Planted Culture Vegan Market?

Saw one was happening Sept 3rd, but it says both Washington Square Park and Atlantic Terminal Mall. Anyone know where it will be? https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sept-planted-culture-market-full-vegan-outdoor-food-court-tickets-1998795226328?aff=oddtdtcreator

And for those who went, is it worth going to? Any good vendors? How are the prices?

Thanks!

ā€œVegan meal with non-vegan componentsā€

i just to a place where I am almost certain there was dairy butter on my ā€œveganā€œ toast.

NYC vegans: what restaurants label things as vegan without realizing that all the components or condiments aren’t? i am not asking to blast them but better inform myself so I can navigate these situations.

Where do you feel pretty confident that the vegan version is actually vegan?

I eat at mostly vegan places but enjoy superiority burger, dirt candy, spring cafe, abcv and sometimes need to go to mostly meat places with my friends.

I picked up dinner about 6:25 p.m. tonight. It was empty, and no other orders waiting for pick up as far as I could tell. I hope the delivery business is robust; but, in case it’s not, go support your local vegan sushi by way of Canada!

Anywhere I can get loads of seitan locally?

Really love seitan and using it to make southern style BBQ sandwiches. I’ll get the pre packaged seitan at Whole Foods but it’s usually a small amount and pretty expensive. Was curious if there are any local vegan people/businesses who sell things like seitan etc in large amounts.

Coffee and a vegan treat in lower Manhattan?

Any recommendations for cafes where I can get coffee and a little sweet treat? Somewhere within a half mile or so vicinity of Chinatown, preferably on the less expensive side of things!

EDIT: You folks are great, thank you for the recs so far! I forgot to mention that sit-down and hang for a bit is preferred!

Vegan Dating Scene??

I recently moved to the UWS and have found that my long term plan of moving to NYC, randomly bumping into a vegan guy who is my age, falling in love, and getting married probably won’t work out.

Where are people meeting single vegans? It seems like the vegans are concentrated in Brooklyn, but that would be a long distance relationship for me. Are you guys using dating apps (please please don’t say feeld)? Meeting out in the wild? A third option I haven’t considered? Please help me!

Vegan Brunch (ideally around the UWS)

Hi all,

A friend of mine is doing me a favor and I’m trying to thank her by taking her to brunch. She’s located around Inwood/the Heights but has stated she’s willing to travel. I’m not located near the Heights at all, so I’m looking near the UWS for options and am not seeing many.

I don’t really want to go too far south for her (I’d prefer to go more north, so it’s less on an imposition on her, but am not necessarily trying to go all the way to Inwood).

Does anyone have any brunch recs for me? I know vegan brunch is almost nonexistent usually. Vegan options okay, I don’t need an entirely vegan restaurant!

I was looking at Harlem Breakfast Club (they have a plant based menu), but wasn’t sold on it.

Thanks all :)

Vegan dinner in downtown bk vicinity?

Hi guys! I just moved to downtown brooklyn from manhattan so am not as familiar with vegan options nearby. There are a lot of quick service places but does anyone have any suggestions for vegan (vegetarian or lots of veg options OK) sit down restaurants in the surrounding area? Brooklyn Heights, Boerum Hill, Dumbo, Fort Greene, etc? Family coming to visit and looking for a good sit down dinner spot! Doesnt have to be too fancy and no budget!

What do yall do when you see tourist kids kicking the pigeons?

I see it a lot because I live near a tourist filled area. Usually it’s just one or two kicks but sometimes I see a kid just going at it and I want to say something.

Vegan options within ~10-minute walk of Barclay's Center/Atlantic Terminal?

I work near Barclay's Center/Atlantic Terminal and I typically bring food with me to work, but I'd love to crowdsource a list of restaurants and cafes with vegan options. I'll get us started:

  1. Hungry Ghost on Fulton (sometimes has vegan muffins and tahini chocolate chip cookies)

  2. Habana Outpost

  3. Saint Street Cakes (typically has a vegan cake slice available)

  4. Kadamba Kafe

  5. Tenon Vegan Sushi

  6. Just Salad

  7. Slutty Vegan

Coming in 2027: Din Tai Fung at 567 Fulton!

Before they close end of the month. Even restaurants that aren't fully vegan but offer substantial vegan options can't survive here.

Which Bodhi is truly vegan for someone milk egg anaphylaxis

I know there are a couple of places in Chinatown that are similar to each other with the name Bodhi. I need the one that is 100% vegan with no cross-contamination with egg or milk. Has anyone gotten a straight answer if one is 100% vegan? We are talking anaphylaxis here Thank you

what is your favorite all vegan establishment in the city?

with lots of vegan places in nyc closing lately, let’s share our favorite all vegan spots in the city that we can all try and support. for me, it’s Seitan’s Helper in Brooklyn. I’m currently working my way through their entire sandwich menu. Gigi’s Doughnuts was a recent try for me and will be a staple in my home moving forward. Honorable mention is Veg’d Out in New Rochelle.. not technically in the city but this place is phenomenal and worth venturing ā€œupstateā€.
edit: also wanted to add Vegan Pastry Lab in New Jersey. again not technically in the city but very close and this place is freaking amazing. has some of the best vegan pastries i’ve ever had in almost a decade of being vegan.

Vegan lunch in South Brooklyn

With Clementine Bakery and Public records cafe closed, my usual spots for a mid-week vegan lunch and hang are gone 😭😭. Does anyone have any recommendations for spots with a solid vegan menu where I can comfortably sit and read for a while at?? Willing to travel to North Brooklyn but my preference is south of Clinton Hill and north of Bay Ridge. Extra points for outdoor seating and a well designed space <3 <3
