Hello folks, I have thick wavy hair, a lot of it, I wash my hair once a week, rubbing my scalp with my finger tips all over with cold/like warm water and I take strands of hair and run my fingers down from the scalp to the tips to spread out natural oils and to attempt to clean it . My hair feels dirty/gritty/greasy for the last month. I don't want to use normal shampoo but if I need to I'll use some kind of product. Any ideas? Thanks!

So I haven’t tried no poo yet, well i think Idid years ago, probably 10 now, but I cant remember what i thought of it. My issue is every no fragrance shampoo/conditioner I get leave my hair very staticy but I dont want to keep using fragrance shampoos. Does apple cider vinegar leave anyones hair staticy after you dry it? How do you use it in the shower? Do you scrub with it like shampoo or just rinse with it. Thx!!!

I’m getting small, white, powdery flakes all over my shoulders, especially when I brush my hair. My roots don’t feel oily at all, my skin actually feels tight.

I've been using Head & Shoulders for two weeks but it seems to be making the flaking worse. Does this sound like a dry scalp instead of actual dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis)? If it is just dryness, should I stop the zinc pyrithione shampoos entirely? I'm worried I'm completely stripping my moisture barrier.

This is my hair after an acid rinse (spraying lemon water after washing with water no poo for a week, I have a very hard water area) and my hair doesn't feel waxy but it is just a bit too oily for me. Was wondering what I can do about the oil

Trying no poo again for the first time in years (I had much longer hair before, now quite short).

Main thing I want is to improve my dry. itchy, flaky scalp (don't think it's true) dandruff, which no products I tried have ever been able to fix.

Male, 37, dark hair, curly when long, but short now, always been very thick. Tends to be quite dry, never really greasy. Soft water area.

I stopped using shampoo about 4 weeks ago because it seemed like a good time. Water only since then. Occasional commercial caffeine lime and ginseng "scalp tonic" after rinsing, when I want it to feel nicer. There's noticeably more oil, but wouldn't really say it was greasy. Still dry and itchy and flaky though.

Just started reading the wiki on here and there's an overwhelming number of different things people are using... vinegar, baking soda, homemade shampoo, warm water, cold water, no water, etc.

How long should I give it with just water? What else should I try first, and how long should I give it? Don't want to throw more than one thing at it at once.

Im currently using Gliss split hair miracle and it’s better than other shampoos and conditioners i’ve tried.

What products do you use can recommend for fine, wavy, a lot of frizzy, thin, damaged ends? (from hair pulling). My hair can't handle a lot of chemicals and heavy oils. Maybe something lightweight, moisture and repair?

I have wavy hair and to avoid frizzy, dry hair have been recommended to wash it only after around 3 days. As an active person I find this difficult as I always want to wash it after a sweaty run or workout.

Any recommendations?

Hey everyone, I really need some help.My hair is in terrible shape right now. I have a lot of mineral build-up from using hard water in the past. I don't use hard water anymore, but the build-up is still there.I can't buy a chelating shampoo because they are not sold in my country. I tried an ACV rinse, but it didn't work at all. My hair still feels awful and coated.Since I can't get chelating products and ACV didn't help, how can I remove these minerals from my hair? Are there any other natural ways or alternatives that actually work for severe build-up?Any advice would be amazing. Thank you!

What is going on with my hair? It looks like straw/wire 😭

I’ve been no-poo for years and my hair has never looked like this before.

I'm under a lot of stress recently which could contribute to this.

For years I also had very long hair, so maybe the texture/condition wasn’t as noticeable? I recently had it cut shorter, and now I can really see how dry, rough and… wire-like it looks.

It feels kind of straw-like and the individual hairs seem very coarse and stiff. I’m honestly confused because I haven’t changed my no-poo routine.

I'm simply using water - and a tangle tamer brush to kind of massage my scalp which produces a lot of grease.

recently did a blood analysis, nothing noteworthy.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what could be causing this?

Any hint what to go about it?

What are some good alternatives then shampoo and conditioners that aren’t being recalled or not damaging to hair. I feel like all I see is stuff not to use and never get any alternatives that are better for ur hair. What is ur hair suggest that I can do besides the normal routine of shampoo and conditioner

I am adjusting to really hard dorm water. It is hard to the point where I have to wash my hair with something acidic every time, otherwise the buildup will make my hair incredibly sticky and waxy.

My question is: does it make more sense to use bentonite clay mixed with acv (my alternative wash of choice) every time or alternate between a bentonite wash and a diluted acv wash?

im about 1.5 to 2 months into my no poo journey, its still a little greasy.. i went in the ocean and then just rinsed with water when i came out and it was the best hair day of my life.. the best my hair has ever looked/ felt… however after maybe 2 days it went back to being greasy, maybe even greasier than before… does going in the ocean have the same effect as shampooing???

Has anyone had any luck with a routine or something that helps with hair loss cause by a GLP?

-I didn’t use anti-dandruff shampoo for 15 days, and everytime i showered during these days i would avoid drying my hair. at all. AC is on. I use cold water

-Everytime after i used anti-dandruff shampoo in the shower, i would get dry flakes. But since i stopped using shampoo the happen to be greasier for some reason

-Whenever i rinse my hair with water only, and try to scrath my scalp, greasy stuff gets stuck in my nails

-My hand is greasy when i pass it thru my hair

-The flakes are small in the images as you can see, and their smell isn't as strong, which suggests the fact that i have dry scalp. but the earlier facts also tell that it’s dandruff which causes a contradiction which also p*sses me off

TLDR:

I have seemingly greasy flakes, and the way i noticed is that it’s greasy under the shower, but at the same time those flakes also happen to be white and small instead of chunks.They are smelly when close, but not so much. so which one is it??

Please ask more questions if needed. i currently have Sulfate free shampoo and the other one, should i stick with one of them or just keep going with no poo

Best no rinse hair products. I had ear surgery and cant wash my own hair for a month. What have you used?

I've never been able to do more than every other day for washing, but with Nopoo I think it might be a good idea, I just don't know how to do it with curly hair and still maintain its shape/some volume.

Would this work better with nopoo since hair is more moisturized because of the natural oils?
