Won't happen. Make a black magneto talking about the mutants being persecuted and how awful humans are and you'll be accused of making him a strawman parody of notable black civil rights leaders.
Stan Lee himself said that was not true. In the original comics magneto wasn’t even Jewish, he was just a basic bad guy trying to take over the earth. There was no mutant discrimination in the original comics, that came later once Chris Claremont took over.
There were quite a few prominent Jewish actvists that got lynched during the Civil Rights movement, might be a decent origin but then again, I doubt with the current Administration, that Disney is gonna touch anything like that.
I know, I really want to see that though. I think it would be an interesting angle particularly if you tie in storm and black panther and their inaction. It gives him a strong reason to oppose humanity as a whole.
I wish this happened, but I know that if these movies land well then marvel will try to make them African in the comics as well. They did it with Nick Fury and I have no clue how they would do it with Magneto and Charles.
Nick Fury was black in the Ultimate seires before the first MCU movies came out. In fact Mark Millar based him off of Samuel L Jackson in the first place. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, in which case, my bad.
This is true. But the 616 Fury was white. The issue I'm pointing out is the difficulty in believably retconning it. There was a whole multi-comic arc involved in replacing Nick Fury with his black son, also named Nick Fury, and it felt very contrived at the time. It would really stretch the imagination to figure out how to believably replace two very important and historic characters with African versions of themselves. Did Charles and Magneto also both happen to have African children that were given the same names as them? That's all I'm getting at.
I mean replacing 616 Nick for a black Nick for no real reason besides cashing in on the movies is hilariously stupid. Ya, the comics would just have to have the story take place in another timeline or it would be horrible and borderline racist to reasonablychange them in the mainline continuity lol.
