A creative decision you can't wait people to be completely chill and normal about?

I like how just the other day the rumor was "considering changing the backstory", but now suddenly it's definitely happening.

Scooper was a nobody btw. God forbid information be sourced on this website

Well considering that Professor X just turned 40 in the MCU, then it's probably a pretty good indication that our Magneto will be of a similar age.

Unless is mutant powers can keep him looking young

It'd have to be mutant powers for both Professor X and Magneto though (unless you want to alter their character dynamics). Bottom line, the announcing of the actor for Professor X as being in their 40s and not someone in their 70s is a pretty strong indicator that they are going in a different direction.

It wouldn't have to be for Professor X. There's never been a backstory where the two grew up together. They've always met as adults. Xavier can always meet Erik/Magnus in his 20's or 30's and Erik appears to be in his 40's, just 'greying early'.

And you realize why that would be a bizarre/unusual choice.

Also, keep in mind I'm not saying it's 100% certain that they are changing the backstory, rather I'm pointing out that the casting of Professor X is a strong signal that they are going in a certain direction.

It's not that unusual when in the comics, Xavier first met Magnus in the 1950's and Magneto had stark white hair even though he was about 30.

Yes, clearly premature aging of hair is less believable than that you are talking to a secret ageless immortal that's decided to do nothing with their life for 70 years.

But hey if you want to ignore the obvious signs Disney is giving them be my guest. I bet you were shocked that Michelle was nicknamed MJ and that Sadie Sink was playing Jean Grey too.

MJ and Jean Grey have nothing to do with that, but whatever.

They already established secret immortal characters, like The Immortal and Namor.

As for what Erik has been doing, that is what the reset post Secret Wars is for. The new normal will be mutants and the Fantastic Four having a realized backstory with whatever the main Earth will be labeled.

These were both obvious choices marvel was making that were apparent for people paying attention to casting choices/news. Just like casting a young professor X. It's really not that complicated just requires a little media literacy/understanding that the MCU is not attempting to be 1-to-1 comic accurate.

Well yeah that's typically how every event ever happens, it is a possibility until it's either a reality or not. In other news Obama is 1 year older than he was last year

My critique is how a rumor of a possibility suddenly becomes a rumor of fact, usually like a game of telephone.
