I had to turn the dial to U between channel 2 and 4. U was not the same as 3 though, because U let you use the second dial to choose between channels 13-36

Must also have a VCR, though, and have to switch wires depending on which you wanted to use. You had to be really fancy to have both available at once.

You could run one through the other with a (newer) vcr. Because you likely had a yellow and a white only and a coax. Unless you just had your double screws on the old black and white. But had to haveremote for vcr pass through, which is where it all went wrong. Because universals didn't have that one specific option that your giant million button remote did that let you. And ofc didn't have the proper physical button. Get off my lawn.

Yep! We had a 2600 (later upgraded to a 7800) connected to an old black and white Zenith tube (vacuum tube) TV in the basement because my dad didn't want the console on the "nice" tv upstairs.

Our 70" TV broke in the living room a few weeks ago. No one watches much TV in there anymore, so I threw up an old 47" Sanyo 1080P TV. Still has the RCA , plus the HD RCA (forget what they were called), Coax connector (it still does the snow static when you put it in "cable" mode), and it has the old VGA PC port.

I wanted to hook my sound bar up, But it didn't have an optical connector on the TV. But it had an RCA audio out port. I dug through the house for 2 hours before I finally found a box of these connectors with an old DVD player.

Hard to believe in 2026 that TV still works great, and has a darn good picture. I don't remember what I paid for it back in the day, but its been a good TV.

for 20 years I had a box of old cables in the basement. Old charger cables, RCA cables, Aux cables, power cords, all kinds of stuff.

6 months ago I was cleaning my "junk" shelf in my shop and thought, these cables are so out dated I'll NEVER use one again. Yep here we are.

You can still buy most of this stuff. There are kits to make your own RCA cables to the length you want. Its decades old- but even sonos still uses RCA analogue in/out right next to their digital.
