckless promise.

What follows is a comic collision of family expectations, small-town gossip, generational differences, personal belief and the increasingly uncomfortable realization that sometimes a private promise can become very, very public.

Dry Streak is a sharp, affectionate comedy about family, faith, farming and the pressures of small-town life — and what happens when everyone knows your business.

AUDITIONS

📅 Wednesday, August 26 — 7:00 PM
📍 Thorold 50+ Senior's Centre, 8 Carleton Street Thorold

Auditioners are asked to prepare a 3–5 minute monologue of their choice. It doesn't have to be from the play. A prepared monologue is encouraged, but not required.

You'll also be asked to tell a joke or funny story. We're looking for comic timing, personality and the ability to connect with an audience.

Callbacks: Sunday, August 30 — 7:00 PM

We're also looking for an Apprentice Director

Rehearsal Information

Initial Rehearsals are for Mon. Sept14, Wed Sept 16, Mon Sept 21, Wed Sept 23,

Mon Sept 28, Wed Sept 30, Mon Oct 5, Wed Oct 7.

📩 RSVP / Questions: [wendella3@gmail.com](mailto:wendella3@gmail.com)

RG Kitchen was always a great place for a meal. Nice folks there too. I hope this is a rebrand and the same people are involved. If so, I'll probably still frequent the place, but I will tell them that their AI slip pic of food up there is a shitty choice.

Old bar name help

A coworker of mine used to work at the corner of Thorold Stone Road and Kalar- before it was Somebuddy’s. She cannot remember the name and everyone else I’ve asked remembers the bar but not the name. I think they used to do a nuts and bolt night there. She worked there in 1986.

Any chance anyone here remembers the name?

How much are utilities usually?

I’m not sure if this is the sub for this, but I’m making an excel spreadsheet to have an idea of how much I’ll be paying a month if I move out. A lot of apartments have utilities separate (which is I believe depending on your use), so obviously it would be a bit different for everyone!

If you’re a single person living in an apartment how much would you say you pay on average for utilities?
