Ok… I have my digital ID card which is green. I have seen people say that it is blue if you have the bus pass attached to the card. I start school tomorrow. I think I saw that bus passes start on September 1. Anyone out there that can confirm that their digital ID card turned blue on September 1 last year?

I heard you need to complete 40 hours of volunteering and wonder if we can do it in first year during a reading week? Does it have to be done in one week or can we break it up? What needs to be done for it. Thanks.

Hi, new student here (Bcomm distance transfer student). I was wondering, when does Nipissing usually roll out the COEs? Are they typically pretty good about getting them out before classes start?

I am a first year BED student (26F, P/J) starting this semester who will be staying long term at one of the partnered NU hotels.

As someone who will be doing her placement in the GTA during October and February and going home on the weekends for my part time job, I would like a roommate (preferably P/J, but anyone who is ok with checking in Monday and checking out Thursday morning for a 3 night stay each week). I don’t have to stay in North Bay during the weekend, so I would prefer not to.

I have been offered a rate of $94/night, so essentially, we would be splitting this cost weekly, bringing your total to about $53 a night after taxes which honestly saves a lot of money especially if you aren’t staying in North Bay for your placement months.

Hi everyone! I’m starting at Nipissing for teachers college next week. I’m sure many of you know, it’s 5 weeks in classes then 5 weeks at our practicum. This schedule makes it quite difficult to find a steady job. As much as I’d love to be a full time student, that is just not my reality- I need a job lol. Any advice on how you made this work? Is the answer to find something hybrid? Are there opportunities within the school for education students? Or should I apply to every scholarship ever haha. Thanks!

Why did this uni admin not tell us in advance we have first week of classes a WEEK before labour day?

I was wondering how frequently were days of the practicum rescheduled for the buffer week?

do they often get pushed into the buffer week? or if you simply don’t need any days off (i.e. don’t get sick) during practicum, can that buffer week be treated as a pseudo reading week (i.e. no class, week to study)?

I’ll be starting bcomm this Fall 2026 and I’m just wondering how you found the first semester . Was it easy or hard . I’m coming as a transfer student with zero business background. We’re all exams online ?

I will be a first-year student in the P/J Consecutive Education program this year. I am considering booking a trip over the Christmas break and was wondering whether attendance is taken for our courses.

If I were absent during the first week (January 4–8, 2027), would that be a serious problem?

does anyone know when course registration is open?

1. Im a nursing student and I signed up for the “block” of course that they asked me to. When will I get moved to the actual course sections and how will that work?

2. When should I buy scrubs and other materials like stethoscopes?

3. How many days a week will I have clinical placement in first/second semester and how long are the shifts usually?

4. Any other tips about how to navigate all information and campus first year?

Is the parking lot near Founders and Chancellors residence available to students of those residences? As in, overnight parking permit?

To those commuting by car: Anyone know what the hourly rate is parking on campus? Is the parking permit cheaper than paying daily?

Class schedule hasn’t been released yet so I don’t how often I’ll be on campus either (entering 1st year BEd)
