Make him a man out of time like Captain America and suddenly his worldview loses a lot of impact just because the world that informed those views no longer exists.
Make him immortal and suddenly the dynamic he has with Xavier changes. They no longer are two men of the same generation of mutants with radically different ideas on how to help their people.
Change his backstory to a more recent event and it kinda borders on erasure at a time when I think- for multiple reasons, it's more important to remember the utter inhumanity of the holocaust and what it represents than ever.
Change his backstory to a fictionalised event and it kinda sanitises him, makes him less real.
The last one is probably what they'll do. It arguably could be the right choice. Still not great though.
Isn't this movie about the collision of muliverses'? I assume the people who are over it aren't going to watch anyway - no matter what they do with magneto.
I explained why making him immortal has one problem. You could make both him and Charles Immortal, that actually might be a workable solution. But it looks like the story they are wanting to tell is about a young and scrappy group of outcasts caught in the gears of a changing society, and idk if two fossils from WW2 cleanly fit into that concept. Definitely ways they could make it work, but only by shaping the story to fit this limitation, and depending on the script they might not be willing to do that.
Alternate dimensions would be the same problem. Maybe even worse- they want to change to world, but they fucked off from their old one? No, I'm not personal a fan of that at all.
It'll only kick the can down the road for another couple of decades, but I see no reason to not have the x gene blanketly slow the aging process. Make the mutants even more "genetically superior." Like any other genetic expression, it can affect individuals differently. Some are babies for a decade, while others hit 40 and suddenly their aging is reduced to a crawl. Keeps the Holocaust origin and keeps Magneto and Charles as contemporaries. Plus, with de-aging tech, you can justify keeping actors in place a bit longer.
Change his backstory to a fictionalised event and it kinda sanitises him, makes him less real.

I don't see why not. If Spider-Noir can come from a 1950s universe, why can't Magneto from a universe that is chronologically behind ours by about eighty years?
True, the Fantastic Four are doing that already. I guess the main issue is that it would be nice to have a slightly more grounded story for the X-Men, not fully Fox franchise levels but like how Brand New Day didn't feature all the multiverse insanity that the MCU is into right now for some reason

Tbh there's no easy answer to this.
